After hearing about Rena on a NYC actors Facebook page, I decided to book a headshot session with her for my daughter during her next trip to NYC. In order to take advantage of a small early bird discount, I booked 6 months in advance for a full session, including hair, makeup and wardrobe styling. The deposit I needed to pay up front came to $650, which I promptly paid. As luck would have it, two months before the session with Rena, my daughter booked a huge Broadway tour, which had us leaving the week before the shoot, with no plans to come back to NYC or to go to LA during the current contract term. I immediately reached out to Rena about the situation and her assistant suggested selling our slot since, according to her contract, we would only be able to get half of our deposit ($325) applied to another session when we reschedule, as long as it's within a year of the first one. I did everything possible to try to sell my slot and couldn't find any takers. I contacted Rena (or her assistant) again a week later and begged her to help me. She kept suggesting selling the slot or rebooking to use 1/2 of my money that she already had in her pocket. She didn't offer to try to rebook or post about the open slot herself, but left it all on my shoulders. Each time she recommended that I just reschedule so I don't lose the entire $650, I would explain that I have no idea how long my daughter will actually be on tour, since there's always a chance of being renewed, so there would be no way to reschedule at that point. She then actually wrote back that I should have booked out the date of the session so we didn't end up with this issue. I'm sorry...WHAT? The point of the headshots is to help the kids book amazing opportunities. Was my kid supposed to turn down a national Broadway tour, which is an amazing opportunity, to keep a photoshoot on the books? Our manager then reached out and asked if Rena herself was aware of the situation. The assistant continued responding, without Rena herself ever getting involved, to say the exact same thing to our manager that she said to me. I can understand that businesses need to have regulations for refunding deposits when someone cancels last minute, or they forget to show up or they just decide they don't want to have photos taken anymore. Heck, I'd even be ok with her keeping the deposit if she offered to use ALL of it, not just 1/2 of it, towards a session in the future. But when a full two months of notice of a truly legitimate reason for a working actor to cancel a headshot session is given, I think it is completely unprofessional and ridiculous not to make an exception to the contract or come to a mutually agreed upon solution for an extenuating circumstance. At this point, I have just resigned myself to the fact that I've basically gifted $650 to Rena Durham for doing absolutely nothing. read more

Rena is an absolutely amazing photographer! She does very impressive work and produces phenomenal results. She can work wonders even with the youngest and newest models to the business, including our four-year-old daughter. We were very impressed when we first met her. She was professional yet very personable and patient quickly putting my daughter (and myself) at ease. We just had our photography session with Rena Durham during her Miami PhotoPalooza specials. I din't have a bad time during the shoot. I did notice that she din't smile,speak or communicate with me at all, it was almost like if she was upset or mad or something, a couple of weeks later I got the pictures by email ,I got around 110 pictures I only looked at one and I though to my self I don't like them, I never finished looking at all the pictures I knew I wasn't going to like the rest , I really don't know what happened , I din't have a good experience with Rena. read more

I would highly recommend anyone Rena Durham for portraits! I found Rena online and already saw some positive reviews. I decided to take a chance and reach out. She responded promptly and was easy to make arrangements for our appointment. We did everything via emails. We changed locations and she complied. She arrived on time and was very easy to work with. Our session was for a maternity-family portrait. We sent some stock photos we liked ahead of time. On the spot, Rena had some nice ideas and was open to ours. The entire shooting process of low-key and relaxed, like two hours. My wife got to change into several outfits. Rena also worked patiently with our toddler who did not exactly posed on command. We went a little longer than the agreed time and she didn't charge extra even though she could have based on our contract. We got our proof back within the time she promised and everything looked very nice. I only wished that we could have gotten a lot more proofs (unretouched, at lower res) at first before she gets to the touch-up. We went back and forth a few times via email and Rena was prompt to respond every time. And in the end, everything worked out and we're very happy. Those photos look wonderful. We just had our photography session with Rena Durham during her LA PhotoPalooza specials. We had to take advantage of the amazing offer! So thankful, and glad that we did! My 4 & a half year old son had the time of his life with her! She made him feel so extremely comfortable throughout the shoot. My son is very new to the Entertainment Industry. She taught him, guided him, and he had an absolute blast with Rena beyond belief! He laughed, he danced, jumped, told jokes, played rock star, and poured his heart out! Rena's work is incomparable. She is respectful and caring to the child, in this case, children (twin boys, age 7). She is fun and my boys love her. I highly recommend Rena Durham as a child photographer, my son just had his photoshoot with her and he had so much fun while still keeping it professional.
