Before my appointment, my UT surgeon promptly emailed my knee MRI/records to ensure a proper evaluation, even calling me to confirm it was done. Awesome! Yet, during my consultation, Dr. Igolnikov and his assistant insisted they were never received. While there, I call UT, they confirm - again - with the day/time records were emailed. I'm directed to the front desk. No luck. I state I'm not leaving until they find the email (their eyes rolling), which two desk gals finally did 30min later (my eyes rolling). No apology. Just defensive excuses. Who hires these people?! Unfortunately, I still had to pay for a wasted visit. Billing department was no better. They required I prepaid for my self-pay appointment ($378). I did. Yet, a week later I received an emailed bill for $411 due. A few weeks later the same bill arrived by mail. I called billing and was told, they had overlooked my payment. The repeated administrative failures involving both medical records and billing - is unacceptable! Since they struggle with fundamentals, obviously I have no confidence in the organization and am not into "hoping" things will change at the risk of my time, money, and most importantly - my knees. I will not return.

As a highly active forty-four year-old rock climber and triathlete, I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my left hip. I continued to do sports at a high level; however, my pain became increasingly difficult to manage, and I eventually reached out to Dr. Rector to discuss treatment options. He recommended Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) as the best procedure for my specific condition. It was extremely important to me that my surgeon understood my post goal surgical objective was to continue with a high level of activity as quickly as practical. I communicated my objectives to Dr. Rector, and we set goals to support my intentions. In October 2009, Dr. Rector performed Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery on my left hip with outstanding results. I immediately experienced relief from pain, and subsequently regained full range of motion. I returned to rock climbing and competing in triathlons within a year after my surgery. Six years after my BHR, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right hip, and in September 2015 Dr. Rector performed total hip replacement surgery on my right side. Once again my pain was almost immediately relieved, and my range of motion was virtually perfect. I was climbing in the gym eight weeks after surgery, biking at ten weeks, and running pain free eight months post operatively. At one year, my physical condition has returned 100 percent, and I have no restrictions on any of my former and present activities. I was diagnosed with an AC joint injury, xray and physical exam confirmed it. Doc gave me two options, a anti-inflammatory cream or a cortisone shot, I HATE needles so opted for the cream. He wrote up the prescription but also gave me the look and said something that made gave me the feeling that he knew I'd be back in a week or two. He was right, cream was barely working and dried the skin so much I got a rash. Went back for the cortisone shot, he and the staff were GREAT, area prep was solid, little bit of cold numbing agent applied and Mccarty was able to give me the injection without the need for xray guidance and virtually painless. Smooth operator for sure. Only been a week with the cortisone so I have yet to try any push (bench, military press, etc) related weight lifting, but will update once the cortisone is in full effect .

From the moment he walked in the exam room I knew that he was knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and that his diagnostic abilities were impeccable. I knew my foot was broken from the fall that occurred at work and the whole process had been mishandled. The day I walked into Concentra was after I had left the Ortho. What a nightmare! The Ortho walked in the room and remember he had only seen me once. He was cheerful and began to talk about sending me to have Physical Therapy. This was without taking an x-ray or MRI. He had the nurse take the airboot off and put a little black lace up ankle support to replace the boot. I left there and went to Concentra. The bottom line is Dr. Nystrom is a God-send. This doctor knew from his evaluation and examination of my foot what the problem was. He sent me for stat MRI and confirmed that the foot was broken in 2 places and one tendon hanging on by a thread. Dr. Nystrom never rushes, he comes in and sits down and explains what he has found and answers any and all questions. He is a rare find in medicine today. I highly recommend you to seek any medical attention at Concentra and I can tell you that you will be greeted at the front desk with a huge and comforting smile. From check in to check out you are made to feel special and you will receive superior care.
