I was a customer for at least 10 years, always paying my bill. However I moved in July and canceled my service. During the fall I got a final bill which I paid. Then later in the fall I got another bill and by November I got a letter from a collection agency. I called Republic services and was told that the error would be taken care of and that it was not necessary for me to pay any further. On January 7 I get another threatening letter from a collection agency. I cannot recommend a company who allows its loyal customers to be treated this way. I'd been a customer for almost 2 years with Republic Services never had a problem till last 3 months now. Trash for my entire street has been missed for 2 weeks now. The local company was less that HALF of what Republic charged. I called to cancel and was informed that I can either drop my container off or pay $30 for them to come pick it up. What a joke!! When called they stated I need to be calling them within 24 hrs every time they miss picking up my trash. So... Service was good, but they have continued to raise rates consistently. I cancelled when they were charging me $32/month. I switched to Ozark Refuse for the same service at $18/month. When I called Republic Services to cancel, they wanted to charge me $30 just to come get their trash can. I complained so they told me if I bring the can myself to their facility on Bennett street, the charge would be waived--which is what I did. Poor service, over-charged, poor customer service. Repeatedly missed pick-ups of regular and recycle trash. Both cans are falling apart with the lids breaking at the connecting point. Charges for can delivery before first pick-up and $60 ($30 each) for can pick-up when service cancelled. They refunded $4.84 for 1 of many missed pick-ups. I recommend everyone else! read more

Usually Republic services always picked up the trash every Wednesday on time for years. With in the last month the scheduled services have not been on time and so far for the month of April they have missed my trash pick up three times. This is truly a trash company. They have not picked up my household trash for over two weeks. I have reported the missed pick ups three times online. I called them yesterday because of the missed pickups and they assured me that they would pick it up today, but they have not. In response to them failing again, I am writing this review. If I could give them a negative 5 stars I would. Fortunately, the timing is in my favor. I received my bill for the next pay period and I am going to let them know that they can come pick up their container. Given that they will not pick up my trash, they will encounter a full container upon their arrival. I also reported them to the city government and the state attorney general. This Company is a disgrace. There's a charge for everything they do. Paying for they're gas. Admin. Fee all these other fees they just keep adding on more. So expensive. Nothing special about them. We have been with this company for 10 years and are finally fed up. They cost more than anybody else in the area. It started reasonable, but finally crept up to over $38.75 a month for standard service with one cart. This is over double the going rate. And during the winter weather, we went for 2 weeks with no pickup, even though the roads were only covered part of the time. The neighbors all have different services and got picked up every week (obviously it might have been a day or two late). I called after the first week and was told to just pile the trash by the road. Of course, only the first week's worth would fit in the container, meaning plastic bags for the rest. Which animals scattered every night. Every day, it was cleaning up scattered trash and re-bagging. But every day (for 2 full weeks) they said to leave it out there because they were going to work extra hours to get everybody caught up. Finally, my normal day rolled around for the third time (at this point, we're buried in trash). Guess what? They skipped us. I called, upset, and they said they'd send somebody. When I asked about a refund for the missed weeks, they said no. Because the problem was weather-related. Even though every other house (3 different services) in the area managed to figure it out. I argued, so the customer service person said, "Ok, you're paying 38.75 a month and there's five weeks in a month [it's February...]. So that's 7.75 a week. For 2 weeks, that will be 12 dollars." Seriously? I'm paying double, getting the worst service in the area and dealing with blatant dishonesty? There's no excuse for this kind of service. I'm out. read more

I canceled the service July 28 and spoke with the office and I had paid up through the end of July they were to pick up my can and now it's September first and our trashcan is still sitting out there I have also received phone calls and letters saying that I owed them money I was past due so I called and said I no longer have the service and I was told that they would pick up the trashcan in 24 hours. As of September 1 this has not happened I have been told this now two times when you do try to call them the phone rings and rings and if you do get the option for them to call you back but then they don't call you back. Also they are charging $30 to pick up the trashcan unless you can take it yourself which this will not fit in our car. read more

This is the most consistently worse trash service I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They have not picked up the trash multiple (4) times in the last 6 months. When you try calling to let them know they missed it yet again, there is no response after the bot they have answering the phone. If I had the option to go elsewhere for trash removal service I definitely would. Very unhappy. read more

I cancelled my account 9/30/2019. I requested a refund of our yearly bill. When I called the second wee of October, I was told that my refund was processed to the card that I opened the account with. I explained to the customer service agent that that card had expired long ago and the account was closed when we moved out of state. She informed me that she would request for a check to be issued. I have called every week since mid October and have been told that the issue was being escalated yet here I sit on November 18 and the check has not been issued. I am becoming extremely frustrated I do not know why it takes so long to investigate the issue. If the situation was reversed and I owes republic services money, they would go to the ends of the earth and back to make sure that I resolved it. Up until July 2021 we used Republic Service for over 10 years, mainly because at the time we signed up it was one of the few companies that would service our area. During our time with they slowly raised their prices. It started out reasonable, but increased fuel charges and service charges and by 2021 it was up to $150 every three months. Finally (and I realize I waited too long) I looked into other companies and switched to Ozark Refuse for $51 every 3 months, 1/3 the price, not fuel surcharges. After we canceled, Republic Services sent us a bill for $23.44, a cancellation charge, which we thought was ridiculous but we paid so our credit won't be effected. When we canceled they told us that they would be coming to pick up our trash can, but after sitting out at the top of our driveway for 3 months we finally put it behind our shed. Fast forward to today, we received a bill for $49.42, which we thought was because they didn't see our can to pick it up. My husband called to tell them that we still had the can and didn't need to be charged. However, the charge wasn't for not picking up the can, but it is a charge for "container removal," which they haven't done. So not only did they charge us 3 times as much as other companies for a decade, but now we have to pay $75 just to get rid of them and we still have their can behind our shed, even though we apparently paid for them to remove it. Republic Service is a shady company, use any other trash company and you'll be better off. read more

We've been with RS for years. Usually we receive prompt service. I must say, however, that has not been the case lately. I scheduled (for the first time) a "missed pick up" last week (7/29) and was told (by someone in Arizona - I'm in Missouri) that our trash would be picked up on Monday (8/1). Monday - no show. Tuesday - no show. I began calling on Tuesday. Continued to call on Wednesday (all together, 6 times. Put on hold each time. No answer). Called again today (8/4). Once again, put on hold. No answer. Tried emailing from their own website. No response. Regular service is tomorrow so its rather a moot point now. However, due to the lack of response our trash container smells rancid now. The company did not pick up my recycling container for 2 months straight. They said due to staffing shortages (which I understand) however no refunds or compensation was returned for the months I had been paying and not getting service. I decided to cancel my service all together and switch companies. Republic services did not come pick up the containers for 2 more months after I stopped service. I then got an invoice for $60 removal fee. I called customer service and reported that the containers had never been removed they came the next day and told me that I would still have to be charged $60 for removal. They did nothing to retain my business or make the situation right. read more

They keep sending me bills even though I no longer live at the address. They cannot Bill accurately and do not know how to organize a billing program. I cancelled services in June when the company added a large environmental fee to the bill. I was told that my container would be picked up and I was willing to pay $30 to be rid of the company. The container was never picked up. I called customer service and was told that the container that I could see out in the street had been picked up on June 6. I kept the container near the street for three additional weeks. I attempted to call Republic Services again, but gave up after waiting for 20 minutes. Today, September 20, I received a bill for $30, which included an extra fee of $15 for fuel/environmental services. After another 20+ minute wait I was told that I could return the bin to them for free. Save yourself the hassle and money. read more

The drivers do an excellent job and are professional and courteous. However, our entire sub-division was missed and I recieved no call. After being on hold for an hour, they said it was just a missed pickup (for the entire sub-division). Said would pick up the next day. Didn't show. Called back and asked why. Circumstances beyond their control. Asked for a refund and they said it had to be late a week before that could happen. Explained that it would be like paying for someone to clean your house each Saturday and they not show up until the next Friday, clean your house then come back the next day. It has been one day short of 3 weeks since our trash was picked up. Before that, it was 2 weeks and it was also missed one week during January. I have contacted the company Friday, Monday, and today and been told it would be picked up each day and today was told I would receive a phone call from the local office. On my last call today, I was told that I hadn't been put on the list to be picked up yet, but during each previous conversation I was told I had been. I used them for many years, then the problems started. Poly carts thrown in the bar ditch, poly carts left out in the road, if there was a sprinkling of snow, no pickup for the whole week, and then they try to bill you for the missed pickup, then prices increased by 51%. Trying to terminate service was a nightmare, and they try to bill you for poly cart pickup. I apparently have a credit due, they said 4-5 weeks to receive a check. Could not close out the account until the end of the month, when they would pick up the poly cart. Finally got service terminated, did they pick up the poly cart, nope, two weeks and counting. My wife and I built a house in a nice neighborhood in Mattawan. We sign up for service from Republic and then they skipped our house on the first week for recycling. We then call the office to let them know that they missed us, only to get a promise that they'd be by the next day citing the guy who normally does the route was on vacation. We get the direct number for a supervisor who then promised us he's send someone by to pick up the recycling the next day, only to have the next day come and go and still no one has come by to get the recycling. This started on a Tuesday and it's now Saturday of Easter weekend at our new home, and our recycling is still sitting outfront over the weekend. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any service. Not coming to get the recycling is 1 thing, but to make promises only to lie and break them is another. read more

If only I could choose 0 stars. I had issues with this company and their billing practices from day 1. I reported them to the BBB and suddenly a higher official made contact with a lot of promises to help resolve my problems. Now after the rate increase from $45 a quarter to $60.60 a quarter I called to discontinue service. It took absolutely forever to finally get a call back and even then was basically harassed about my changing services due to the increase. I voiced a complaint regarding no notice of these increases and was told they have millions of customers and can't provide notice to them all. I find this unacceptable. Trying to cancel my trash service the end of the year but boy it you have a hard time doing that. I was on the phone with customer service a while back because three weeks in a row they didn't pick up my stuff. And finally I was able to get through to somebody. And after we were done she said we're going to credit you the weeks we didn't pick up which they never did and I asked about recycling because I've been taking my stuff down to the Springfield recycling place end it's a bit tedious. So they were like oh yeah we have recycling it's $16 a quarter and it's not it's $20 a quarter I can post a photograph here that shows you by the time they add their $17.44 administrative fee on top of the what they're saying on the bill now is $12 do that math. It's all a bunch of Hocus Pocus. Then they said yes will send you out a container for your recycling it's the same size as your regular trash container which I filled full every two weeks I'm a good recycler and generally had less than one bag of trash. So started only putting out the 2 containers on recyling day. Which of course means they were only picking up my regular trash every other week because there was nothing hardly in it. How about 2 weeks into my recycling I get a bill from them for $54.84 for Republic services quote "drop off the recycling container." NEVER ONCE DID ANYONE SAY THERE WAS A CHARGE TO DROP OFF A CONTAINER, l didnt pay anything to get the trazh OFF A FREE CONTAINER.... Oh no, l don't own it for that price, its my FREE container. I made multiple calls to the office, to be told l had to pay tge 54.98 it and a $35 late fee for not paying it on time they have my bank info so they charged it to me AFTER I TOLD THEM NOT TO!!!! IM ON 790$ A MONTH DISABILITY, thanks republic services. You are a band of thieves!!! You overdrew my checking account, cost me $32.... Besides that my best friend lives 2 blocks from there and would have picked it up for me and l would have gotten it a week earlier and recycles would have gotten picked up that week. During the "snow" they would not pick up trash on our road for over 3 weeks! The roads were plowed. Our neighbor uses Christian County Waste and their trash was never missed. I called to cancel. Was told they would pick up the 2 garbage cans that have been emptied and sitting on the road. They refuse to come get them. Runaround at the customer service number. We had garbage piling up in our garage for 4 weeks straight. Ended up with mice. It was horrible and now this. I do not recommend this company to anyone!! read more

We had our cans dropped off in July and less than a week later we were told they couldn't service our area and asked us to move the cans to the road so they could be emptied and removed. Okay, not a problem because we found another service. Here we are nearing the end of September and the cans are still here. I call weekly to ask what's going on and it's always the same answer "They will be picked up next week and a supervisor will be in touch" when we called yesterday the woman told us they were scheduled to be picked up by close of business yesterday. I have never worked with a company that is worse than republic trash service. They claim a 4 star rating, but they must be padding that somehow. The price has gone up every 3 months since I have been with them. Customer service is worthless and can't answer the simplest of questions. I cancelled in December and someone didn't finish the process, so they are trying to charge a late fee. They charge $20 to bring you one of their containers before starting service. Who does that? There are lots of disposal services in Springfield, I would definitely recommend anyone else. read more
