Aaron Wolf - Aaron Wolf with Kite Guitar

I still play. I still write songs. It all comes back to what I learned from Aaron…read more I bought a guitar on eBay and didn't know what to do with it, so I ended up randomly signing up for lessons with Aaron. I took guitar lessons with him in Ann Arbor Michigan from 2004 to 2008. It was great! He definitely let my interests drive the direction of the lessons. Rather than having a strict series of levels/lessons/books to work through, he saw what I was interested in and used his musical expertise to plan lessons around those interests. In addition to strumming my guitar that I love, I am so grateful for the theory/songwriting/singing knowledge I got out of working with Aaron. I've tried to take lessons from other people as I moved around the country, but no one offered the flexibility in terms of what to study that I got from Aaron. I really felt that he was interested in teaching me what I wanted to learn.

I studied with Aaron while he was in Ann Arbor, before he moved to Oregon. The thing that struck…read moreme most about him was his irrepressible enthusiasm for teaching. His love for sharing his knowledge and his music was obvious from the first minute I met him. He is a patient instructor and one of the most knowledgeable musicians I've met. His lessons were heavy on theory and on the science of sound and music - but only because I found it fascinating. With other students, particularly children, he took an age-appropriate approach that was intended to instill a love for the instrument without being overly "school-ish" or boring. Ann Arbor's loss is Portland's gain.

After his passing I continued my study with one of his students. Since moving away to college I've spent almost 5 years studying under a professor of piano at Brigham Young University. In total, I've had 23 incredible years of sitting in my favorite spot--the piano bench. And now I'm excited to start publicly advertising my work as a special events pianist. The piano bench is my favorite spot because it's the place where emotions are communicated, atmosphere is made, and beauty is created. Ever since attending one of my dad's corporate Christmas parties, I dreamed of playing at big events (be it weddings, company parties, or other celebrations) and creating that atmosphere that makes a celebration what it is. The greatest part of it all is that I want to bring that passion to your next event. What would you like? Romantic? Classical?
