They never show up when they're supposed to... and good luck talking to anybody. I don't recommend them. They skip our trash half the time.

The worst service I have absolutely ever received! The rudest customer service reps I have ever dealt with! I am being charged for a 2nd can they've never dropped off and are telling me I'm stuck paying the service for it either way!!! Will be switching companies as soon as possible!! Horrible service! Even worse customer support! They skip us over at least once every billing cycle. The entire neighborhoods trash has been sitting out there for three days. Support just lies and says"a truck is on the way". We get excuses like "the heat is causing delay" or "the 1/2" of snow is causing delay" or "the cold is causing delay" or "the rain is causing delay". Republic Services is a lame company interested in taking our money and cheating us out of the service we pay for. After posting my experiences I had at the beginning of the month on lack of trash pickup I am sorry to say that it continues. No pick up this week, called the company and many apologies ,once again, with the promise to have them pick my trash up either later that day or today. Just went out to the curb to get my bin and it's as full as ever. They never came by. I had also called about an adjustment to my billl for the lack of pickups. They said 4.91 would be taken off. Just got a bill for 75.37 without even the minuscule adjustment they promised. Worst service ever ! I am cancelling my contract since it's impossible for me to make these multiple calls throughout my work day and not have a trash pick up service. Missed my entire neighborhood on Wednesday and when I called on Friday to let them know lady said they can not come out until Monday now. When I asked if they were going to pick up the extra trash since they would be 5 days late, she said no only what was in the bin. She told me I should have called on Thursday and they would have came out that day. I signed up for autopay for my weekly yard waste service from this company. Even though I had confirmation that autopay was in effect, it failed. As soon as I realized it, I paid the bill in full. Now I'm being charged a late fee!!! I find this outrageous, considering the NUMEROUS times, in the past, that Republic has failed to pick up my yard waste. During one season, they missed picking up my, already paid in full, yard waste every other week, 50% of the time!!! After calling them, sometimes they would pick it up later, but many times, I had to take it all back in & wait until the next week (still being told I could only put out 8 bags; even though they missed the 8 from the week before). I WAS NEVER REFUNDED FOR ALL OF THE TIMES THEY MISSED PROVIDING ME SERVICE & ALL OF THE INCONVENIENCE THEY CAUSED ME, but once again, due to their mistake, I am being penalized. read more

I worked around it to make it happen only to be told the day of that now they can't come pick up my items but will be there the day I originally asked for. Awful customer service. Scheduled bulk pick up after waiting on hold two days in a row for over an hour and a half. After hauling it all to the front of the property and bundling it like they requested - they no showed. Turns out they rescheduled without calling for a week later. There has been no yard waste pickup in our subdivision for more than three weeks. My neighbors and I have made multiple calls to customer service, in some cases (including my own) escalating the complaint through several layers of management trying to obtain satisfaction. My neighbors and I have received promises that someone was owning the problem and would be following up by telephone soon but no follow-up calls have been received and the yard waste is piling up around the neighborhood. He's parked right at the top of this hill on my road where there is NO vision to oncoming cars and I have to drive on the left side of the road to pass him. I ordered new Sedovic's over a week and a half ago. I still have not received my trash can. They claimed they had to change the date of that. Well I'm not putting my bags out for animals to destroy because they won't clean up the mess, I'll have to. I've been having to take the trash to my old house where the trash men still pick up. The single worst trash service I have ever experienced in seven decades. Our recycle has been in the driveway since Wednesday for pickup Thursday am. It is now Saturday and still there after a phine call to the office said they would be out asap. This not the least bit unusual. Republic Services should be the subject of a class action lawsuit. They constantly raise the price and make it impossible to cancel. I received a quote from another company for $40 per month for the exact same service, whereas Republic Services had raised their rate to $160. Tried several times and was told I had to talk to the sales person for my area. Conveniently, I was only able to talk to the salesperson after the time to cancel before contract renewal had lapsed. They would not let me cancel without paying a large fee due to automatic contract renewal. I didn't pay for a couple months hoping they would come get their dumpster. Charged a $35 fee which they agreed to refund if I paid the balance that day, which I did. Asked again about cancelling and was told someone would call me within 48hrs. The $35 was never refunded and no one called me back about cancellation. The internet is full of reviews with similar problems. This company is one of the worst that I have ever had to deal with. Zero concern for the customer. All about squeezing every dime out of you that they can. read more

The trash is more likely to be thrown across your yard than it is to end up in the garbage truck. Missed pickup days are frequent and seem to be getting worse. They are lousy about responding to support requests. The advertise recycling but after jumping through the hoops on their website I was only met with, "Sorry, we don't actually offer recycling." I have updated my contact information through the website many time but it always seems to revert. On top of this, your pickup plan is constantly rewritten without your notification. In my case this went from pricing in terms of number of containers to an ever fluctuating number of bags. read more

Business next door uses this company, they keep putting their dumpster on my property. Called to politely ask they remove it the next time they came to pick it up and was told that would happen. Another 2 feet onto my property today. Called and latrice(sp?) basically refused any help at all saying it isn't their responsibility. The pricing is stupid. $22.50 for 5 Stickers. 1 sticker per 33 gallon trash can not the normal 90 gallon cart that Waste Management picks up for $20 a month! With Waste Management 90 gal recycling and yard waste carts are included. Stickers?! Are we in primary school? Why can't we have the option between the 90 gal carts for a FLAT monthly fee and the 33 gal with stickers? Not a monthly fee to rent the 90 gal carts plus 2 stickers. Besides, when I called to rent the 90 gal carts, they said that service is unavailable for me. Why is it on the city website and your own website that it's available? Luckily, I was able to hire a small business to take over my trash hauling. read more

This company does not even deserve one star. One of their trucks was driving in front of me when multiple objects came out the back onto my car including a big rock which causes a huge crack in my windsheild. I used them for 2 years they were great at first then my last 6 months with them was hell. they hardly ever picked my trash up when they would they wouldn't take it all and they would scatter it all over my yard. I called to see if they could start picking up my trash and that made them not pick it up for two weeks. I cancelled services and they basically refused for a month to pick up my cans. they told me they were going to charge me for them and they were still not taking my trash at this point. I never missed a payment and I had a newborn at the time. you can see how bad this trash issue was becoming. I called again they FINALLY picked up the cans said they would refund me. it's been over a month no check in the mail I checked the account and they credited me even tho I'll never use them again. I recommend using waste management and saving yourself the headache you can't even talk to anyone for at least a half hour anytime you call. read more

Quit due to continual increases in cost. Jan 2019 a whopping 11% increase. 3 months later, another increase of 5%. After quitting, charged $30 to pick up the garbage can. I should have quit when a couple years ago on pickup day they took the can with the garbage and then took 2 weeks to replace the can. Avoid like the plague!! read more

While the prompt message here on Yelp might make it seem that Republic is responsive and cares about customer service....this is not the case. I provided my contact information and have not heard a word. Due to the holiday the service day was delay, however they did pick up on regular day....with the above issues. I had to remove my trash from my trash cans and place it in "their" can....fun job! They then picked up the following (delayed) day. I am paying just as much as before but with limited service as compared to the prior (before automation) service which took everything that was placed in trash cans or bags as well as boxes. This is a loss of service in my eyes and my review remains the same. read more

Republic are liars and unreliable. They told us that they were our only choice for trash service and that we had to recycle. Then they didn't pick up our recycling on the designated days and weren't reliable to pick up the trash at all. We contacted other trash services that served the nearest town (we live just outside of town) and they do service us and recycling is NOT mandatory for our county. We cancelled service with republic and told them to get their bins. Which weeks later are still sitting in out drive. Surprise! Don't believe what they say. Call around and ask. read more

This is a horrible company. The driver leaves my trash can in the middle of my driveway and I have complained about it many times and it doesn't stop. I have to get out of my car and move it before I can pull into the driveway. He also rummages through my trash! He takes my very large trash can and slams it down on the ground and now it has a giant crack in it. Customer support does not care at all. Their billing department is also horrible. If I could give a 0 star, I would. Unfortunately, we live in a community (Shiloh, IL) where we are stuck with Republic. We are currently doing some home improvement/construction work at our house and I had temporarily used a recycle bin for storage of the majority of my under sink household cleaning products. Clearly all full bottles not meant for recycle. Unfortunately, it got put out on the curb and was taken by the driver. I realize this seems like my fault, but the driver took the entire tub and clearly realized that they were good products neatly arranged and stacked into the tub not meant for recycle. We were told by management that there is nothing they can do about the $100-$200 worth of products that were in the tub. I sure hope my driver's house is nice and clean. In the meantime, I will be doing everything in my power and the power of my friends and neighbors in the Shiloh community to get our services moved to a company that is a little more trustworthy.
