WARNING: Read This Before You Buy a Home Built by Clayton Appalachia (Andersonville, TN)…read more Let me preface this review by saying: the Clayton Homes sales team in Johnson City, TN has been absolutely amazing. I highly recommend Josh, one of the managers there. He's gone above and beyond for us and this is not a reflection of their sales office. HOWEVER -- and it's a BIG however -- the quality of the home we received from the Clayton Appalachia factory in Andersonville, TN is beyond unacceptable. We purchased a brand new 2025 Farmhouse Breeze 72 model. From the outside, it's beautiful -- the contractors who handled the siding, porches, and foundation did a great job. But the interior of this home is a complete disaster and frankly, an embarrassment. I wish I had gone with Giles, like I originally planned. Here's a list of just some of the issues we've encountered (I have photos and videos of all of this): Interior Construction and Finish Issues: Large trim pieces (around doors, entries) are crooked, overlapping, or misaligned. 90% of the smaller trim strips are not even secured to the wall. There are nail holes everywhere, no caulking, no cleanup, especially awful in the bathrooms with white trim. Areas where trim was mis-installed the first time now have visible nail holes and damage left behind. Interior door and window frames are completely unsecured, some shift or wobble if you touch them. The ceiling has holes, poorly finished seams, and rough tape/mud jobs where you can visibly see thick lines across every joint.Door knobs were installed backward on both bathrooms, this caused one to put a hole in our master bath wall. Large visible gaps between the ceiling and trim, sloppily covered with white caulk or mud, looks like a rushed job with no final inspection. Floor has holes, cut marks, & isn't securely attached to the floor so it is rolling up! Plumbing and Water Damage: Pex connections were improperly installed throughout the home. When our well water was turned on, we had multiple major leaks that caused water damage in the master bath and under the kitchen sink. And who knows what kind of hidden damage is occurring beneath the floors or in the underbelly of the home due to these leaks, areas we can't see yet but will eventually show problems. This isn't even everything!! We were thrown a home-warming party & so many of our friends / family members pointed out visible issues with the home & told us to contact the BBB about it but we are giving you a chance to make it right before we start filing complaints with the proper channels and regulatory agencies!!! Price vs. Quality: We paid $200,000 for this home -- and that's without needing well or septic, because we already had that. For that amount, we expected a solid, well-built house. What we received feels like a slapped-together unit with no quality assurance, no oversight, and absolutely no pride in craftsmanship. Clayton Appalachia -- Where Is Your QA Process?! I'm asking this sincerely: do you not inspect your homes before shipping them out? How could anyone approve this interior for delivery? Some of these issues have been "repaired," but many were done poorly or incompletely -- and others we've had to fix ourselves. This should never happen with a brand new, custom-ordered home. Final Word: This review is not meant to bash -- it's meant to warn. I hope others considering buying from Clayton Appalachia think twice and dig deep into reviews from actual homeowners, not just showroom visits or sales tours. Please be aware if this is not resolved promptly & if Clayton Appalachia refuses to take responsibility, I will file formal complaints

I recently bought a brand new mobile home from them and it was delivered in July 2021. Immediately…read morefrom the moment we moved in I noticed some issues with the home and contacted my home center Clayton Homes in Bowling Green, KY. The issues I have in the home are listed: *The wall in master's bedroom is short in width and is covered with a batten strip for the space that was not covered by panel and some loose batten strips on wall. *The master's bathroom window needs to be sealed from the inside due to draft. *Door panels throughout the home are raised and would like to be replaced with crowning instead due to it keeps coming a loose. *Repairs are needed at the edge trimming some of them are not installed correctly or broken. *Baseboards are not meeting all the way down to either a door panel or another baseboard. *Hallway bathroom door will not close all the way or lock. *In some areas of the ceiling connected to cabinets need to be repainted due to settling. *Kitchen drawers are not matching correctly- basically three pieces of wood placed together and then the cabinet finish on front. *Closet in master bathroom is not closing. *Hallway bathroom is missing backsplash *Floor in living has a raised nail and one uncovered nail showing on floor. *The oven and dryer cannot be on at the same time, if on at the same time it will throw the breaker switch. *Smoke detectors in home will constantly go off if connected. *Bedroom door has a gap when closed. *A small space between kitchen wall and connecting strip. *A raised nail in den room on the floor. * Defective Walls throughout the home and some have like a bubble in them. Some of these issues have been resolved, but I currently still have issues with the walls and my kitchen sink cabinet damaged from a water leak that took forever to get repaired. Now lets talk about the issues with the defective walls. They gave me only two options for that issue and neither one is the one I want. I asked that the walls be replaced not painted over due to this is a brand new home and painting over batten strips will look horrible and if we do paint I would like drywall. I have been patiently waiting for the completion of the home that I closed on September 2020 and to have finally gotten the home July 2021 that is still not complete. I am posting this cause I feel like they are just putting things off due to they have fixed a few minor problems but not the bigger issue which is I have different color walls throughout my home. No one wants to do what I want for my unfinished home that I have been paying monthly payments for and patiently waiting for to be completed like the way it was shown to me. I feel as if I was scammed out of money for a knock off. Also, listening to what I am saying and actually doing are two different things. I would like to see action and someone actually getting what I am currently paying for and promised done. Its unfair to my family that our home is not complete. Recently called today and spoke with advocacy team and the the only option they give me is to paint over the defective walls they have installed instead of replacing. I am paying for an incomplete home with mismatching walls throughout my home.
