BUNCH OF THUGS!!! Jewelry exchanges always feel sketchy to me and this perception was confirmed by my experience at Renaissance Gems on Military and Boynton Beach Blvd. The International Jewelry Exchange where Renaissance is located is in the plaza with Bealls. I was helped at the counter by Michelle, who initially seemed pleasant. I mentioned to her that I needed a better lock on the chain that I was wearing and she assured me that the jeweler could replace it. I gave her the necklace with the charm on it. The charm is a unique inherited piece that is very special to me. Michelle gave me a price of $25 to replace the lock and the jeweler interrupted her saying, "I said $20, not $25"-sketchiness. After the jeweler replaced the lock, Michelle brought my chain back to me but the charm was missing. When I asked her for the charm, she and the jeweler asked me if I was sure that the charm was on the chain when she took it from me, and asked me if it dropped on my side of the counter. Their first instinct was to blame me. I was sure they had the charm because I thought they might clean it for me. When I somehow convinced the thugs that I did not have it, additional staff appeared to help search. This involved sweeping crud from their floor into dust pans and searching for the charm in the dust pans. I sat quietly for a half hour while they did this but I was upset as the charm is irreplaceable. Finally, Michelle told me that they are going to review the cameras. Why they did not do this in the first place is baffling. When they reviewed the cameras, they could see that Michelle banged into a cabinet with the tray that was holding my necklace. They moved furniture in the area where it had dropped, found my charm, and gave it to me. I was relieved to have it but I assumed that they were not going to charge me the 20 bucks after putting me through the aggravation of losing my charm and having to wait a half hour while they searched for it. Well, they went nuts. Four people were yelling at me about how I should appreciate the effort that they went through to find it. REALLY!!! What kind of jeweler loses the customer's item? An irreputable one! The jeweler came out and pulled the new clasp off of my necklace and put my old one on without using tools-just with his hands, and not well. The outburst of the staff brought the attention of the armed security guard who pushed me out of the store not even allowing me to use the mirror to put my necklace back on. My son purchased an engagement ring from Renaissance in 2017. It consisted of a 2 carat emerald cut center stone with a halo. He was disappointed with the finished product because the design because the diamonds were hidden by a heavy basket and thick prongs. Joe offered to remake the ring for a charge. My son declined Joe's offer. Over the years several halo stones were lost. Several jewelers praised the quality of the center stone but said the halo stones were of the lowest quality. Today our son & daughter in law went elsewhere to have the ring reset. The setting was tested with a gold gun measuring 10 carat not 14 as marked. This just added insult to injury. I was taking a walk through the jewelry exchange and found Joseph at Renaissance. I really didn't like this exchange at all and quite frankly the vendors were not helpful or friendly, at least with me anyway. I was just about to leave when I spotted a pair of earrings that I just loved. Joey gave me a great price and I wear them all the time. I also met his associate, Nancy. I talked to Nancy for a while & she was just so warm and helpful and I left so much happier than when I walked in. Great people, great prices and outstanding service. This jewelry exchange is very small and there are quite a few empty spaces. The neighborhood is not the best and the shopping center is old. Please be careful if you come here, especially if you are alone like I was. Safety is key. They are located on the NW corner of West Boynton Beach Blvd and Millay Trail near the Boston Market. I find it difficult to believe that a 5 star review describing practically the same repair as the 2 star review that was posted just a few days earlier is authentic. Sounds too much like a review written deliberately just to oppose the 2 star review. Sad that some people won't take ownership of their mistakes. Still disappointed they weren't honest enough to tell me upfront that the repair needed to be redone instead of just letting me pick my engagement ring up hoping I wouldn't notice. If you value your jewelry think twice before "taking a chance" your repair will be done right. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING ENGRAVE under the care of Joseph Ciardullo. I was given a bracelet as a gift and felt it would be nice to have the person's first name, last initial and date. First letter capitalized followed by lower case, initial of last name in cap After a week June 06, the bracelet is ready, I paid, noticing afterwards that all letters are in caps. It is returned for correction. It is now June 25 and it looks ok, until a few hours of wearing I see that all lettering is blackened, not able to read the engraving. Upon returning to the store the following day in disappointment, Joseph responds telling me it's a chemical reaction. This man was not up front with me initially when accepting the work. read more

In typical jewelry sales they have been fine but my experience with watch repair was blood boiling. First of all I don't think they really even offer it except they took my watches and said they would get back to me (Movado & Tag). I received a call about a week later saying estimate was $300. I said to myself wow but quickly said to them "ok do it". I never heard from them again. I'm convinced they would never have called me. Anyways I sent my wife in almost a year later and she wasn't sure which counter and of course we did not have our ticket. They told her it can't be this establishment because we don't fix watches (except mine were in their possession) my wife walked around them for 1/2 hour asking who might have the watches. What a disaster. They finally and probably reluctantly fessed up and said they may have them. They did. My wife paid them $300 plus tax and stormed out of there only to find out when we got home the watches were fixed but my Tag had a link missing. A problem that was not there before and a strange one. Also for the $300 plus dollars I thought they were going to change the glass but that did not get done. Honestly I have no idea what cost $300 but my Tag is useless with a missing link. read more
