My husband and I came across Remixologists first from a google search and then they were also included in a list of recommendations from our photographer (Peach Plum Pear Photo). Another clue we found worthy of noting was their website. They definitely took the time to maintain a look that was modern and stylish. Simon was responsive and arranged a meeting with available DJs. We picked DJ L'Gitt and he did not disappoint. He was just as friendly, warm and inviting as the day we initially spoke. Fast forward closer to the wedding, he reached out for the final meeting. He really wanted to hear our story, our background, where we grew up, etc to personalize our wedding. He checked up on us throughout the night and his emcee-ing was smooth. To top it off, the music was amazing. We gave him some direction on songs/ artists we really liked but honestly just told him to fill in the gaps. We were blown away by the service from Remixologists, especially DJ Benja Styles! As an anxious bride, I was really concerned about the music and dance floor since we weren't going with a band. But I kept wondering if we should have went with a band through the whole process. NOPE. To anyone back and forth about a band or DJ and wanting the most fun dance floor, go with Remixologists. They responded quickly every single time, DJ Benja Styles allowed me to be extremely picky with the music but also understood the vibe we wanted to an absolute T. I know I'm bias, but I've never seen a dance floor be packed the entire night like our wedding. At one point we all forgot we hadn't even eaten dinner yet. All of our guests were raving about the DJ and about how he made it possible for all ages to dance and he knew when he played a song that if no one was feeling it, he mixed it out right away. Even the bartending staff at the venue were commenting on how awesome he was. Truly not your average DJ, not cheesy, was so attentive to reading everyone, and we honestly couldn't have made a better decision for our wedding. A few relatives commented that they had never seen people sprint so fast to the dance floor (which was definitely due to the music and song choices). And honestly think the venue may have had to repair the dance floor after the wedding people were having so much fun. (Also side note - buying Amazon flip flops and Amazon glow sticks for guests are 100% worth it to just encourage dancing) We can't sing DJ Benja Styles praises enough. read more

If you are looking for a stress-free, no headache experience, in addition to having the best music where even the shyest and the "people that never dance" out on the dance floor, look no further. I can't be happier with the way Simon deejayed our wedding. He's got a really good pulse for the crowd and getting them in the mood to dance. I think what differentiates Simon from the other DJ's I've seen at other weddings is his cocktail hour playlist is by far the best. It all starts then, not when the dance floor opens, and he knows exactly how to get the crowd in the mood. As soon as the dance floor opened up at our wedding, it was packed. It was a great night and I know our guests had a blast. When you have a million things to worry about on your wedding night, it's nice to not have to worry about your DJ and your guests having a good time. Simon was a pleasure to work with leading up to the wedding as well - making sure we were comfortable with song selection, coordinating wedding intros, and hammering out logistics. He's organized and it's a real collaborative effort. Our day went smoothly and we had a very positive experience. I had the pleasure of working with DJ Ben for my wedding in July. He was great about communicating throughout the process and helped this clueless bride figure out what decisions needed to be made. We picked some obscure stuff, from old-fashioned Taiwanese songs to piano versions of Disney love songs, and he made them happen. He also worked out timing with the pastor and the venue so that I didn't have to worry about cues and timing on my wedding day. We hired DJ Ben for ceremony and reception music only as the venue covered our cocktail hour. We did forgo the laser lights in our package, but he was able to use the built-in colored lighting system at the venue to give us a show anyway--that was a fun surprise! The reception music was exactly what we wanted, down to the family-friendly hip-hop (had to shelter little children's ears). DJ Ben did a good job judging the volume: it was loud enough to feel like a party, but not so loud that you couldn't talk to the person next to you in a normal "indoor" voice. No awkward transitions either, which is something that has happened at other weddings I've attended. He did a great job introducing the wedding party during their entrance to the reception hall. He was able to pronounce every person's name correctly (thanks to some earlier discussion) and kept it from getting too cheesy. Having a great DJ really helps to make your special day more memorable--in a good way! If you're planning a wedding in their area, I would highly recommend giving The Remixologists a call. read more

DJ Ben was amazing. First of all he was super in tune with our needs and asked all the right questions about our taste in music. Then, on the big day he was so great. He was super professional, and super calm and welcoming. It felt like we'd known him forever. My husband and I had our wedding reception 2 months ago on July 17th, and I wish I had time to do my reviews of all our vendors sooner because they were all just that amazing! We are a COVID couple who were forced to postpone twice, so our relationships with our wedding team have been long ones. Our original wedding date was April 4th, 2020 and we had originally booked DJ Ben. When we had to postpone, he wasn't available for our new date, so we booked with Simon. Simon made the postponement process so easy for us and he is SO fun to work with. We did FaceTime calls beforehand which were awesome, and their platform for listing your music preferences/timeline information is very easy to work with as well. Simon was on top of the timeline and made everything perfect (from entrances, to cake cutting, etc). I knew I wanted our wedding to basically be one big dance party (especially after 2 postponements - we were just ready to party) and Simon definitely made sure to make it happen. He played the BEST music - to this day everyone keeps saying how good the music was and how fun our wedding was. No one left the dance floor! I had a very particular taste/genre for what I wanted the dinner music to be (Mediterranean, lounge vibes) and Simon literally hit the nail on the head (Simon - can I get that playlist please?!). DJ Mike did my Delaware wedding and was fantastic! He was easy to communicate with before the wedding and made the planning easy. We had an Indian wedding, but my husband is American, so it was important that we had a DJ that felt would play a mix of music. They did a great job playing music for all the different parts of an Indian ceremony. During the reception, they mixed it up with American and Indian hits. Everyone was on the dance floor! We hired Simon and the Remixologists after we heard him DJ at our friends weddings in the past. He did such a great job at those other weddings, and we saw all of our other friends have such a great time on the dance floor so we decided we had to hire him too. He exceeded our every expectation! He was incredibly helpful in the planning process, and was detailed in figuring out our whole ceremony/reception schedule. He was responsive and easy to work with, and we had so much fun planning our reception with him. He even helped me and my groomsmen create a track that we could dance on very short notice, just a couple of days before the wedding! On the day of our wedding, Simon was very punctual and efficient in working with our wedding coordinator and our venue in setting everything up for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We were so busy we did not even get to talk to him on the day of our wedding, but he knew exactly where to go and how to set up all of his equipment all on his own, so we didn't have to worry about a thing! All of the music we had lined up for our processional, recessional, cocktail hour, wedding party introduction, and first dance was all executed seamlessly on his end. Even when our venue notified us that we had to cut our reception an hour short, he was flexible enough to be able to work with the schedule change. Simon really shined when it came time to get everybody out on the dance floor. I was a little more hands on and listed songs for him that I wanted to hear, but he went above and beyond my expectations. He played all of my favorite hits and pulled out some songs of his own that got all of my friends and family dancing with each other, even people I did not expect to get out and dance! All our friends still tell us how much fun they at our wedding and Simon played a huge part in that. For me, the most important aspect of our wedding was hiring a great DJ and having an awesome dance floor. I thought our search for the perfect DJ would require weeks if not months of research. I cannot say enough good things about Simon aka DJ Taiga! Simon was definitely one of the best vendors we had for our wedding, if not the best. He was very easy to talk to from the beginning, he worked with us on everything, he uses the most up to date websites and technology to make everything smooth. He was easy and approachable from the very first time we talked on the phone. I liked being able to update a spreadsheet that sent an instant notice to him instead of emails back and forth like with other vendors who later forgot. All wedding vendors can learn from him -- all of our other vendors were still using old school methods like paper checks and constant emails, when most of us millennials planning weddings today are very tech-friendly. The most important thing -- his music was AMAZING on the day of! Our friends told us that they loved the music. Simon made sure that the music he played was popular when we were younger -- which I thought was great attention to detail. I've seen at other weddings where people will get off the dance floor once the music got boring, but our friends never did! The dance floor always had lots of people on it. The best thing was, Simon was able to translate parts of the reception in Chinese. This was so so important to me since most of our relatives do not speak English as a first language. He was able to translate the tea ceremony and instructions like when to get food, end of night, etc. It meant a lot to me that everyone could partake in this tradition. During COVID times, it is truly important to recognize people and businesses who have the utmost values at their core, and the Remixologists are one of those companies. They truly care about their brides and grooms as humans, and do not view you as a customer. The Remixologists were supposed to be our DJ for our original wedding on 8/22/20. Due to COVID, our wedding could not happen as planned, and we did not wish to reschedule our wedding. The Remixologists were there for us every step of the way - checking in to see where we were with our process, and being more than willing to find a new date that worked for both of us if we wished to reschedule. We decided to have a small ceremony in a public park with our immediate family. Because of this, we no longer needed a DJ. Instead of keeping our full retainer, the Remixologists were kind enough to meet us half-way and return half of the retainer. During these times, you see the true values of a business, and unfortunately, for some, it is money, and not you. This is not the case for the Remixologists. This review is specifically for Mike, who DJ'd our Philly wedding in Dec 2012. If I could provide Mike a higher review than five stars, I honestly would. He was fantastic from start to finish. I've mentioned a few details about the process itself below, but, in short: Mike was fantastic: highly communicative, timely, candid, and professional in all interactions pre and post reception; highly consultative and proactive in the way he worked with our music preferences to create a custom playlist; and highly intuitive and reactive to our diverse wedding attendees' and their music preferences during the actual event. Everyone - from my 86 year old great Aunt, to our parents, to our friends - were on the dance floor from the moment he started until we had to shoo them onto the bus! He had such a way with reading his audience and keeping people engaged that he honestly had to resort to playing a bad song in order to strategically clear the floor long enough for us to give our thank you speech! We got compliments from our other vendors about how good he was (he hadn't worked with some of them before) and our guests, even almost a year later, bring him up as a highlight when talking about our wedding. A note on cost: my husband and I paid for our wedding and were very cost constrained as a result. We hemmed and hawed a bit at first about the trade-offs we'd need to make in order to afford Mike, who was priced at a premium to other DJ's. In the end, I am so glad we splurged on MIke, who ultimately offered such a premium experience and service that he, in many ways, made other costs unnecessary (like, for example, a day-of coordinator!). Between Mike's and our caterer's professionalism and ability to manage the crowd, our wedding logistics were flawless and the level of energy and joy that we were hoping the music would engender never faltered. I cannot recommend Mike enough and am still so grateful to him for his tremendous contribution to our wedding day. For those brides/grooms who want details on each part of the process, here goes: 1. Vetting: we compared The Remixologists to three other DJs in the Philly area and were struck from the start by how professional and mature Mike (on an absolute and comparative basis). We conducted interviews with each of option and did reference calls on two finalists, so we took the vetting pretty seriously! Across the board, Mike's reference calls cited his professionalism, honestly, and trustworthiness and were harbingers of our own positive experience with him. One of the things that struck us most about Mike was how well he struck a balance between being a good listener and trying to "please" us as clients, with being an expert who would also provide suggestions, guidance, and honest advice when called for. We found that too many other DJs were interested in forcing a formula down our throats or, conversely, arguing they could be all things to all people but not really "listening" to what we wanted or needed. Mike's listening skills and professional tact with advice giving set him apart from the crowd. We liked him enough that we ultimately hired him for both the ceremony and the reception. 2. Consultation/preparation work: During the preparation process, Mike took our suggestions to heart but also took his role of creating a customized playlist really seriously. Had we really wanted to dictate a full playlist to him, I'm sure he would have accommodated us, but we honestly didn't! We wanted to trust his judgment (which is what we were paying for) to take a few example songs that represented us and a few "must haves" and build from those as a base. Doing so took a source of strain off of our own shoulders and made the best use of his expertise. Our music examples were eclectic, which did make us wonder how he'd build a play list from such a wide range of music, but we trusted him and were rewarded by doing so on the day-of. Another note on prep: Mike had not worked in our venue before (the Horticultural Center) so proactively took the time to tour the spot and get a sense of acoustics, set up, etc in preparation for the event. 3. Day-of: Mike rocked. Enough said. He was praised so many times from such diverse groups at our wedding that it's hard to really encapsulate what a total triumph that is! We were thrilled. We wanted reliability and trustworthiness, but we also wanted someone who had a passion for being a DJ and could bring the house down without dominating the mike. Mike let his music do all the work and literally wore us all out. He made our reception the joyful, dance filled craze we hoped it would be. :) read more

We had DJ Ben for our wedding. I have to admit, when my fiance lobbied for a DJ, I was hesitant. I wanted dancing but figured we could make a playlist and have a friend man it; hiring a DJ seemed like an unnecessary expense and I was all about staying on budget. In the end, having a DJ, and specifically Ben, was one of the easiest parts of the wedding to manage and most worth-it expenses. Besides the music, which is really what you hire a DJ for, I had no idea that Ben would become sort of a reception coordinator for us, or part of the reception coordination team. Forcing myself to plot out the schedule for the DJ, and then having him move us along the day of, was extremely helpful. We went back and forth between having Ben or a friend MC the reception and in the end it was just easier to have Ben MC and then we had a friend run one of the games. This ended up being great b/c we could relax knowing that Ben had it all under control and we wouldn't have to have our real day-of coordinator stress out about keeping the reception on track. The Basecamp site that the Remixologists use (in conjunction with me putting up the schedule on Google Docs) was extremely easy to use and also made us think of little details that I probably would have missed. Anyway, in the end, having Ben MC and DJ the reception was a huge stress relief. Oh and he kept the party going and we + all of our friends had a super fun dancing. It was so much fun to let loose with friends and family, and also to see all of our little nieces and nephews go nuts on the dance floor--tons of priceless memories. And to say a little more good stuff about Ben, he is EXTREMELY prompt on email, which I really, really appreciated as a (sort of) Type A bride. Even when he couldn't answer right away b/c he was going out of town on a gig or something, he'd reply right away to let me know that he had read the email and would get back to me on x-day. I'd say he was probably the best on communication out of all of my vendors. Also, I had some quirky little requests for cuing certain songs at certain points, and Ben took care of it all, easy peasy. Thank you Ben and the Remixologists for a super fun and surprisingly stress free night--I guess I should listen to my husband more often, hahahaha. :D (I also just realized--we went to two other weddings last fall. The DJ was pretty good for both of them for general music-wise for the dancing portion of the night, but one DJ was pretty off for the music for the actual wedding, and the other DJ made some inappropriate jokes--cringeworthy--during the reception. So beyond the music, you can't take it for granted that a DJ will be professional and actually play the cues, etc...so we feel really fortunate to have had Ben, who was super professional and on top of it!) read more

We were definitely not searching for a showy entertainer/hype man and wanted someone who was going to focus on the music and great at reading the crowd. His DJ skills are undoubtably amazing, but what's more amazing (but harder to notice), I think, is that he was extremely quick to observe the situation each second and improvised to make things flow better. DJ MIKE was simply AMAZING. He was incredibly professional to deal with, easy going and far far far from corny and cheesy. When we met him, he stated, "I let my music and DJing speak for itself" and it/he did exactly that. We got tons of compliments on the DJ and the music. He was able to mix our requests and entertain a large group of guests (we had a wedding of 140) of a variety of ages. He also did a bang up job with our sound for our ceremony. Ben Coleman from the Remixologists was the DJ/MC at my wedding. My wife and I couldn't have been more happy with the experience from start to finish. He kept a clear line of communications from the beginning and was very receptive to our ideas of how the evening would be structured, as well as to our personal musical preferences. He was absolutely professional on the day of the event and kept the whole thing running (including ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) without a single hitch. I can't even say how much it helped us maintain our sanity to know that he was steering the ship. When the dancing started we had several generations represented among our guests and they were all up on their feet. He had a great sense of how to transition from the first dances to the closeout. Simon rules! We are SO happy with how our wedding went (8/10/18) - the party was phenomenal - we sang and danced to every single song. He really understood exactly what we wanted, what our guests needed to keep the party pumping, and truly made the best day of our life just that....it could have gone a lot differently if it wasn't for him, so we really really appreciate how great he is at his job! He far exceeded our expectations, and we couldn't be more grateful. My husband and I got married in June 2017. From the get-go, we agreed that music would be a really important element for our wedding (after all, we bonded over our love of house music the very first time we met at Miami music week)... Needless to say, finding the perfect DJ was really important to us. We were so happy that our research led us to DJ Ben (Coleman) at Remixologists! We were impressed with his bio and playlist on the website so we decided to meet with him. Ben understood the vibe we were going for from the very beginning and assured us he'd play all of the songs we really wanted to include. He was very organized and thorough, sending over an excel doc to keep track of everything, from the schedule, to names of individuals and family members in our bridal party, to must-plays and do-not-plays! I'm very organized, so I really appreciated this. I can say without a doubt that it was the most fun wedding I've ever been to (and not just because it was mine).
