Only business of which I am aware that can fail to provide the contracted service during a strike and then still charge you for it, minus a (roughly) 20% labor credit. It's so bad that they had to take away from the supervisors the option of providing a customer service credit for the strikes. It's a monopoly and you pay them whether they pick-up your garbage or not. And funny enough, if you opt to only pay them 20% it turns out they don't like that and will stop picking up your garbage. The absolute worst experience I've had with a supposedly professional company. It's taking them over a month to pick up ONE bin off the road. They ended up picking up my neighbors bins that have absolutely nothing to do with this and now wont bring their bins back. A company that made a gross profit of $1,695,000 LAST QUARTER !!! (Source Yahoo! Finance) had the audacity to refuse a request of refunding our HOAs monthly bill of $327 because "it would cost them the yearly profit" from our account After taking over two months to replace a bin with a broken lid ... during this time they; took bins that were not broken and replaced them with bins that we could not use (size), delivered too many bins, overcharged us $206 for bins that they did not deliver, wasted over 20hrs of my time trying to fix their mistakes. And to top it all they have a monopoly in our area .... Wonder how that happens? UPDATE : today one of out bins was changed out for an 80gallon can - I never asked for an 80 gallon can ... good need is that I have a phone number of a local employee and he is very helpful , they will be replacing the incorrect can today. Two years after incident and still crickets from this place. They keep increasing their fees and can't account for damaged property. Email sent to customer service as requested and have never heard back naturally. Decided to update this review since they decided to hit the mailbox again last week. Our cans are on the opposite side of the property but they just have to cut the corner tight each week and give the mailbox a little kiss. It's battered enough now that it didn't show much more damage and I've reinforced the post, but no sense in replacing with a new mailbox if they plan to hit it every so often. Called and got a customer service agent that was rude and asked me why I even called. Kent republic service is one of the worst companies for waste management. They have problems with not emptying bins fully. Trash is left on ground. Customer service is terrible. They want more money for what they can barely do their jobs. Have the city set up drop off locations or hire private companies to pick up trash. These guys should not get a penny more. I would rate this company with zero stars. I am working with the city of Kent to get us out of their contract since they contract our area. that's how crappy of an experience I've had with them. They do not care about their customers. They do not follow through. I've had to call for a week straight to get a garbage can set up and then they brought two and I've been dealing with over a week contacting to get the second one picked up that I did not order. Use anyone else! But trash pickup is a monopoly so you might be forced to use Republic. I have to call Republic every month due to missed pickups. I have spoken with countless managers all swearing it won't happen again and then as a punishment they will miss our street the week after talking with them. Never a discount on our bill and they certainly never come back out for a missed pickup. They rather we leave double the garbage out to be picked through by rodents and birds and come on the next scheduled date. But you better believe they'll charge you fees when your payment is 5min late or the tie of your bag is sticking out of the can. Awful company with lazy employees. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this has to be the worst way to conduct business. I'm renovating my deck and due to the large demo, I called in on 3/18/24 to get a dumpster rental. I provided my info, payment for the delivery/haul up front, and signed the electronic customer agreement form. I then was told that once signed, the local office would automatically be notified of this request and open the account, schedule the delivery on Friday 3/22. Before the delivery, a site survey needed to be done to make sure the dumpster will fit, no power lines, etc so was waiting all week to be contacted. No contact. On 3/21, I called to check on the status. Turns out, the local office was never notified so that delayed my processing time another 4 days. They assured they'll move as quickly as possible and get this delivered on Monday or Tuesday next week(3/25 or 3/26) At this point, I'm stuck and need this dumpster so I decide to move forward with patiently waiting. No delivery on Monday. No update. Called Tuesday afternoon to check and was told by the representative that site survey was done(which is weird because no one stopped by house, no call was made) so expected delivery tomorrow(3/27). Great. Waited all day Wednesday(3/27) for the delivery, moved my cars out of the driveway, and waited. Nothing. Called around 3pm and was told my the representative that notes say delivery is set but no update from the local office? Was on the phone for an hour just on hold, waiting for an answer. Representative told me she'd give me a call back before she gets off at 5pm so I don't need to wait. No call back. Which brings us to today. Got a call this morning from Tanita saying they received word from the local office saying that size dumpster I ordered won't fit. What? Site survey was done 2 days ago and you're saying this now? They told me it was done yesterday(3/27). I was fed up at this point and requested to cancel. I can't believe this is how your business is being conducted. I'd give a 0 if I could. This is a complaint about a unannounced policy change. When I first moved to my house, the recycle policy was any extra cardboard, just flatten it out and put next to the recycle bin, we will pick ALL of it up. Apparently now you have to bundle it up and only have one 3'x3' box before being charged extra. and when I confronted the recycle worker we could have put the extra cardboard in his vehicle instead of him mimming and hawwing at how much extra time it would take to put it in his vehicle. poor customer service and customer skill on the drivers part. and a lack of empathy on the customer service who I called to complain. read more

Fast forward to a week later now, I started at Ground Zero again, called the phone number set up delivery, paid for the service and waited for delivery on Friday. Although we set everything up on the phone and I paid for the service in full, they emailed the contract for me to sign; it was sent to my work email address, therefore went into the spam folder where my employer hold onto it so I didn't see the contract until Friday morning. I signed it immediately then called to make sure the delivery would still happen on Friday. I was told that they would try and I would receive a phone call to let me know if that was possible. I verified with the woman I was speaking to that if it couldn't be delivered Friday, it would be delivered Monday. I just called to find out approximate delivery time.... Lo and behold I am not scheduled for delivery in their system, but they do see all the notes from the previous phone calls and they see that I paid in full. So far this has delayed me from moving out of state by 3 days; I had people I was paying to help me lined up for Friday. I had to pay them for reserving their time and will need to find someone last minute to help once it is delivered. It is now Monday, October 23. I am supposed to report to my new job 1200 miles away next Monday. I've had the moving truck for 2 days and due to logistics, I can't load it until the dumpster is placed and somewhat filled. My house is small and I can't maneuver around things going to dumpster - in order to load the truck. At this point, I'm going to be charged for additional days with the moving truck. I'm going to have to tell my new job that I can't be there in time, and have to use vacation time for the additional days it's taking me to get there. I have reservations for tomorrow to pick up a trailer to pull my car. I can't put the trailer on until the truck is packed. A process I initiated over a month ago. There is absolutely zero excuse to put somebody through this. If I could give you a Negative star review, it would be a -10. I am more than livid. read more

We have called 5 times now about our missing trash bin situation. Every time we got the same response from them 'It will arrive next Tuesday!' I even posted Google Review and they ask me to sent them email and created trouble ticket. Two weeks later still no trash bin. We did not have our trash collected for exactly one and half months now. We have to drive 22 miles and 36 minutes (one way) to drop our trash twice since we moved into our new home. We are in a desperate situation now and don't know what to do?!!! They charge for extra trash when we don't have any the the darn lid is COMPLETELY closed. We have a ring camera so we know what the can looks like. I guess I now need to take pictures every trash day so they stop charging for extra bags!?? I'm sorry but your billing is ridiculous! Also, we scheduled a bulk item pick up. This company is crap. We as a city haven't had our garbage picked up in three weeks. Two of the weeks were from road conditions and the last week was a strike out of state. They aren't giving us credits on our bill for them not picking up our trash. We are made to hold onto it because the public park drop off locations are over full and ridiculous times (9-3) that no working person can make it to. The local dump is closed too because they're overfull and not being switched out. We are made to keep this garbage at home and haul it back and forth to the road each week not knowing if they'll pick it up. We get no clear notice until the day of pickup whether they'll pick up or not. I am not impressed with this company at all. read more

I gave these guys a key to the padlock on the gate to my dumpster when they first began servicing Kent about 8 years ago. There were no issues four about 4-5 years. One day, their driver decided to leave the gate unlocked and left the padlock hanging on the chain fence, so I locked the padlock in place so it wouldn't get stolen. Four weeks ago I noticed extra trash was left outside our dumpster, so I decided to relock my gate with the same padlock. Apparently the driver must have lost our key, but never bothered to communicate it to us. Now our garbage has not been picked up in over four weeks, but we've been paying for service the whole time. I contacted them Friday for an explanation. That's when they also said an extra pick up would cost extra. Why? Two days later raccoons have raided the trash leaving dirty diapers and all everywhere! Republic sucks! They're unprofessional, cannot communicate and they provide the worst service. On top of that they now charge an extra $50/mo. to take our recycling. I absolutely hate them! I wish we still had Waste Management. In 12 years of servicing us, we've never had any issues with WM. They were very professional. I can tell they cared about their customers and took much pride in their work unlike Republic Services who keeps raising prices while lowering their standards. What a rip-off. Our garbage pickup is Friday. The last 2 weeks they have come on Saturday. The week before they picked up garbage on Friday, but recycle came on Saturday? Why are they NOT picking up on our scheduled pick-up day? On Friday 8/5, they came and missed my garbage! I tried calling on Monday at my lunch hour from work, I was on hold so long I couldn't wait. I called Tuesday when I got off work, was on hold for 40 minutes. They couldn't find my service address in which they have picked up from, for 20 years! They finally found me via my name, and offered to pick up my garbage tomorrow which was today!! It was not picked up today hahaha! What a joke and now they are closed!!! I will call tomorrow and tell them I will have double the garbage for Friday and you better not charge me extra!!! I supported them when they were on strike as I am union also. I wish they are better... Constantly misses or improperly does pickups. EVERYTIME I have scheduled an additional pickup because they missed or improperly provided service, it gets missed again. I'll call for a status and get some explanation and runaround, which eventually leads to my trash not getting picked up. I'll have to wait for their "normal" route to get trash picked up. This is happened to me at least a dozen times already between recycle and regular trash in the last two years. They took neighborhoods worth of trash cans by "mistake" then claimed they didn't have enough bins to give back and left some neighborhoods without bins for weeks. Republic services is one of the worse run companies I have had to deal with in 40 yrs. I had been in management for 35 yrs and i recognized right away that management was the problem. In my 8 yrs of dealing with them there have been many times that they will put you on hold and never come back. We are on will call for dumpster service. We have had them show up when we dont call them and dont show up when we do which has put us at odds with the local health dept. Right now Im waiting on a 10yrd dumpster I ordered a week ago to be here today. I have a crew of people showing up here tomorrow to work and no dumpster. They say there was a problem with the order. But instead of calling me and telling me that they just dont show up. Now I have to pay these folks showing up tomorrow and send them home. Republic Services sucks the big one! read more

I am very frustrated with Republic. I made several calls to make sure the account will be closed properly weeks before the closing date, as there were lots of issues when I opened the account. I was told that the bins would be picked up the week after the last day service. A week before the pick up date, I called again to make sure that it was the last day and bins will be picked up next week, was confirmed. I drove long way to take the bins out, called again on the day of pick up to make sure they are picked up, was told that the account wasn't closed and the bin would not be picked up. If I could give zero starts I would. On the 14th of this month, one of their drivers hit my car and damaged it. Their supervisor was called out to the scene and stated they would get this resolved immediately and give me a call within 48 hours. It's now the 24th of the month and I have literally called them every day to get ahold of the supervisor. They keep telling me he will call and nothing. I'm literally on the phone with them right now and am being told the same thing again. Whole I'm taking, the customer service reps just sighs and puts me on hold without even telling me or anything. A perfect illustration of why competition is an absolute necessity. Lazy workers, incompetent corporate office, zero accountability. National website doesn't link to the local sites, but the local policy trumps the national (which you only find out after they refuse to pickup the garbage). Customer service gets sketchy when you try to pin them down exactly to what the requirements are - basically if the guy in the truck decides not to pick something up FOR WHATEVER REASON, you are the one out of luck for a week or two unless you want to pay them to come back. If I had a choice, I would gladly pay more to someone else. Given the vast number of negative reviews, I'm pretty sure they don't care. **2020 UPDATE** Here we are some 10+ years later and still this company has customer service issues. Completely unprofessional drivers that refuse to pick up recycle bags all of a sudden and instead choose to nock them over and spill the contents all over our driveway. The apartments that I live in is a one-way entrance and exit as I was pulling up to get dropped off at my house the garbage truck was in front of the dumpster... he begin backing up with clear view of seeing the car behind him.. we than honk at him to let him know give us a second as I get my things out of the vehicle but the man inside of the garbage truck keeps honking yelling, GET OUT MY WAY! as I pull out my phone to videotape his behavior he looks at me and says what's the problem then he begins to yell out his route number 764 saying if I have a problem there you go! Called on 3/5 at 4:45 PM and was promised the cart would be delivered that evening--it wasn't. Called again on 3/7 to find out when cart would be delivered and was told it had been delivered--it hadn't, and I was promised a delivery by 3/11. Called on 3/11 to assure that cart would be delivered as promised--second promised delivery--and was promised cart would be delivered by 5:00 PM. IT WASN'T! It is now after 7 PM and yet another delivery promise broken. I'm getting tired of trying to get these morons to deliver my cart--good thing there isn't another option because given a choice I'd do business with Waste Management. read more
