The system was stuck in a recovery loop, BitLocker was triggered, and Windows wouldn't load or even reliably enter repair mode. Multiple shops I called said it would take several days just to diagnose the issue. Matt turned it around in essentially one day. He was able to manually access the system, unlock BitLocker, repair the corrupted boot configuration, rebuild the necessary Windows files, and get the machine fully operational again -- without wiping my data. That was critical, as I had local files that weren't backed up to the cloud. I had an Epson printer that needed its inkpad replaced/reset and I've tried/failed with a local HP specialist before. So when I found CMI as an authorized Epson shop as another shop (just a bit closer in terms of an audio repair I needed to run to Arlington Heights from Rogers Park), I gave them a call for an estimate. They quoted a rate that matched the competition of $89 (that was just a little farther) and offered to do the job while I waited. Since I was going to be back in the area to pickup my audio repair, I left it with them. On pickup day, I was running behind and I called them at 4:40 p.m. before closing to see whether I could still stop by. They said they'd still be open and was glad for not needing to make a separate return trip. (Will update review after I get my printer up and running again). Glad that there two great Epson repair shops in town, even if they are a haul from home.

This place and the owner, George, had excellent reviews. I called and he recognized the message, said he had the part, and said he could fix it and have me on my way in 30 minutes. Cost was $89 on a credit card. Discount for cash. Service was great. Printer producing great color photos again as well as beautiful text. I recommend George and this place highly. They are on Cortland now in Addison. Only the Epson website has the correct address. Their own website and Google and yelp all show the Fullerton address which is incorrect. Have George confirm the address when you call him to make an appointment.

When I arrived to pick up my phone, they asked if I previously had my phone fixed by someone else, which I said yes to. They told me how my phone had several missing parts and how the touch ID not working wasn't normal. They fixed the touch ID, the screen, and the home button for no extra charge.
