Zero stars would even be too much. Been having service issues with them for nearly 2-3 months. Had to call nearly every week to report missed pick ups. Rather than attempting to actually fix the problem they thought it would be easier to cancel service to the area. Received a letter in the mail without any direct communication. The operations team at this division is absolutely pathetic. The saddest part is they stated they were subcontracting the trash pickup up to another company. Then they chose to blame the subcontractor for their operational ineffectiveness. They could easily pick up the trash themselves but they do not seem interested in doing so. I received a wonderful letter today from Republic Services. Let me read a nice quote from them. "Republic Services will be discontinuing all twice a week waste pickup service in your area....Your quarterly pricing will remain the same and in exchange for this service enhancement, we will be offering the following benefits...."... and the BIG service enhancement is ONE free bulk pickup. Woohoo Republic Services, you've really hit the ball out of the park. Wow! You've really outdone yourself. In reality, this is a da** insult to all of their customers and to their intelligence. It's like being given the Jelly of the Month membership in place of your work bonus. I'm paying the same price (which is ALWAYS going up) and I'm losing a day of service that I used to pay for. Seriously, you have the balls to say a service enhancement?! This is a LOUSY CHEAP GREEDY typical corporate American business cheating all of their customers and then trying to play it off as a good thing. Not only that, but they've given the middle finger to their employees who now will have 1/2 the number of hours. And it gets worse!! By signing up for Republic Services, you automatically enter into a lovely two-year contract. You want out? You have to pay the entire rest of the service fees for your contract. That's worse than Comcast or Verizon; at least with them, you are guaranteed your price during your contract. Here, they can just remove service days and increase the price whenever they da** well please. Let me add to the misery. They miss my trash can all of the time. I probably reported only 5-6 of them, but it happens all the time. It's not so big a deal when they come twice a week. But now, I guess I have some reports to file. Oh and did I mention they recently upped the price of their service! I made the mistake of signing up with these morons. I thought, screw the reviews it's just a trash service. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. We've used Republic Services for 20+ years and NEVER had an issue with them. Ever. Even through all of COVID, they came on time every week and I could consistently count on them. In bad weather they were here unlike other companies. Then all of the sudden around Memorial Day 2021, service sharply declined. Everyone in town was complaining that trash hadn't been picked up and everyone was getting different excuses from customer service or couldn't get through at all. I wasn't even offered to report this as a missed pickup but instead was told my trash would be picked up the following week on my scheduled day. Now, this led to trash completely overflowing not just for me but everyone in my town! And then just about a week and a half ago, we get a letter stating that residential service was ending in my town on 7/12. And evidently not everyone got this letter because people in my neighborhood still have their trash out waiting to be picked up! And guaranteed no one will see any kind of refund. COVID be damned. Your service took a nose dive so please don't try to cover things up with the excuse of COVID. You left us all high and dry. It's a shame - a company I once trusted and recommended, I now cannot stand. Extremely poor treatment on your end. Totally expecting to see you fold soon at this rate. read more

Quarterly price increases like clockwork. Administrative fees of $5.95 and fuel/environmental fee of $5.98. Also a charge to pick up your trash container at the end of service of $30. They will not allow container to be dropped off! Cannot recommend. read more

Sent us a postcard that our weekly pickup day was changing from Thursday to Tuesday. No problem. The week of the change came. No service. Called to report a missed pickup, rep said they would just do a double pickup the following week. Fine. Pickup day came again and no service. Called them yesterday, they don't even know if they service my area anymore. Are you kidding? This is absolutely pathetic. No communication and broken promises this is beyond sad. I called to have service started last week, and was told my bin would be delivered Monday. It wasn't, so I called and was told my pickup day is on Thursday. It would be delivered then and I could leave any trash out to be pick up. I get home from work and nothing was delivered or taken away. This time I called to confirm I even had an account set up. It turns out I did, which I then had the service person cancel. Based on the other reviews it seems the company actually did me a favor. read more

If you want to pay more money than other companies charge just to never have your trash picked up, then this is the right company for you. Missed my first 5 pickups in a row and several more after my several complaints. Rude customer service. Lots of hidden fees. Worst company I have ever dealt with and want nothing more than for this company to go out of business. I cancelled my service 2 months ago and just received a "final notice" for charges that I had no idea about. When I cancelled my service the lady told me I owed $25 and that was it. Not sure where these other charges came from but I paid them anyway just so I didn't have to spend a half hour on hold to talk to their rude customer service and have nothing done. They say they give you free trash/recycling cans but what they don't tell you is that they charge you to drop them off and pick them up which equates to the cost of purchasing your own cans. I have been a customer for 5 years. I had questions regarding bulk pick up which i had previously for 5 years had 1 item free per week. I was advised that my account now has a $16 dollar collection fee per bulk item and since the company lost the local township that they picked up for previously, I now had rate changes and extra fees that I never had previously. I decided to leave the company since I do not agree with their business ethics. I am not part of the township pick up area, I am required to have my own trash pick up account. I was being treated as a township customer who had township account, not a personal account. I canceled and was told I would get a refund for the final month I paid for if i canceled before the month began. I was also told I would be assessed a $33 pick up container fee that I refuse to pay. I wrote an email to them the same day that I canceled and was responded to the next day stating that the fee is non negotiable (even though I was never advised of this when I started service) and that I would not be getting any refund because I am paid for the quarter and if you cancel mid quarter you get nothing back. (Completely contradicting what I was advised the day before). I called and spoke with someone who advised me that they would request my last months credit but I would have to pay the bin pick up fee. I advised that there is no way i will pay for that. I advised that I had to use their bin to have their service, I have had the service for 5 years and I am not paying for them to take the bin, I would rather dispose of it. I was told that if I do not return it I am charged, and if they pick up I am charged. This is completely unacceptable. The customer service reps are over apologetic but offer no resolution or assistance to waive the fees or get back $ that was due to me. My neighbor also canceled due to the fact that they changed everything recently and she was quoted a $15 bin pick up fee and they waived it for her. My neighbor was the one who got multiple neighbors to change trash companies and come to you. So disappointing since I had great service from the company for 5 years before this horrible change. I've had this service for 10 years and had no complaints until my rates started consistently going up. I called another local trash company to compare rates and to my surprise the other company was less than half the cost per month as republic services for the same type of service. I cancelled immediately! I received a bill 2 months later saying "final notice" even though this was the first time I was seeing the bill. I called to find out the reason for the $66 charge and come to find out it is a removal charge to come and remove my trash/recycle bin from my property. Are you kidding me? I was charged to have the bins and now I'm charged to remove them! Plus I was never notified of such a charge when I cancelled my service. I did receive a credit for half the cost but this is an absolutely ridiculous fee. It's a shame I leave this company with such a negative attitude after 10 years of service. read more
