Yuk! I found out that not all of the potentially recyclable materials my family and my neighborhood put in the bins are recycled. In fact, most go to waste, even papers and plastics. Why call yourself a recycling business with pleas on the social consciousness of people, when au' contraire, you are not! The bad part about this is not telling your customers about it. Republic's residential trash pickup service has deteriorated markedly over the past few years, and we had used Republic/AAA for many years. Many missed pickups despite multiple calls to customer service and being repeatedly told that service would be provided. Last quarter I was told that Republic would be reducing my quarterly bill, but the invoice just arrived without any reduction. The company is very hard to communicate with and is not living up to its promises. Look elsewhere. American Disposal just gave me a significantly lower quarterly quote. Negative stars! read more

Update to a previous review. History: I had cancelled when the county took over our services. Cancelled before the next quarters billing cycle. Was assured I owed only $25 for bin pick-up and otherwise, I was all paid up. Two weeks later they bill me for and ILLEGALLY take the money from my account for the next quarters services (I cancelled before this cycle). Took two weeks but finally got my money back. Now, they are continuing to try to bill me the $130 for the quarter that I no longer have bins...to the point they have sent past due notices. I have called three times, spent a total of 95 minutes on hold, always to be told that they are submitting an email to billing to have the $130 taken off....only to find out later that it is still there. This is the worst business I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with...ever. While I had them it was regular missed pickups, excuses on why, work-tickets to make a pickup that would never come...etc...etc... A good piece of advise that I should have listened to when I moved here...go with another provider. Look at all the reviews. This isn't a fluke...these guys do not give a crap about the customer. Do not EVER use this company. I finally cancelled service after 3 weeks of my trash not being picked up. I was calling every day to follow up and told I would get a call back and that my call would be escalated for that entire time. Nobody ever called back, and my trash just sat there. This was the third time in as many years I'd had this issue with them. I finally cancelled my service because I figured at that point, they'd have to at least pick up the damn cans. NOPE. I was told the cans would be picked up on Monday. They weren't picked up. I was told they'd be picked up on Wednesday. Still not picked up. I called today and was told they'd rescheduled it for the 9th. So I've had the same damn cans full of trash in front of my house for over a month now. The CSR I spoke to had an attitude, refused to let me speak to a supervisor, and snottily informed me that I owed $73 for the cans getting picked up. Are you kidding me? $73 because your company is too damned incompetent to do the job I was paying you for so I had to cancel service? Avoid, avoid, avoid and if my cans aren't gone by the 9th, I'm looking into legal action to get them removed from my damn property. read more

At first, I thought that maybe I was putting out the wrong cart during the quarantine....but they wouldn't pick up whatever I put out. So I started listing 'missed pickup'...what, 4, 5 times now? Nothing. Local customer service, FWIW, is very nice. But the recycling still doesn't get picked up. And right now, I'm calling corporate, and after the initial answering message...Nothing. No ringtone, no voice saying "please hold"...just silence. This is the worst trash service I've every had. So many missed pickups. The local dispatch office representatives were knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. The dispatcher and supervisor patiently listened to my issues and explained remedies clearly. The supervisor, Sampson, in particular seemed genuinely concerned about fixing my issues. Sampson resolved the matter efficiently and was true to his word. After years of missed trash pickups, endless customer service calls, and a recent company decision to reduce trash pick up from two days to one day a week, I am moving on. The customer service reps try their best, but Republic Services management refuses to address my concerns and contact me. The reps state that our concerns will be "escalated" to management, but no one ever calls us back (crickets). I have had enough. We used Republic/AAA service for years. Ouch up was regular with few missed days. The issue came when we switched to a different carrier. Republic scheduled pick up of their dumpsters. Three separate scheduled pickup dates came and went without removal. We were billed for the cost of the containers - $129. Even after containers were finally picked up, we continued receiving "past due" notices. I called and spoke with agents on eight separate occasions, always to be told the bills were in error and to "just ignore them". The balance went to collections, and Republic agents told me they could no change the account, I had to work with collection agency. Collections, of course, could do nothing, they'd simply bought the debt. Eventually, after eight months, a total of 12 calls, and speaking to two separate supervisors, the account was cleared, but not before I mentioned contacting an attorney. Hello all. I have used Republic service for over 8 years or more. I am VERY happy with the service. They call and leave a message when they will not be picking up. They answer the phone when I call ue to cracked trash can. they replace it when they say they will. Overall, the only time they don't pick up is in bad weather nut can't blame them for that. I am not happy that the price keeps going up, so I was shopping around and based on the reviews of others, I will stick to Republic Services. The service is Perfect. It also helps if you tip your trash people at least at the end of the year. They work hard and always have a great attitude. 5 Star service in my book. Just please stop raising the rates. I had been a customer of Republic for over 5 years when they suddenly raised my bill by over 30%. This seems to have happened after I complained that our yard waste was consistently missed. When I called, they said the increase was across the board and they could only reduce it by only $2. I know this was a lie because I have 2 neighbors whose bills did not get raised. When I canceled the service, they scheduled to pick up the 3 containers and 5 weeks later sent me a bill for $155 to pick them up. I called several times and they promised to reduce, and it never happened. I finally paid to save my account from going to collections but am currently filing a claim with the Attorney general. I don't have any good things to say. We've been with Republic since they acquired the Tenleytown business this past year. For 2+ months between May and August, we had a constant trash pileup and would go as long as 1-2 weeks with an overflowing dumpster, we even got a sanitation fine because of it. Requests for a trash pickup were met with promises but no trash pickups. Eventually we were able to get a Republic rep to identify the errors in their system that were leading to these issues, but it's because of our own initiative and persistence, not because of any competence that they demonstrated. They sound shortstaffed and overworked. Since then, we've still had missed trashed pickups here and there leading to several days with overflow. Most of the time when this happens, we still have to reach out to Republic to get our trash picked up. Republic has demonstrated no initiative to resolve these ongoing issues. I could maybe rate them 3 stars now, but there is one looming question for us: where is our refund? We pay for a service, there service doesn't get rendered, and we don't get our money back? We don't get compensated for fines? Like I said, Republic hasn't taken any initiative. Let's not forget, this is a publicly traded company with a shareholder dividend. I so miss the old company before Republic Services took over. Put out an extra garbage can after having company for the weekend. Got charged for 2 "bags". Called customer service who told me they now charge "per bag" rather than per can on extra garbage. The rep could not explain why they are charging "per bag" when I put out a simple regular size garbage can. Was charged $12.50. I should have reviewed this place prior to starting services. I started my service in June of this year. Nice customer service, which is unfortunate. I can't say the same for their pick ups. First week of service... no pick up. I called and they assured me they will pick up the following day.... no pick ups. Following pick up schedule.... no pick up for the recycling portion. Trash yes, but not my recycling. Items are piling and piling and we are expected to pay full price for half ass work? I called today(Friday). Our trash and recycling were suppose to be picked up on Tuesday.... a robocall was made that service is delayed and leave them out for the next day.... no friggin pick ups. I schedule online... no pick ups. I called again and they said, "we are short staffed". I'm sorry. That is no excuse. We pay for your services to be rendered. I expect FULL service or refund me for the services you have lacked. I have put in 2 official complaints and SHIT has been done about it. I rather take my chances with American. read more

This has to be the worst trash and recycling company in the USA. My wife and I have tried for four days to get someone from this company to do a bulk pickup. We have had to team up and take turns calling them because we both work. Each time we have waited over 30 minutes on hold and given up. The only number available is their call center. You CANNOT speak to any other division in this company. They are also headquartered in Arizona. They don"t have an actual number where you can speak to an actual person to complain or escalate your issue in order to get it resolved. Worst Decision Ever! Went with Republic Services because I was getting a lot of missed pickups from my previous vendor (American). This turned out to be a terrible move for me. I met with Henry the sales guy on 6/25. He agreed to deliver cans and start service on 7/1. That date came and went, and no cans were delivered. Cans eventually arrived nearly 2 weeks late. In fairness, they were brand new and clean -- very nice. Despite the late start, I decided to give them a second chance.... and I've regretted it ever since. They missed the regularly scheduled pickup on Monday 7/15. I called their office on 7/16 and spoke with Gloria, who apologized and said they would pickup tomorrow. That didn't happen. Called on 7/18 and spoke with Aces. She apologized and said they would pick up tomorrow or the following day. Again, no pickup. Called again on 7/22, which at this point was our regular pickup date again. Spoke to Taylor, who indicated that its our regular pickup date and that we'd have no problem. Wrong again! I called again on 7/23 and talked to Tia, who apologized and said they would pick up again the following day. When I questioned if this was true, I was offered an opportunity to talk to the manager, which I gladly accepted. I spoke to Val, who indicated that she would talk to someone else and get back to me. Val did call me back at 4PM, but only to tell me that she was told, 'they will resolve it very soon.' She and I both didn't know what that meant. At this point, I've gone 4 weeks with no trash service. I pre-paid in advance, and fear that my only recourse will be to notify them that they are in breach of contract and to file a civil action to get my money back. Atrocious customer service, possibly even criminal incompetance. Very long hold times to reach people working from home who don't know what they are doing, and who cannot close an account without screwing it up, and you can't reach anyone who can/will fix it. Sold my Dad's house where he had Republic. Closing was end of April'21. 4/21/2021 Called CSR, after a long time on hold, who agreed to stop service on 4/27 (our last date of schedule service), and said they would pick up receptacles on Friday the 23rd. 4/22/2021 Called again to CSR, after a long time on hold, to confirm receptacles pickup for 4/23, and report that receptacles were on the driveway just in front of the closed garage doors. CSR says they don't pick up receptacles on Friday here, only on Tuesdays, the day of service, didn't know why other CSR would so insist otherwise. Also said trash can must be on the street because they can't "trespass" to take them from the driveway in front of the garage doors. Had my neighbor move them to the street since we are out of town. CSR confirmed that account is closed and service terminates on Tu4/27. (4/13 Bill Date) Ignored this bill, per CSR instructions, for services 5/1-7/31 since our service terminates prior to billed services date. 5/13/2021 Have been getting emails and phone robo-voicemails about an overdue bill. Called CSR who, after a long time on hold, told me she couldn't help me and had to turn me over to someone else who had authority to correct the errors she could see. Waited another long time on hold, and spoke to Shante who confirmed receptacles were picked up, saw the error and didn't know why it wasn't processed properly before, but assured me that she was crediting my account, that I now had a zero balance and that there is no need to pay the bill due 5/3. 5/18/2021 more harassing emails and voice mails which I ignored until receiving and replying to arcenterhck@republicservices.com on another harassing email, asking that they do their job and correct my account to the zero balance I was told on 5/13. 5/20/2021 received another bill dated 5/13, due June2nd, showing credits for the services erroneously billed, then adding 2x$25 charges for receptacle pickup plus $2.11 Late fee, and somehow a bottom line "CURRENT INVOICE CHARGES" of $71.87, which is obviously more than the $52.11 in new charges. However, on the payment slip, the amount due shows $69.07, so which is supposed to be what I actually owe? Ignored it, relying on the CSR representations with Shante on 5/13 that my balance is zero. 6/15/2021 Got another email invoice showing that they somehow "suspended" my account that I had closed on 4/27 and charged me another $32.20 or so for the privilege of having my already-closed and paid-in-full account somehow "suspended". I paid them, but want to let you know of this so you can avoid this systemically inept company, and instead use the other systemically inept company that serves your area. Seriously, anyone who opened up a quality company to serve trash customers would make a killing. read more

I had to use this company due to our HOA. We sold our house and I canceled the account in July. They overpaid themselves via auto pay for the final bill and I am owed 48.80. I have contacted them many times on the phone and on their online customer support portal. I have been told each time. Oh you are right, we will place your refund check in the mail and then they verify my current address. It's always the same and ends with we will mail out your refund.It's now November. Rarely picked up on make-up days. Just horrendous all around. I routinely spent 3-4 days out of the week on the phone only to get nowhere. My trash would collect in the garbage bc I gave up bringing the van up and down the driveway every day. After having to track down the CEO on LinkedIn because customer service wouldn't respond, they finally picked up my trash after 1.5 months of leaving it there, getting full of maggots.... Now it's what, 16 months later or more... and they still are the worst company I've ever dealt with. *UPDATE* contacted them as requested. They have tried to blame the bank, saying the bank sent a check. Called my bank and they said absolutely not. That I do not have Republic set up for auto pay. Said they can see that the payment was initiated through "RSI" as a withdraw from my checking account. Verified again that my auto pay was turned off on republics website on June 23. My account was closed on June 28. They verified that my next billing cycle wasn't until July 3 so I was all paid up with a $0.00 balance. THIS MEANS THEY KEEP YOUR BANKING INFO AFTER YOU TURN OFF AUTO PAY AND CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT. Republic says I have to wait until the 14th for the to credit MY CLOSED ACCOUNT and then I have to "request" a refund...for money they took without my consent (withdrawn the moment I turned off auto pay) or authorization. read more

I have cut & neatly bundled bamboo so that it is less than 4 feet in length. I was able to carry up a hill about 100 yards. The only thing missing is a Tiffany Box. Yet Republic Services is not capable to tossing these bundles which weigh less than 20 pounds each into their truck. I have called multiple times over 4 weeks. Each time promised a truck.
