My community (Seven Corners) switched to Trash A Way over the last contract and the level of service is remarkable. They have cleaned holding areas and help keep the overall appearance on a much improved level. The recycling is handled separately, and the staff is on sight when ever a special need arises. They are working with us for a Bulk removal plan that a unit owner can pay a fee and make direct arrangements to have "bulk items" taken away. Put my trash outside on Wednesday evening to be picked up on Thursday. Only the recycled items were picked up. Trash away has no excuse for not picking up the trash. Contacting them is a waste of time. They don't respond and don't care. Looks like the trash will remain outside until next pick up day which is Monday. I am not a strong young woman . I hurt my back. More than once I have put my trash out the night before and this "trash" co has failed to pick it up. Then when I notify them they make excuses. Even saying they have a picture . The pic they have is from Monday when I didn't put any trash out. I put trash out Wednesday eveing April 30, 2025 to be picked up Thursday May 1, 2025. This company is contracted to do trash and recycling pick up for my DC neighborhood. Every week, they come in one truck to get the trash. Then they wait down the street for 5 minutes and return to the neigborhood to get the recycling. In other words, they are pretending to be two different trucks (same scratches on the truck and same crew). They are scamming us and erasing the herculean efforts we are making to preserve the earth. Excellent small local company that is extremely responsive to HOAs and even the residents calling them for assistance. In the whole 2.5 years since COVID began, they have missed only 3 pickups- 2 of which were in the middle of what we call a "snow event" in the northern VA area. I love them! read more

I'm a client of Trashaway for some years, the service was pretty good, but lately they become lazy and negligent performing their important job, Trashaway left a smelly trash bag uncollected near children's playground (AGAIN!!), the excuse was that they don't have sufficient crew to do a better job or even collected next day after I called them. So my advice for them is be more careful collecting trash and collect all the trash the day its supposed to. My advice to customers is FIND A BETTER TRASH COLLECTOR read more

Over the years they have missed my house on a number of occasions because of the "triangle" my house is in. They forget there are three sides to a triangle. Now that we've made it through Thanksgiving, I cannot be thankful for this company since they've left an entire community without recycling after we were told when recycling would be picked up. They did nothing and now there's trash spread throughout because of higher than average winds. They should have done the same as previous years and split the pickup, but they didn't and now left the entire community with no support. I sincerely wish my community would use our HOA fees to pay a company that would do what they've agreed to, because Trash Away is not getting it done. read more

I have lived in my home for 30 years. A few years ago my HOA switched to yeah away. They do not provide reliable service. I usually let a missed pick up go but recently called out of frustration. Was told it would be taken care of. Today was pick up and again missed ! So frustrated- Wil be contacting Hastings Hunt HOA to see if we could entertain other RFPs when it comes time for contract renewal. read more

Trash Away is terrible company. I believe the other two reviews here are fake praise because Trash Away often misses trash pickups. They broke Fairfax County health code by leaving the lids open on the containers and most people couldn't close the lids because they pinned trash containers against fence walls and the containers are too heavy to move. Animals and roaches and other bugs got into the garbage. The rotting garbage was stinky and it was a health hazard. The trash containers were flooded during rain and snow storms. Trash Away also breaks recycling laws. They throw recyclables into the garbage truck along with the regular trash instead of recycling. Fairfax County almost fined my family and other homeowners for the violations. Their last day in our community was supposed to October 31, 2017. So what did they do? They took the trash containers on October 29 and left us with no garbage containers. Good riddance to Trash Away! read more

Our community has used Trash Away as our Trash and Recycling service provider for over two years and they do an excellent job. We have 1808 properties in our community and they service on time, in a professional manner, and are quick to respond to issues.
