One of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with. I will try to keep this short. My stepmother usurped our family business after my father died. She did so by using two of her three alcoholic brothers that were residing at our business as pit bulls. The business became stagnant, along with their trash and past customers' trash. (We did try to evict her and her siblings, but were unsuccessful. The local police did not offer much help.) Our business neighbor complained about the trash not being picked up, as the Republic bill was not being paid by my stepmother. Meanwhile, she and her horde were still creating trash. In desperation, we appealed to the Town of Maggie Valley (that's a whole other story), and instead of receiving help, there was a vague threat of the dumpster and trash being removed, which would have created a bigger problem for us. I was in no position to pay for a stolen Republic dumpster. My husband decided to contact Republic to pay for part of the outstanding bill out of the corporation's funds. The funds were limited, so he asked if half of the bill could be paid in a left message, and then fell asleep. Republic called back. I asked Republic if only half the bill could be paid and if that action of only paying half would allow Republic to pick up the overflowing trash. They said, "Yes, paying just half would allow for pick up of your trash." We told them that we would pay for half of the bill until we could remedy the situation we were in. We made it clear that this situation was a health hazard as well. My husband called Republic later and OKed paying half the bill; they did as well. Republic paid for the whole bill without our permission. We appealed directly to them by phone and email. Only one employee tried to help us. Corporate would never respond to my emails, and when they did, they gave me the runaround. In a last attempt to get back our money, a woman lied to us over the phone and said a check for us was cut. We never received one. I contacted the Better Business Bureau. I mistakenly told the BBB that the trash bill was paid from our personal credit card; my husband later told me that I was wrong and that it had come from corporate funds. The BBB gives you possibly up to ten investigation days and a few days to respond after they contact the business you are complaining about. At the time, I had to deal with other legal problems that arose when my father died. I also assumed that the BBB would take a long time. They didn't. I missed the window to contest Republic's response which was a TOTAL LIE. They claimed that nothing I had reported had even transpired. They even claimed that they had reimbursed us. At that point, I was too tired to provide emails or a bank statement, which would have helped my case. I can upon request. Pitiful, but true. Some interesting facts- part of Republic's response stated: "The call in conversation was over knowing that the trash would be cleaned up. The account was closed and cleaned up." First of all, we never asked them to "clean up" anything. We just asked them to pick up the dumpster's contents. We did not expect anyone to pick up any trash outside of the dumpster. Second of all, was our account dirty? And wouldn't it have to be cleaned up and then closed? And what does "cleaned up" mean in my case? Adding lies into my account notes? (Who writes this stuff?! I guess someone obsessed with cleaning up.) Republic is also known as GDS of Asheville. You can view my BBB complaint online. They might pick up your trash, but they also will treat you like trash. read more

The only way it could be worse would be for them to actually bring trash and throw it out because they CONTINUALLY miss pickups and then make up reasons that don't make sense. "You had cars parked where they caused it to be hard to get to your container". "Sorry, we've been parking cars there for 8 years." ".............." Today marked 6 days since they picked up. I called this morning and was told they were 2 hours late. Called back in three hours to be told a couple more hours. Called back at the close of business and was told "Sorry, it is so close to the end of the day we can't get this taken care of tomorrow it will be later this week." Save your stress and time and go with someone, ANYONE else! read more

We refer customers to Republic Services without hesitation. They are the best at what they do here in Asheville. The sales representatives here in Asheville are very professional and knowledgeable. They are head and shoulders above the competition in this area. read more

I have used Republic Services since June 2014. They increased their rate 20% in Q1 of 2015 ... 20%! That's along with a $10 fuel charge and a $3 administrative charge. The next move is for me to haul it to the plant myself while still paying them I suppose. Anyway, I wrote something on my bill last month to complain. No response. I called this month and within several hours my local rep called me back. Unfortunately I received a nice talk about their for profit status and they haven't given any prices hikes so far and that I didn't balk at the cost when I first signed on, etc. By law, my business requires recycling. Apparently that gives free reign to price gouging and a lack of concern for their customers. As I mentioned to my Asheville rep, I am required to use a recycler by law, all I am able to do at this point is to vent a little ... and they don't even want me to do that. Republic Services sucks at customer service and obviously do not care for their customers. If in doubt use anyone else if you can. I am happy to adjust this rating if anyone is willing to reach out from Republic Services. I doubt that will happen. Kevin read more

I am very disappointed with Republic Services. My scheduled pick up is on Wednesday, and sometimes they miss the pickup allowing additional garbage to overflow the container and they are charging extra sometimes doubling the agreed amount for overflow garbage. I have been in the Asheville area for about one year but the business that relocated me to Asheville had an existing contract with Republic Services. Upon obtaining some competitive quotes, it became glaring apparent that we were being "substantially overcharged" for the particular services being rendered. Upon notifying Republic, I was able to meet with their local sales representative to negotiate a substantial price reduction (over 50% decrease) based on the competitive quote I'd received from a market competitor and I also agreed to initiate an new, multi-year agreement at the reduced rates but Republic insisted on being the "exclusive provider" of these services. Since our business needs call for multiple dumpsters; we refused to agree to that provision. How do you penalize the new service provider that helped you obtain the lower rate by eliminating them from the playing field? Republic was given several weeks to consider the "long term agreement" without the exclusivity clause but they adamantly REFUSED to waiver and be willing to co-exist in shared competitive environment. As a result of their unwillingness to be reasonable and cooperative and also not respecting or valuing our years of business partnership together; we will be cancelling all of our services previously handled by Republic just as quickly as possible. If you have not "price checked your current rates & fees" with Republic lately; you owe it to yourself to see if possibly you could be being overcharged by 50% or more, just like we were! read more

We have had a wonderful experience working with Carrie and Sarah at Republic waste services. Their staff is professional and does a great job. Safety is our number one priority at Cintas and their staff does a great job at this too. If I ever have a question they have very quick response and do a great job keeping us a very satisfied customer. read more
