My man and I stayed at Aloft Meadowlands from January 9th to January 10th for date night. It is in close proximity to the American Dream Mall, and it is by far one of the nicest, fanciest, and more upscale expensive yet slightly affordable stays. This was our first time doing date night together at a hotel, so we did go somewhere nicer the first time around. It was a great stay! BOOKING My man planned and booked everything. He booked it via booking.com and had a slight issue because he accidentally booked it for the wrong date. Booking does have a change of reservation policy, it is free and included, but the first 2 people over the phone at booking did not want to do their jobs. The third person finally did their job and seamlessly changed the reservation date. Why isn't the option available online, I'll never know, that could have all been avoided! He works overtime quite a bit and late nights so I didn't blame him for a second! It meant the world to me that he planned this all on his own for me. So he made a mistake, big whoop, things happen when you're exhausted. PARKING The parking lot is spacious and free! Plenty of parking to choose from! Obviously we also stayed off season during a weekday so that might have also factored into things. CHECKING-IN My god this place was stunning! Supposedly this is a 3-star hotel, but it is definitely the best 3-star hotel we stayed in thus far! Checking-in was a breeze, had no issues at all. ROOM The room is gorgeous! It is an open floor plan, but you are going to be mesmerized and in love with this place! I definitely want to go back at some point! Everything was so well lit. I loved the open floor plan bathroom. The sliding door to the toilet was chefs kiss! You wouldn't have even known it was there. And there's a mirror on the sliding door! There's also a floor to ceiling interesting mirror on the opposite wall. Stunning! The wallpaper options were interesting and eccentric to say the least, but we still enjoyed the vibe. It was very hipster I guess you could say. Definitely a vibe! The bed was comfortable as well! All the pillows were nice and soft, overall the whole stay and date night was a hit! And because we had such a good time with the first date night, we decided to keep doing it! Pun not intended. The TV and remote also worked well! We were able to log into my Netflix account with ease, and it logs out on its own as well! FOOD There is no breakfast included, but there are plenty of restaurants around the area to go grab a bite to eat. We actually took a quick walk in the evening, after checking in, to grab dinner at Outback Steakhouse. But there's so many other places, Nrgzie a juice smoothie shop, Chipotle, Carnegie Diner & Cafe, as well as others. If you don't like anything in the area, the American Dream Mall has many options to choose from as well! OVERALL This hotel is right near many other hotels in the area. The American Dream Mall is nearby, but it is not in walking distance. You either need to drive, get an Uber/Lyft or take a shuttle over if the hotel provides shuttle service. A lot of the surrounding hotels do provide a shuttle service, so just check in with the front desk. My man and I love to snowboard before date night, that's why I mention American Dream Mall quite often. That's our shared hobby and how we met. This area is very clean and safe, so you can rest assured and have a great stay! I know I sure did! Unfortunately I don't have many photos because we stayed here prior to me starting to Yelp, but I hope I come back and get some great photos eventually! Overall stunning place and great stay! After searching for a nice and affordable hotel in the area, my bf and I decided on Aloft! Aloft is located where all the stores are in Secaucus, you can literally see them from windows in the hotel. This is perfect because it's close to shopping, food, Meadowlands and the American Dream Mall. Upon walking in, I was blown away by how aesthetically pleasing it is. There's a bar, convenience store, pool table, unique furniture and more. Once we checked in with the front desk, we made our way up to the 6th floor. Our room was right across from the ice machine which was perfect since I'm always drinking water. One of the reasons why I picked this room was because of how different it is compared to other hotels. When you walk in, the bathroom is the first thing you see. I love how it's open and the only private area is where the toliet is, there's a sliding door with a long mirror on it so whoever's not in the bathroom can use it. The shower has glass sliding doors so if you're not comfortable being nude around the person you're sharing the room with, maybe this hotel isn't for you. One of the things I look for in a hotel is lighting and mirrors. This room had 3 mirrors! The mirror in the bathroom had amazing lighting. The other two mirrors were long so perfect to check out your outfit in. The room also had a corner couch with a table. We wanted a king bed so that's what we got. There was a mini fridge as well. I love how the flat screen TV on the wall can be pulled out so if you're on the couch, you can angle it to see better or if you're on the bed you can do the same. There are tons of outlets too; another thing I look for in a hotel. The bed was super comfy and inviting. I didn't find anything wrong with the hotel which is great especially since my bf and I inspect everything before using. The view from our room was nice. I also saw there is an indoor pool. I wish I had more time to explore the lobby and the entire hotel itself but I will be back! read more

Stayed for 3 nights with family. I appreciated the decor and cleanliness I saw when walking into the building which also translated to the condition of the room. I will say the room was on the smaller side but that didn't really present any issue. I used the gym which was sufficient for what I needed to do but there is also a LA fitness in walking distance if you want a more extensive gym. Also had drinks at the bar in the lobby which to me were pretty pricey for their size. I would recommend visiting one of the nearby restaurants for drinks for better value. There are a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The staff was friendly for the most part. I did run into an unpleasant front desk clerk while checking out. I hope she was just having a bad start to her day and it isn't her usual demeanor because it was very off putting. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Keep in mind it is not a luxury hotel but it is very nice for its ranking. read more

Nice new hotel owned by Marriott...enjoyed the night stay here while in town. self park outside. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. The lobby was very nice - nice smell as one walks in. There is a bar in the lobby and a pool table right across it. Lounge chairs and tv while you wait to check in or go out. Marriott members - don't forget to get points for your stay... Had a king size bed - room is smaller than most hotels but good the stay. Very interesting window blinds with numbers...reminds me of the matrix. The room has a nice small fridge to keep drinks cool. Hand sanitizer wipes by the tv remote in the room. The view from the room was of the city / front parking lot. Be careful in the shower...the floor is slippery and turning on the water went from cold and had to wait to turn hot, then hard to adjust. the water pressure was a bit low as well. We have reservations 2 rooms for 4 nights with our family, one of the room has water damaged from the roof - see video. We live in this room until next day 9 AM next day and hotel employees are not given any support when this happens, we have to live in one room for the night because the water damaged. I haven't heard anything back from management team until next day PM. Poor service. No room service until day 3 . Do not come this hotel! read more

This was a perfect stop on our way up north, for my husband, myself and our kitty cat! We absolutely, love this hotel, first bc it is pet friendly, and they do not charge an additional pet fee. On top of that, we really enjoy the overall cleanliness, comfort and the modern decor of this hotel. It is also very accessible to I95 so we did not have to go out of the way. This will definitely be a stop for us in the future when we head that direction again. read more

On the morning of check out the cleaning crew entered my room before I even checked out simply because they watched me walked downstairs. This hotel is probably in my top 10. Love the decor, that is what caught my attention. The idea to have a far & pool table in the hotel lobby is awesome. All hotels should have something like that. There was ample seating in the lobby area to just relax. There was a convenience store next to the entrance. Breakfast is not complimentary and there is no microwaves in rooms. Room was clean. Loved the automatic blockout shades. There is a refrigerator, safe, coffee maker, steamer. Location is perfect, near several restaurants and a Walmart. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay near the American Dream or a resting spot near NYC. I was calling around to different places because my cat was coming along for my road trip. I was quoted insane prices and was relieved when I found a place that didn't charge extra. We checked in around midnight and had a room facing the highway. I was a little nervous about the noise but we didn't hear a thing outside. Having a cat, I'm very anxious about whether or not the rooms are clean enough because I didn't want my cat eating something toxic. The room was spotless and my cat had a fun time going between the bathroom area and bedroom. Overall, it was a clean and comfortable stay. read more

This hotel has a bit of a trendy vibe. Not as fancy as a W but it has fun, modern decor. My room had a striped rainbow rug for example. It was clean and had a very spacious bathroom, so no complaints. The hotel is walking distance from several buses that take you into NYC in 35 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. It's near a lot of fast food and chain restaurants. Red Robin is in the same lot and Outback Steakhouse is across the street. Several others are within blocks. Had a pleasant one night stay. The hotel itself is easily accessible and the rooms have a fresh and open layout. The rooms are small and there is very little space to unpack clothing. There's an exposed hanging rack but no real closet. The whole room is a loft set up with no closed separation between the shower and bedroom, didn't bother me. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for an extended trip or if you have kids. The staff were very personable. read more

04/26/23 Place was great. Clean and quiet. However, I left at 4AM to complete the work I am here for. I get back at 10:40AM to find out they checked me out and gave my room to someone else already. I never checked out and had both of my keys with me. I was told check out was 12PM originally. And the front desk won't accommodate me without paying for another day! With how expensive everything is here in the NY area, it left me in a pretty sticky situation. Won't be coming back to this location. read more

I'm Ambassador Marriott guest and I would NOT recommend this hotel whatsoever. Rooms NOT properly clean. Hand soap not provided in room. Toilet paper half torn. Refrig didn't work. Decor is cheap cheap cheap. Hairs on towels. Rough people at this hotel as constantly fighting and yelling in the halls! Had a late checkout of 4pm, and front office clerk unable to check if my key would still work at 3:45 pm so she sent one of her MX guys up with me to open my door. Incompetent completely! GM refused to speak with me today so now he is forcing me to publish reviews of this hotel on all available websites to inform other potential guest of what to expect if they stay here! read more

Hotel staff is unprepared, rude and wanted to kick us out at midnight!?! Some of the staff are nice, but the majority is always angry, looks like they hate being there and doing anything to help. My friend and I we're staying there because a pipe burst in our building and there was a problem with the card credit the building used to pay for our stay, instead of calling the building management to clear out things during the day, the employee at the front desk called our room and demanded us to pay bcz building card wasn't working, we asked him we could figure it out next day because nobody would answer midnight, he even attempted to call the police to remove us!?!? It was Saturday 12am. No hotel has the right to remove someone in the middle of night, who's not denning to pay, as we could not get in touch with our building we ended up paying and calling the management to sort things out next day. The whole situation we've been through with the problem in our apartment, we really didn't need that sort of treatment from the hotel, unacceptable. Plus they don't clean the rooms, I stayed there couple days and nobody cleaned the room, not even one day, they said it's bcz of Covid but nobody is using mask or keeping social distance, there's utensils available but it's not in the package, the utensils are open siting on a cup in the counter downstairs, common areas has no distancing seatings, bar is open normally, so Covid is only an excuse to charge cleaning fee, but they do not clean the rooms at all. read more

Aloft, a property by Marriott and a hidden treasure by any means in the Town in Secaucus, NJ. I stayed 1 night there. Upon check in I had forgotten to even make a booking ! But made it via the Marriott App at the front desk. And the front desk employee checked me in. The rooms are a small size but very well laid out giving plenty of space . And One employee stood out for her excellent customer service . Destiny. My partner and I were shocked at the accommodation to an emergency we had to rush to in New York City . Although every circumstance in people's life is different she handled it professionally and like a loyal Marriott Brand employee who knew how to assist to customers needs. The birthday plan was to head to Jersey spend Saturday Evening in the hotel and head to the Legoland Discovery Center to celebrate Caleb's birthday. Despite having a reservation when we arrived we were told that the hotel had overbooked and that there were no rooms available. She and her colleague tell me that it's a first come first serve basis and it doesn't matter that we have a reservation because the hotel is allowed to sell out the rooms. (Apparently the dog show was taking place on Sunday and everyone showed up for their reservation) I'm there with two children and our bags in absolute utter shock because I've never experienced anything like this. As I'm working to find a solution,a couple approaches the registration desk and the same person pictured below proceeds to provide them with a room key. I'm livid,but calm but I approach the desk and ask how are they being provided a room when they arrived after we did. She begins elevating her voice explaining that they have a different type of reservation. Soo the first come first serve basis is not applicable here I ask. I mean I just want to clarify because a few minutes ago you turned us a way because you do not have a room. Throughout this entire interaction I was calm. I wasn't yelling or behaving in a threatening manner. I only share this detail because what happened next left me completely flabbergasted. I was approached by hotel security calmly and he said he was asked to escort me out. Are you absolutely kidding me‼ I'm not leaving because I have a reservation here and until 3 min ago this is where I planned to stay tonight. Get this ANOTHER couple walks in and guess what!!!!! Provided a room key. I ask again what is going on and asked for this young ladies name because this is not Marriott customer service. I snapped this picture because she refused to give me her name and began shouting at the top of her lungs for me to GET OUT!!!! Not only was I turned away despite having a reservation. I was treated like absolute garbage by this establishment on while with my 8 and 9 year children!!! She went in the back and never came out. Im assuming she was claiming she was afraid because of what happened next. Not sure why when she was the one yelling at me ‍ A friend helped me secure another reservation at another hotel and as I got safely in my car with the boys the Police showed up!!!! I'll wait for an answer because I'm still in absolute shock that this occurred. Pull all the hotel video footage because you would assume from this story I was behaving irately yelling or posing a threat to guests. None of the above occurred. I was behaving like a shocked mom with two kids trying to understand what was transpiring and sort new accommodations in the lobby of the hotel I was supposed to being staying in. read more

Bartender really rude and nasty. I asked a question and she acted like I was bothering her. I am staying for a week and so far all staff have been really pleasant especially housekeeping. The young lady at the bar Saturday at 5:00pm does not seem mature enough to be behind a bar. During the rest of my stay I will avoid her go to nearby bars. Stayed here Saturday night and there was a DJ playing very , very loud music in the lobby. This was so loud that is was shaking my room on the second floor. I have to be up very early in the morning to work and this was awful. After complaining to the manager she was not helpful at all and was rude. " this is what we do here at this hotel" is what she said . So it's basically screw the guests who are staying here and trying to have a restful evening ; after all why else would you be staying at a hotel ? This goes on until midnight !!! Totally disrespectful to guests ; unacceptable. The people attending this event were not even staying at the hotel anyway so this makes no sense at all to do something like this. I have stayed in this hotel before, everything was great! But this time around was not good. I walked in around 4:30pm ( check in 4pm) rooms were not ready, they gave me one room and said the others will be ready in half hour... I booked 3 rooms. After 30 min I went downstairs and the rooms were not ready... I took me a very stern phone call and around 7:30 pm the rooms were given to me and one of them in a different floor. Then they had a dj downstairs and a party with no social distancing and people smoking weed.. the elevators, lobby and the entrance had a strong weed smell... some of the men was staring at some of the girls and asking them to go with them... very unpleasant. We wanted to have a drink at the bar and it was impossible because of the men being pushy, very uncomfortable environment. Then in the morning we order breakfast it was a group of 10 people we ok ordered food and it took sooooo long to get the food, we understand it was a big group and they supposedly had no staff and the manager was making breakfast... it took 35 min to get the first bowl of food... Then a fight outside some people started physically fighting inside and outside the lobby area, one of us called the police and the person that was making our breakfast ran outside and broke up the fight with our food still not finished... it was a horrible experience. I travel a lot I I brought all my closest friends and family and this is what we dealt with... staff was not trained properly, service was bad, waited 3:30 hours to get a room it was booked 3 weeks in advanced and the food service was poor and we was charged for poorly made food. Also the lobby night service at the bar are was uncomfortable and very disappointing when I told everyone how great was this place. They lost a loyal customer. read more

I stayed here last week and had a horrible experience with people partying and dogs barking in the room adjacent to mine. As an animal lover I understand wanting to take your pet with you, however if your animal barks at all hours of the night, I have a problem. As I had already booked a repeat trip prior to my first stay, I decided to give them a second chance. Upon checking in I requested that, as a large hotel would it be possible to not be placed next to someone with a dog as I am up at 4:30 am for work. Adrianna placed me on the 7th floor where she said there would be no dogs. Much to my chagrin, a barking dog woke me up 4 hours before I had to leave for work. I called the front desk which was NO help. I decided to check out early and not stay for my prepaid 2 nights. The staff is unhelpful with loud and obnoxious guest having parties. Apparently they pride themselves on being "hip" aka the party hotel. This is not a place you would get a decent nights sleep, it is not what I would consider a hotel but party central. The staff was exceptionally unhelpful and someplace not worth the Marriott name. Not worth staying here if you actually want some rest. People yelling in the hall at all hours........ Not to mention the broken fridge last week that leaked water all over the floor, no soap or shampoo in the shower dispenser.
