Little late on this review but I hade to post. I was there on 10/10 /25 and man were they on a point. As soon as we were seated we order a couple of drinks. being a full houses I was expecting it would be a while before our drinks would be brought to our table but no they came right away. We then ordered our food and dam it was on our table in less than 15 minutes. We order a fajita and shrimp molcajete. It was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. read more

We've been meaning to try this restaurant for a while. After seeing the reviews online, we finally decided to give it a shot. The ambiance inside the restaurant was nice; very standard Mexican fine dining restaurant vibes. The service from the waiter was outstanding. His recommendations were spot on, especially the dessert. We came during off peak hours, which was nice. We tried the flautas cantineras, which were delicious. I had the tacos de picanha, which were good but a bit smaller than I expected, especially for the high price. However, the corn bread dessert was the best part of the experience. We would not have gotten it without the recommendation from the waiter. Highly recommend coming here for fine dining experience in Laredo. read more

Great place for a nice tasty dinner. Best salsa Verde I have ever had and I m pretty solid in the kitchen myself. I had the Grilled Octopus see below and and it decilious. I would recommend the chef to stay away from the Tabasco sauced potatoes it didn't pair well with it at all and use perhaps the red salsa or other sauce. Service is really good here. I had the choriqueso and the pork belly tacos. The ambiance is really nice too, I would say the music was a little loud hard to have a conversation with the person across. I give this place 3 stars because this is the second time I come here, ordered two different sets of tacos and they were absolute trash. My pork belly tacos over cooked and dry. Not even seasoned. For $20 and get 3 tacos is waste of money. My first visit I ordered the bone marrow ribeyes tacos and it was like getting scraps of dried ribeye. Thankfully the bone marrow made it taste better. I'm giving this place 3 stars because my friend ordered an octopus platter which was really really good. Tons of flavor. My advice is that you should probably get a reservation if you're going anytime after 6pm because it does fill out. Date night with drinks will cost you over $100. I recommend not getting any tacos, because they don't do that well at all. I recommend getting the molcajetes or platters because that's the stuff that comes out good. Great food & drinks! Only issue was a hostess in the front was horrible.. made us feel unwanted. Days prior I tried calling because we were going to be a table of 10 so I wanted to make a reservation but no one ever answered the phone so we just decided to show up. My husband and I showed up earlier than expected to make sure we could get a table and the hostess told us she wasn't sure, she could seat us because she had another reservation of 10 at 6pm. Mind you we got there at 5:15, we did tell our guest to get there at 6 but that was the whole reason we got there early to make sure we can secure a spot. We told her, she can seat them first since they obviously have a reservation but I did tell her I tried calling days prior and no answer. She said the other people were not there yet. She told us that she would be able to seat us ONLY if our guest got there right at 6. We told her, we couldn't determine when exactly our guest were going to arrive but we had told them at 6. By this time i could see my husband getting frustrated and wanting to leave so i started leaning towards the door to leave and she told us to hold on. After all that of going back and forth, She was able to seat us. Also there was plenty of other tables to make room for large number of guest. Luckily, our guest got there around 6. The night continued to be great because we had the BEST waiter, Aldo, who made our night a whole lot better. As we were ending the night, and about to cut my husbands cake. The same hostess comes up to us and says she going to move us to a smaller table because 2 of our guest didn't show up and the people who had reserved for 6 (it was already 7:45) were still waiting. Like I mentioned before, throughout the time we were there, there was plenty of tables to make for 10 in which they could have set aside. We told our waiter we were getting moved (he was bringing us our plates for the cake) and you could tell he was pretty upset. I mean, we were already almost finished and i'm pretty sure he wanted our tip because we were getting plenty drinks (they are NOT cheap). As we are gathering our stuff, our waiter came back and told us, we are able to stay at our table & for us not to worry. Again, thanks to him we had a good night. That lady makes me not want to go back there when we have a large crowd or better yet, answer the phone when people call so reservations can be made so that people won't have this problem. read more

Great service, pricey, but worth it. They recently extended the area to include more tables. The drinks are great. I usually get the Volcanes de ribeye which are awesome . My wife gets the cowboy cut steak medium but when they bring it out on the hot skillet it gets overcooked . You must eat it fast . Overall it's still good. read more

Food was ok. I ordered a medium ribeye but came out medium well. Meat was very tough and dry. They put the steak in a ribbed grill for visuals but cutting into the steak and heading the knife hit kinda not great. Very chewy ow quality of beef. I also ordered the cheesecake with Guava but make sure to take it off because it still had seeds and probably broke like 3 teeth. Ambiance is nice, drinks, pretty fun place. So far I can't hear anything, the music is beyond loud in here. Can't have a conversation that's for sure. The acoustics are not built for this room. Just uncomfortable. Ok lemme tell you my latest on this place. We were ordering drinks that were comprised of vodka and club soda with lime and Tajín on the rim. The lime provided was a thin slice that you couldn't juice, so we asked for more lime. Food was delicious as always. However, when we get the tab, we are charged $4 for limes and $3 for the Tajín for EACH drink! Needless to say, we paid over $24 just for the stuff on the rim of our drinks. Wtf. read more

I came to República Cantina De Mexico last week and was very excited. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was warmly greeted by the hostess. I was also able to dine in without a reservation and the wait was roughly about 15 minutes because of it. The ambiance was chic combined with a contemporary sophisticated touch. Moreover, my Friend and I asked to be sat outside and was very happy with the service from our server, Güendy. The server was knowledgeable with the menu and provided us with great options. She was on top of her game and was very polite too. I ordered the enchiladas suizas and overall was satisfied. The enchiladas were warm and had great flavor to it. The cheese was melted on top of the enchiladas and think that added the extra creamy touch to the dish. The rice was well cooked too and overall had good texture to it. However, I would recommend adding more "comino" to add more flavor. Rice is a good hit or miss. So be careful with that. Also, the refríed beans were a bit dry and needed more flavor to it. My experience was overall good and glad to have made a stop here, while in Laredo. -P.S. I would be careful with accommodating large groups outside in the patio. A high table in particular seles to have a lot of people and kept getting bumped into. read more
