If you are not from MN, please do not let this be your first representation of our great state. We came here for a friend's birthday and after unpacking we wanted to go to the bar in the lobby. Immediately when entering he looked at us and goes "let me guess High Noons" now typically sure that's funny but it only gets worse, we politely tell him the shot we want he tells us he doesn't have the stuff to make it, I am just wanting something at this point so I ask for Malibu and cranberry he then looks at us with disgust and says "what? Are you even ladies or are you 18" he then tells us about this blueberry shot they have on happy hour, sure my goodness just give us something. We go to pay hand out IDs and my friend pulls out her temp paper and her clipped ID and without seeing the physical ID or asking for it he immediately denies us rudely, he sees the physical ID in her hand as we're packing up and tries to pull us back in and tells us he will start making our drinks. No Sir you are not getting my money anymore. Later that night we went to the restaurant for her birthday dinner. The menu already has only 10 options for an entree and they told us after ordering apps and drinks that they unfortunately don't have the stuff in the back to make halffff of the menu!! It then took almost an hour to get our food. Please please stay somewhere else, as someone from MN I promise we have much better places to stay. read more

This hotel is filthy! Hair on the bathroom floor and dirt. It looks like they don't clean the room when one guest leaves and the other checks in. My daughter in another room also found blood on the shower curtain the carpet in the hallways are dirty, including big stains in the lobby rug! What a disgrace!!! We enjoyed our stay here. Its a fairly large room, and clean. The free wifi was quick enough to do everything we needed without issues. However, we did find it to be a little on the noisy side, since its close to a main road. Not terrible though. Didn't interrupt our sleep. Also there are no restaurants in the immediate area so you will need a car or rely on delivery. read more

My family and I traveled to Minneapolis so that our daughter could perform at the local highschool. We decided to stay at the Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington Hotel. Upon arrival the hotel has an amazing front awning. Making reservations online made everything easy to check in and the service was wonderful. The front desk has all of these hiking decorations that bring smiles to our faces because my wife and I are both hikers who love to travel to different trails and check out Minnesotas amazing areas. As you walk to the elevators you immediately see a library where all the covers were torn off the books. The trend for this library is "don't judge a book by it's cover." How cool is that? The Amentie's of this fine hotel comes with a pool, a hot tub, and a gym with great equipment. There also is a bar and an elegant dining room to enjoy your continental breakfast. When we arrived to our room it was a tight squeeze with our dolly cart with all of our baggage but we were able to get in without a hitch. The room is elegant with modern art on the walls, the beds were pressed with clean and fresh linens, a desk sat in the corner so I can attend important school work with my laptop, and a mini fridge below where the tv sits. Not only did I get to see my beautiful daughter dance, but I got to enjoy some amazing family time. I like staying here. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Rooms are clean and if you need anything the staff is happy to help. Rooms are clean- lots of counter space in bathroom. Bunch of towels. Beds sleep well and various pillow choices. There's a single row of parking outside the front with a few handicap spaces. Elevators are fast. Club level has breakfast and a dinner/snack each evening. Some parking can feel far on each side and a bunch of steps- I'm not sure how to describe it. I tend not to park down there as I overpack and I don't want to carry my bags up the steps. There's a pool and hot tub- I haven't used those. WiFi is good- it's my go to spot when traveling to the twin cities. read more

My Daughters and I came to Bloomington/ Minneapolis for a vacation. I chose this hotel because I seen all the great reviews. Booooyyyyyy, Was I Mistaken for staying here. Our room was beyond trashed. The Hampton Inn across the parking lot looks luxurious compared to this hotel. Our room (105) was Dirty and Dusty! Broken TV, broken window shade, bugs (we found a small worm in our bathroom and a spider by the desk). All This Happened The First Night! Horrible start. I spent $1200 for 4 nights here. So, not worth it. The only great thing about this Hotel is the STAFF. Very friendly, other than that. Look elsewhere! Ugh. I really enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance Hotel in Bloomington, MN. Parking was free, it wasn't crowded, and the pool area wasn't filled with loud and obnoxious kids. The room was very clean, and the 4th floor was quiet. The fitness center was a neat design, next to the pool. The TV screens either weren't working or had a malfunction on one of the treadmills. Food was good at their restaurant and at the concierge lounge when it was available. Housekeeping did an amazing job during my time there and this was greatly appreciated. read more

High value for money Con: don't get a room by an exit. It's a busy hotel so heavy foot traffic at exits and the doors aren't insulated enough to mitigate the noise. It kept me up all night. I stayed here a few years ago when it was transitioning from the previous hotel to Renaissance. What an impressive improvement. Clean, modern rooms, nice reception area and bar/restaurant. The only hiccup was that the bar was only open until 10, even though it was filled with patrons, the staff was still required to close. I understand reduced hours or even set hours per se, but not on weekends, especially not during spring break. I would definitely stay again and hope they increase hours. read more

We recently scheduled a two-night/day meeting at Renaissance Hotel in Bloomington, occupying some 13 rooms for approximately 20 people, a board meeting room, and banquet room. Many things were good, but some were bad. The GOOD: rooms were clean, board room appropriate, breakfasts were good, staff was friendly and helpful. The BAD: the worst was the banquet food. The walleye was simply not edible. The dessert had been frozen and was served only half thawed out. At least one room had a broken down air conditioner, and another room had a broken handle on the sliding door to the bathroom. What was left of the handle was a sharp piece of protruding metal that tore one agent's arm when passing by it. For the $50 a plate walleye, the hotel did issue a $30 credit for which we are thankful. The last complaint is how difficult it was for our board members to even get registered, even though we had provided each board member with two phone numbers given to us by hotel staff. The location was difficult because of surrounding construction. Overall, I would have to say the hotel ranks about 2 stars from our group. read more

Hotel is renovated and nicely appointment. The area is out of the way of all the hustle and bustle but very accessible. It smelled so nice when I walked in!! Staff was friendly and accommodating. I was in room 127. Do not stay in this room!! It is right by an exit and people would stand outside and smoke and you could smell it all the time. This is a hotel that can't decide what it wants to be. The decor is weird, veering from "Northwoods" to "ironic hipster". It's really weird. If it were just the decor, it would be a problem. But they're are issues. I think the goal is to be suitable for business travellers, but that's not super obvious. The rooms definitely aren't great for two people, just weird flow and placement of things like doors doesn't always work right. read more

Very nice hotel located close to the Mall of America and other attractions in the MSP area. We ended up here thanks to a killer deal from Priceline. I would not have chosen this hotel, if I had known their pool and hot tub was closed for remodel.. but, the staff did make it up to us by giving us free internet for the two nights we spent here. Hotel is very clean and the rooms had all the modern upgrades and felt very nice. Staff were super friendly and helpful. As a bonus the toiletries (shampoo, soap and lotions) were quality products! Highly recommend this place, but if the pool and hot tub is a deal breaker, I would recommend calling ahead to make sure it is open. read more

The hotel staff was absolutely awful. The room they had prepared did not match the reservation that we made and did thusly not accommodate the number of people we needed to sleep. When an alternate accommodation was made, the key card ceased to work the very next day and when I asked staff to provide a replacement, they notified me that my room reservation did not exist and there was no record of me staying there, despite my things being in the room. They then tried to charge me full, last-minute pricing for the room despite the fact that they were responsible for the runaround. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but our experience was so terrible I needed to. I would not recommend a wedding here. Staff were very kind, but I assume very understaffed. I agree with other reviews- this hotel is not up to Marriot standards. I booked here 6 months in advance for a wedding and they "confirmed" we had a one bedroom suite after they toured it to my family. We needed the space for the wedding party to get ready. Less than 2 weeks before the wedding, I found out they messed up and tried to cover it up by comping a junior suite. Everyone makes mistakes but they didn't apologize or anything. It would have been a disaster the day of the wedding to find out and I had to take the day off work to correct their error. They did comp rooms but not for the entire stay. The rooms were not great and had mismatched paint splotches. The junior suite was not fully stocked and staff were hesitant to provide more towels or lotion. Not what you want for a wedding night. They also messed up other reservations, never apologized, and couldn't even provide a high chair for us to get ready until my friend threatened to bring in a manager. They gave us sparkling wine and chocolate which was very kind, but the whole thing really did kind of ruin our wedding night. They also had no one to help with luggage and my 70+ year old father injured himself trying to do it himself and got his arm stuck in the elevator due to a safety malfunction. We brought them around 15 rooms of business for 2 nights. The pool was also closed. We paid for a shuttle and tipped them well and they left people at the venue. This was after guests asked if it was the last one and they should pack in. They had to Uber back. The breakfast was subpar and expensive. The bathroom doors didn't lock. read more

What are we doing? I started staying at this hotel during the pandemic and never looked back. The staff is like family and the hotel feels like home away from home! I have left amazing reviews in the past and have hosted several team meetings here as well!!! BUT some things have changed. The last several months things have been off and we are considering some changes in the future. Rooms still amazing and clean, front desk staff still great and Andrew is a wonderful new addition. The issues are from the restaurant and bar in the evenings! The staff (Ashley, Noah & Jerry) have been amazing and continue their amazing service and passion for what they do! They MAKE it! The menu has changed and selections are pretty rough. A lot has been removed and it's not as enjoyable and hard to get a group to enjoy. The Tuesday music....what are we even doing here? This is awful! It's loud, odd and awkward. Doesn't jive with a place you want to take peeps at the end of the day to watch some sports, get a beer and chat about the day and it's not fun. Doesn't fit the clientele either. Then, we are letting servers and bartenders go early leaving a single person to manage large groups. This past week, Jerry was rocking it all by himself and your patrons were so patient and felt bad for him. He never once complained or even looked buried, but the wait was long. He was fast and efficient, but too many people for one person. Did I mention the Tuesday music shenanigans? Ouch! I did inquire with the restaurant manager about the menu and he was dry, vague and not as open, inviting or warm as literally every other staff member I've met. Even the maintenance man is amazing! I don't want to stop our groups from coming or out in a negative review with our corporate travel service, but need a better and refresher experience when we want to dine in or celebrate in the evenings. Super cute room and excellent staff. They greeted us very quickly and everyone was extremely friendly. My only complaint is that the pool was closed getting remodeled and they did not disclose that to us before arriving and it was on spring break. I did order a late night snack and some drinks at the bar the bartender and staff were very friendly. I order the wing and I have to say they were delicious. I will probably stay again but would like to make sure the pool is open ahead of time. read more

I'm not going to spend more money when i wasn't told I needed to bring money for a deposit the hotel is not worth over 100 dollars a night. They would not work with us to remedy the issue. Well, they are getting very close to having a good hotel here. Just finishing a 4 night stay. The restaurant is good! The wait staff is friendly and they try very hard to take care of the customer. They seem to be a little short staffed at time, but management works hard to fill the gaps with staff. The bar is the same. The interior is actually done very well for this being an old Holiday Inn Crown Plaza property! The staff at the front desk is similar. Not sure if front desk Management is quite as customer service oriented as staff, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. The cleaning staff, however, is this hotels biggest flaw. The ability of the cleaning staff to follow simple instructions/requests for an extra towel or a regular coffee package instead of decaf fell on blind eyes. They found the tip, just could not fulfill simple minor requests on the note attached. This hotel is close to a 3.5 and could be a 4 with a little more work. The stay was pleasant, but today they need to give you a reason not to stay next door. Hmmmm. read more
