We are happy with our two new Anderson Renewal window replacements in the categories of being attractive, quality, ease of opening and closing, and installation. We were surprised and not happy with the Anderson etching advertisement on each pane in the bottom right corner. There is no disclosure of this etching in the contract that we signed and we feel that this should be disclosed to customers in that literature. Honestly I'm disappointed with 2 of the 6 windows that were recently installed. The 2 double hung windows steam up and are collecting moisture on the inside. This is happening now that the weather has turned cold. On new expensive windows this is hard to ignore. When I contacted Anderson's service team,( they have made two trips to my home) they said this "Just happens sometimes". Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem. Interior condensation can lead to mold and damage to the wood trim, so being told it sometimes happens is not helpful. I live in a home that is 100 years old and do not have moisture on the inside of the original windows. At this point I am not satisfied with the product performance or the response from the technicians. I would like a permanent fix or replacement on these windows. read more

Anderson Renewal was in the area last week and a young man was canvassing the area inquiring with people if they needed any new windows. I wish I had gotten the young man's name. He was polite and courteous. He set us up for an appointment with Jake Farrell who was simply outstanding with his presentation. He answered questions we were planning on asking before we had the chance to ask them. He showed us exactly what our window, a large front room window, would look like after product completion. He showed us samples of the construction of the quality of the materials. He showed us every payment plan available and the whole interaction was seemless. He spent an hour and a half with us with absolutely no pressure. Jake conducted himself very professionally and it was easy to see he believed in the product and displayed the great value in replacing said window. We purchased from Jake right on the spot. The cost quoted me was 8200 then discounted to 7800. Why is installation 5000 dollars? As you can see by the reply, this place lacks professionalism too. They wanted to charge 5k for installation and, now that they've been called out, the only way to backtrack is claim that I must have them confused with someone else? The Renewal by Anderson job description is sitting on my table as is the business card with their salesman's name @rbaofcny.com. They claim it is just my imagination. Since their attempt to rip me off didn't work, they're claiming I'm hallucinating as well? Very professional. Check the photos. I uploaded the job description. You can hallucinate too. I see they also have Google remove all negative reviews by claiming people aren't in their "data banks." read more

Inferior design on the latches. A cheap plastic insert is not durable and is not a replaceable part. The whole latch needs to be replaced when the plastic cracks. I wrote to Andersen two months ago about the problem and was totally ignored. I have had to replace 2 of them already at my own cost out of the 10 windows I had installed. read more

The first time they canceled 20 minutes before they were scheduled to show up, causing me to cancel plans for nothing. read more

Do NOT buy Andersen windows and doors or use Home Depot for any installations.!!! The installation is done by Home Depot. We had 2 doors and 2 windows replaced. Normally we would have installed them ourselves but can no longer do that kind of work. We placed our order the end of April 2019 and were told it would take 6-8 weeks because the windows and doors are custom made. The installation was scheduled for 6/14/19 with arrival between 8-10. Two men finally arrived at 12:30! They had not called to inform us of the delay. They were late because it took longer than expected to load the truck! Don't they know how long it takes to load 2 French doors and 2 windows? They ripped out the living room door only to discover they had 2 doors that fit the kitchen and none for the living room. Must be they did not check closely what they were loading. So they put a kitchen door in the living room to close in the space. The installer had ordered the doors correctly. They were made incorrectly by Andersen. They did not do a good job of cleaning up either inside or on the deck. We waited another 8 weeks and scheduled for 8/8/19 between 8-10. They come to our house in northern PA from Syracuse, NY 2 hours away. They had not shown up by noon so I called the Installation Service Manager who contacted the installers. The transmission had gone out on the truck. Was their phone also broken? Is that why they did not call us? Another reschedule for 8/19/19. Received a call 8/18/19 that the primary installer he had injured his foot on the job and needed to be off it. We then rescheduled for 8/23/19. The installer called at 10:25, would be a little late because he had rented a truck and it took longer than expected. Charlie said not to pay them if they presented a bill. The installer called a second time "I'm right on the way." The Installation Service Manager came at 12:10 to check on the progress then left before the installer and his father, who was his assistant, arrived at 12:45. They installed both doors and both windows. I checked in once in a while to see how they were doing. They finished at 6:45 pm and I gave them a check for the balance due. That is where I made the mistake. I was so glad to finally have the job completed after four months that I did not closely inspect the work. The living room, kitchen, bedroom, and den both had furniture and wall hangings removed since before the first installation date of 6/17/19. August 27th we noticed the kitchen door was not closing properly. Called and left messages for both the installer and the Installation Service Manager. Had not received the can of touch up paint needed for the exterior of both doors where they had been scraped during handling. We had the installers note with signature: "Touch up paint being sent to customer." No calls back. Called 9/20/19 and left a message on installer's phone paint had not yet arrived. No call back. Middle of September I stained the doors and windows and saw a strange gap at the top of the windows. It did not go through to the outside but did expose the rough framing for the windows. The raw wood took the stain OK. I called both the installer and Installation Service Manager 9/24/19 and did not call back. I called Home Depot Operation Center 9/24/19 and told Tee our problem. We should hear within 3-5 days to schedule a service call. I put the 1st of 3 coats of polyurethane on windows and doors. The doors had not adjusted been adjusted by installer. The kitchen door adjusted correctly so it was square in the frame and did not scrape the bottom. The living room door would not adjust. The problem was the latch side of the door had not been set tightly against the side of the house! It was 3/16 of an inch out from the house! What made us really mad was he was the "professional" and we were amateurs when we built the house by ourselves back in 1989-1994. 10/1/19 called the Operation Center and talked with Ann. She tried to contact a Project Coordinator. She could not contact anyone by phone. She sent an email to the Installation Service Manager had been more than 3 days. 10/2/19 I again left a message on the Installation Service Manager's phone "If I do not hear from you by tomorrow, I will probably be going to the bank to cancel the check I had given the installer 8/23/19. Called the bank 10/6/1, "You have to do it [cancel a check] before its is actually cashed." Not sure what to do next since I had signed for a satisfactory job completion. I guess we just accept the poor job and not use the living room door. We usually use the kitchen door so it will not be a problem until the house is sold. "We stand behind our products" by Andersen does NOT apply to installation, just the products themselves. Please share this with others who may be considering using Andersen.
