We selected this hotel due to the proximity of our plans and my decades-long familiarity with the area. We requested a Manhattan view, and it was granted. The 5th floor hallway was newly renovated with updated carpeting, wallpaper, and wall fixtures. The rooms received a refresh also (new window coverings, new carpet, and some new furniture). This is a busy hotel with lots of wear and tear...it was ready! Good water pressure in the shower and ample towels. The AC unit was quiet. You will hear a little highway noise, as you're right on Route 3. It's nothing that will keep you awake. The bar at Finch's restaurant opens at 5:00 PM on weekends. I don't believe there was a parking fee. Nothing irritates me more than paying for parking at a hotel parking lot. Come on, people! read more

I would not recommend staying here. I stayed here recently while doing some work at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, so the hotel was not my choice. But, I expected more from the Renaissance, especially given that Marriott considers this a "premium" brand. I was given an accessible room, which I have no issue with by itself, However, the room was very dated and several elements were worn/dirty. There was quite a bit of rust in the shower and stains (rust stains?) on the shower curtain. The shower curtain itself was neither wide enough nor long enough to 'cover' the full shower, leading to lots of water on the floor. The floor of the tub was quite slippery as well, and at least one of the grab bars was loose. I had enough difficulty as an able-bodied person, this does not seem like it would be suitable for someone with mobility issues or other challenges. The staff also were not great. My check in was quick; however, while I was checking in someone else also was and trying to use a gift card. The staff member helping this guest merely stated "I don't know how to process a gift card." She then proceeded to ask the person checking me in if he knew how to process a gift card, which he did not. The staff member then proceeded to go into a diatribe of sorts about how she knew the other systems but not how to process gift cards. Um, okay? The rest of the room was fine. A bit dated, perhaps, and the safe didn't work, but otherwise okay I guess. The lobby is nice enough and does have a little 'sundries shop' (I did not use it, just noticed it). Also, I came into my room on my last night and the TV was on, with the "Welcome" screen and someone else's name. I'm sure it was just a glitch, but pretty unnerving, especially as a female traveling alone, to wonder if the hotel had accidentally given someone else a key that would open my room. It's not the worst hotel I've stayed in, but sadly it's not far above that, especially considering this is an Renaissance brand. read more

We had a great post MetLife Concert experience at the Renaissance. The evening front desk attendant Dan was playing music from the concert and welcomed us graciously at midnight. He was heating water for soup so a child could have a late night snack. Bacilia our room attendant checked in to see if we had everything we needed and Danelly attending the Concierge Lounge was amazing. The eggs were fresh, fruit delicious and bacon hardy. Not your typical Marriott breakfast. I thought it was outstanding. Needless to say rooms were clean, beds comfortable, but the staff made our stay memorable. read more

I choose this hotel because the price was obviously better than anything in New York City. We came for a quick 24hrs in New York as the hotel is in New Jersey but, close enough for driving into the city. Also, even closer the American Dream. The lobby was very nice with great decor with a small hotel store available. The rooms were very spacious with the microwave in the lobby area. I did not have time to check out the on-site bar and restaurant. The staff was friendly and there was a $12 charge for parking added to the room. The hotel sit right off the highway but, there are no attractions surrounding the hotel. Otherwise , I will be back. read more

I can't speak much of the hotel since we weren't guests. However, the lobby is pretty. However, if you're attending Bananas Comedy Club, as we did, double check your receipt!! (The reason I'm leaving the review under the hotel is because I understand it's the hotel who manages food and beverages.) Back in March (yes, it's now July), we attended a comedy show and had a wonderful time. We ordered a sampler platter, 2 sodas, and 2 glasses of wine. The bill comes out towards the end of the show, it's dark, and my husband hands over his credit card to pay. As we're walking out, he comments to me that the bill was over $110. Seemed a little high, but it is what it is. We get to the car and look over the receipt only to find we were charged $42, for a bottle of wine when I only ordered a glass. I spoke to a family member of a friend who works there and was told they got a new system that weekend and it was a common mistake, but an easy fix. I was told to call John in catering to get it straightened out. I've left several messages and have not heard a word. read more

The hallways are cute with the prettiest light sconces. A light walk away, I loved the first floor bathroom's luxe design. The room had spacious bathrooms and area space. READ ABOUT MY DINNER AT FINCH'S (THEIR ONSITE DINE-IN RESTAURANT) IN MY FOOD REVIEW! I love the soft pillows on the bed, very comforting. The blankets had a bit of weight which was also comforting. Thank goodness for their complimentary (on shower wall) full size shampoo and conditioner; there was a body wash available as well. Hotel sized bar of soap and lotion stood on the sink/vanity. I appreciated the extra counter space and dish. The room at night was peaceful. I chose breakfast on the 9th floor and it did not disappoint. It was buffet style. I have to return in order to learn the breakfast attendant's name. She was very helpful and kind. I put a scoop of egg on my plate with some 3 turkey sausage links; I also put 1/2 a Belgian waffle, and half a scoop of their delicious breakfast potatoes. I chose to pour a glass of orange juice. While grabbing napkins, I grabbed a croissant, delectable. It was a lovely breakfast I couldn't finish. I'm not sure if there is a pool on the premises as I did not ask. We spent one night in this hotel. Thank goodness we didn't have to stay more. I was woken up every hour by the air conditioning/cooling vent. The attached video was taken at 1am. The pillows were paper thin and I woke up with a throbbing neck ache. The service desk was decent and polite but I just needed a place to sleep for a night and I couldn't even get that. read more

My family stayed here at this hotel a few years ago. We had a terrible experience and was promised by Peter Warner (Front Office Manager) a comp stay for a future stay. We recently reached out and spoke to the new director there Seidou Ngapout. He declined the comp even though I have a email stating a promise of a future comp stay at the hotel. He said they are under new management. Beware staying at this hotel because they don't honor their commitments to the hotel industry. I will be contacting the BBB about this poor hospitably and poor business ethics. If you're staying here at this hotel, don't let them promise you anything, make sure they fix the problem and give you something that they can't take away. read more

We decided to move accommodations from Manhattan to Meadowlands NJ so that leaving MetLife would be much easier and it was the best decision. First off, the hotel is ultra modern, cool and clean. The staff, efficient courteous and helpful. They have a bar & restaurant onsite but the restaurant closes after 1000 breakfast and does not open again until five. The bar does not open until five but stays open late as we discovered when we went to it after midnight!! The rooms are oh so spacious especially after leaving Manhattan. Outside of the hotel, there is nothing available, such as restaurant shops gas stations so make sure you have all that you need prior to your arrival. read more

Our terror begins before we even arrived. For context, our stay was set to begin after a long journey in from California, due to traveling all day we were set arrive at the hotel around 7 which is nothing out of the ordinary. When 10 minutes out from the hotel we received a phone call from Tiffany telling us that due to other guests checking in before us and others extending their stay, we no longer had a room, essentially stating that it is our fault for not checking in earlier that they over sold. After being transferred to a gentleman who claimed to be a manager (can't remember his name but it started with an S), we were told to cancel our reservation and find other accommodations. Their only offer was for us to stay at another property for one night free of charge and come back to their location for the remainder of our stay, the alternate hotel was not only a down grade but would be an incredible hassle with the amount of luggage we brought and the fact that two members in our party are disabled. While sitting in the hotel parking lot and on the line with corporate, we receive another phone call saying that they magically found a room for us and stated some nonsense that they had to kick someone out of their room to accommodate us. Due to the inconvenience we were offered free breakfast the next day and were given 20% off for that night's dinner should we choose to dine at the hotel but opted out. While waiting for our Uber to eat else where, we see bus loads of kids come into the hotel, obviously checking in after us. So why tell us that it's our fault our room was given away when we were last to check in when this huge party came after us. It is their fault for over booking. The room itself was clean but the seal on the shower was broken and a tons of water would seep out every time we showered, making a huge mess, we didn't even bother to complain because we knew there were no other rooms and the staff was rude. Quite frankly the construction of the shower itself was also dumb, you hit your self on the control constantly and you are also unable to change the rough shower pressure. Lastly, we didn't not want maid service but most hotels will at least leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom incase, but no, we had to walk down at 6 am when we discovered they couldn't even give us that courtesy. Upon checking out, the women we spoke to, Lynette, was nice and we told her all our problems, she instructed that a manger will be in contact with us, two days later, we have yet to hear anything. Typically we are dedicated Hilton Gold members but thought we'd give a Marriott location a try, big mistake. read more

It's convenient and does the job, nothing spectacular. The shower pressure was subpar. The towels are very low quality. If you are staying in the area, you need a car to travel around comfortably. What I did like was the view from the 9th floor. The beds are very comfortable. I enjoyed the different events the hotel hosted sometimes. For example, my partner and I got to enjoy a comedy show for $30 each (though it only lasted one hour). There is a nice bar downstairs with a restaurant (however, it's only open for dinner). read more

I'm a Marriott rewards member and when I booked my room online, the reservation was for a room on the 6th floor or higher. Upon checking in I was assigned to a room on the 2nd floor. A little disappointing, but not a big deal. I called the front desk to ask them for a late checkout the next day. The employee said he could grant me a 2:30 PM check out which I thought was gracious of him. Not so. The following day, I get a knock on my door around 12:30 PM from housekeeping repeatedly despite having the do not disturb sign on my door. I then get multiple calls from the housekeeping department. When I have a moment to answer, I am told my checkout was for 11 AM. There was no record of my confirmed late checkout the night before. The employee didn't mark anything in their system. To make matters more difficult, I am told I now need to call the front desk back to verbally confirm I do not want housekeeping services and that my checkout will be late. I've never dealt with such blatant incompetence and unprofessionalism. On top of all this I felt an air of hostility from the staff and did not feel like my privacy was respected. I went to get a smoothie prior to checking out, and when I returned to my room, my keycard no longer worked to open the door. I was met with glares from housekeeping who were all crowded together on the 2nd floor talking amongst themselves. When I went to speak with the front desk I was treated as if I was a major inconvenience rather than the front desk employee apologize for their mistake. I was gleeful to leave the hotel. I am giving 2 stars because the room itself was spacious and clean. read more

If you're loyal to Marriott you know this is supposed to be more upscale than the Courtyard next door and it is. However, other than the trendy looking bar and okay dinner options, it's really nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly upon check in and anything else we needed during a short stay. Annoying things: some plumbing things like a slow drip in the shower, low toilet water, and clogged sink. Also, nearby, there is a big indoor family entertainment complex nearby, so don't be surprised if there's lots of kids. AC doesn't go below 68 degrees. Consider checking the online user manual for ClimateMaster ATA11UO3 thermostat to hack the temp. Overall this was a very normal hotel experience. Nothing special. Friendly and welcoming staff. Not worth the money we paid for the services provided. It needs an upgrade- like really bad. No microwave in the room. You have to count to ten when you close the fridge door. Rusty shower head. Woke up to ants crawling on me and in my bed. It took 2 phone calls to get someone up there to look at it. By that time there were about 20 ants and a trail leading from the wall to in my bed of more coming. They put me in another room only to be serenaded all night with a running toilet. Also, I kept jumping every time something brushed across me because I kept thinking it was bugs. To compensate me, I was offered 10K points which is nothing because it cost 60K points to stay there. I will never stay there again when I come to the next football game regardless of proximity to MetLife. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay. read more

We stay here whenever we're in town to ski/snowboard at Big Snow. Everyone who works here is exceptionally pleasant and gracious. It's extremely generous of the hotel to allow us to leave our luggage in a secure space even after we check out. This visit we had the lovely opportunity to speak with Shellie, Tiffany and Rebecca. The lobby is swanky. The room was clean and modern, as it should be for a Renaissance. Check-in was smooth, despite initially being assigned a double bed when I wanted a king. In fairness, I did not specify when booking the "one king or double bed" in the optional free text section, but the front desk could have asked for my preference when I checked in before I lugged my stuff up to the 9th floor and back. Internet worked fine. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and breakfast in the concierge lounge were both good despite the somewhat limited options. There really aren't too many Marriott options around MetLife Stadium so this is your best bet if you're in town for a game or an event. read more

I visited the Renaissance Meadowlands for a two night stay for a friend's wedding weekend. I started off with a good impression of the hotel. We were able to get hotel block rooms for $155/night, which isn't too bad for the area, and being so close to NYC. The location is pretty good! Under 10 miles from NYC, and an easy drive to Starbucks, the Rutherford Diner (delicious!) and other shops in town. Upon arrival; there's plenty of parking (always a plus!). The lobby looks nice, airy, and clean. There's a restaurant to the right of the front entrance, and a bar/lounge area next to that with a "business center" as well. The business center isn't another room which I thought was a bit unusual, but that's okay. The check-in process was simple, and we were on our way to the room. The front desk was polite. Our room was fine, nothing to write home about, but nonetheless comfortable for the most part. But here's my issue with the stay: It was probably the worst hotel shower. The shower head was rusty, crusted over, and not centered. I was wondering why the shower head was pushed all the way to the side so it faced the wall (if that makes sense). Turns out that if you straighten it, the water goes clear onto the floor. The suite we were all meeting in was on the 7th floor, which you cannot get to unless you have a room key for floors 7-9. Which is fine. But this one I was holding a ton of things (desserts, bridesmaids dress, bags, etc) so I asked one of the housekeeping ladies if she would be able to swipe me into he elevator for the 7th floor. She could've just told me no, but instead ignored me completely, told me to use the other elevator (neither of which will take you up without a room key) and walked away as I was still talking to her. A bit rude. Overall an average hotel. Nice facade, but could work out a couple of things. The hotel lounge was nice though! read more

Nice, clean, convenient hotel not too far from MetLife Stadium. Shuttle to stadium for $10pp each way the night we were there. Comfy bed, Aveda toiletries, bright bathroom, makeup mirror, blow dryer, iron, coffee and coffeemaker, mini fridge, full length mirror. The drinks from the hotel lounge were good. The food we had for dinner was decent but the pizza and burger we had from the late night bar menu was pretty gross. Tasted like microwaved food. At least the staff were friendly. Take note, the bar/restaurant close by 2am and the staff stops serving food and drinks around 1:30am. There were a lot of unhappy hotel guests bc they were turned away and there were no other options in the hotel. The view from our room was of the parking lot, main road, and nearby cemetery. The hotel has made some upgrades with new bathrooms but some of the other features in the room are dated. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, there was no full sized trash can, the standing room lamp as leaning against the wall and so was the mirror. i haven't even stepped into my room yet and the customer experience that i received from Lanetta (i hope i spelled this correctly) was UNMATCHED. she knew who i was before i walked in the door. i also had two reservations, one with points and a separate rate. she was able to check me in for both, acknowledged my platinum status and made sure i was okay with my room. the kitchen was down so she offered breakfast instead. before i left she made sure i was made of all of the amenities in the hotel and asked me if i needed anything else. this is my second time here and im never disappointed. read more

Wanting to find a hotel closer to NYC, we've opted to stay here during the Labor Day (yes, I've spelt it the American way since this is a review in the US) weekend after all the surrounding hotels in the city were fully booked (I guess due to Electric Zoo?). This hotel allows us to use transit to get to the city, since there are three bus lines run by NJ Transit that run directly to PABT. The hotel atmosphere was excellent. The lobby was brightly lit, and the concierge was quick, attentive, and efficient in checking us in. The rooms were also spacious and clean, with ample room for stuff such as laptops. The wi-fi was also fast, in fact it's much faster than my home internet. The only complaint I have of this place is that it's located in the middle of a highway intersection, which is kind of a weird place to have a hotel...needless to say, there was no sidewalk between the bus stops and the hotel. read more

I stayed here for a couple nights for work recently, and it was a really pleasant stay. Service at the front desk was really helpful teaching me how to use the bus to New York City and which subways to take to my destination once in the city, and they called ride service for me when needed. There was hot apple cider (it could be replaced and refilled a bit more often as it was wonderfully hot the first night I was there but not so much the other times) and water with fruit in the lobby, which was really nice and welcoming. The room was comfy and homey and had everything I needed: comfy bed and linens, good quality TV, wifi, lots of plugs for all my technical contraptions, refrigerator, good coffee maker with coffee, tea, cream and sugar available, iron, hair dryer, safe, laundry, ironing board, luggage rack -- but best of all, I loved their Aveda (love Aveda!!) toiletries of shampoo/conditioner, lotion, soaps!! Loved it!! I read the reviews of the breakfast foods in the restaurant. I didn't go to the restaurant itself, but I had breakfast room service (ordered through the card you hang on your door before 1AM) two times, and I was very happy. The first time I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes with coffee and juice - it was good, tasty, the bacon was cooked perfectly. The 2nd time, I ordered coffee, juice and pastries and it was yum! -- I didn't think I would eat most of the pastries, but I couldn't stop myself because they were fresh and warm - love carbs haha! I would recommend staying here as it was very pleasant, it easy to find via taxi, and the service was really, really great to me. read more

Incredible! The staff is incredible. Enjoyed the hotel very much. Very nice indoor pool, very clean and updated rooms. Stayed for 4 nights in 2 rooms - both were great. Now about the staff. Before arriving I sent a email asking about how to get from hotel to NYC and received a immediate detailed response. Bus stop is directly across the street and we rode the NJT each day to the Port Authority on the edge of Times Square and to various places in Manhattan on the subway system. Excellent directions, including some additional directions and maps in person. We also asked about how to get from Penn Station to the hotel and they recommended a car service, AAA-GIANTS, which was excellent as well. Housekeeping was responsive to our needs and always courteous. Front desk was great and made several local dining recommendations. Bar service was great, even figuring out a way to get us a glass of chocolate milk late one evening, while they were very busy. After several days walking around NYC, my Dad was getting a little worn out. I asked the front desk about a wheelchair rental, they called Michael the manager and he helped us secure a wheelchair for the day. Nice touch. Each morning we had a light breakfast on the 9th floor and desserts in the evening. The ladies tending the concerige suite were very nice, attentive, and professional. On several occasions they recognized we were looking for something specific and arranged it. From fruit loops to Diet Pepsi, they took good care of us. Food was good too! WiFi fees are waived if a MR gold or platinum member. Otherwise they were $10 - $15 per night, depending on the speed you choose. Free parking. When I return to the NYC on business over the next few years, I will try to stay here and ride the NJT into the city, instead of staying in the city with all the noise and the high prices. We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel itself is very clean. The room was spacious, and the a/c kept it cool in 95 degree weather. Also it was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a great shower, with sliding glass doors that prevented water from dripping on the floor, unlike a lot of other hotels I'ver stayed at. Hot water and great water pressure. Aveda Rosemary Mint products in the shower were a nice touch. The location is perfect, since you are minutes away from Metlife Stadium, NYC, or the Turnpike if you want to head north or south. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a nicely equipped fitness center with treadmills that work, free weights, etc. Unfortunately, no pool. There is a washer and dryer, for $1 each, if you need to do laundry. The Colonial Diner, half a mile up the street, is a great place to eat. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, on my next visit to Jersey. read more
