(I didn't know there was a separate way to Yelp Ricky Hoover so this is a copy of the review I posted concerning Elliot & Co. and Ricky Hoover. Thanks bro.): When I moved to Vegas I looked around, Yelp'ed around, asked around & shopped around for the best barber shop. Hands down, Elliot & Co is THE best place to get a haircut in Las Vegas. For the sake of those who aren't already aware: this is THE spot for a world class haircut. I'd heard that a lot of local & non-local UFC & Bellator fighters come here which I thought was cool, but that's nothing compared to how cool of a vibe this shop has & how cool the ENTIRE staff is. From the moment I walked in, the person who greeted me at the desk made me feel like I'd been coming there for years already. A genuine smile and "hi how are you, how can we help you..." as SOON as I walked in. Within 15 seconds, I felt right at home and sadly, that's rare at a Vegas barbershop when you aren't a regular. I didn't have an appointment, had never been there & none of that mattered -- the guy at the front desk went right to work & made every effort to find me someone as quickly as he could. Rather than just saying "nope, sorry, you'll need an appointment..." or "if you want to come back in a few hours we might have someone..." he hopped on the computer right away & said "no worries man, I'll find you something..." Click...Boom! He goes "if you can wait maybe 20 minutes I can get you in with someone." He was sorry for me having to wait a measly 20 minutes & I had NO appointment and had never been there. That's 1st class treatment and effort. LESS than 20 minutes later, Elliot & Co hooked me up with Ricky Hoover. Now, not only does this dude LOOK cool (like he just got off stage rocking a 2 hour set at T-Mobile in front of 15,000 fans) but this guy is truly an ARTIST. Before he picked up a scissor, comb or clippers, he took a solid 5-10 minutes just to get to know me, ask me how I wanted my hair to look, how short go or long to keep it etc. And I could totally tell he was making mental notes of it all. Then he made a few (awesome) suggestions, counseled me on what he could do & advised what might look best. Then went to work. And this dude cut my hair like a sculptor who had a masterpiece in his mind and just needed to chisel off this piece & that piece and his vision would come to life. Ricky Hoover definitely didn't just "cut" my hair & send me on my way. Dude went to work trying to make me look my best, make me happy about coming to Elliot & Co, and help me leave feeling better about myself. And he did! To not have an appointment & be at place I'd never been, and then get the best haircut I've ever gotten anywhere (and I've gotten hair cuts on the Strip, NYC, LA, Dallas, Chicago & Miami) says so much about Elliot & Co. and Ricky Hoover is the REAL DEAL at this. Crazy to think that as awesome as he is with the scissors, he's a world class musician who's toured the world and elsewhere! Who else can say that? Finally, this week I finally got a second to pull him away from a customer and introduce myself to the Captain of the team, the Chairman of the Board -- Elliot Chester. Within two seconds, Elliot made me feel like family. He'd never met me and thanked me for coming in and for supporting him. I thanked him for making this great place possible and when I left I felt like a had a new friend. He is a great guy. My two friends (two pro MMA fighters) who also go here call Elliot their "brother" and I can see why. Success and stellar reputations like that of Elliot & Co starts from the top. And it's obvious to see how Elliot sets the tone and makes everything tick like a perfectly minted Swiss watch. The shop is super clean, totally laid back, feels like a private club, you can talk if you want or just relax if you don't, the front desk people treat customers like royalty, and you can walk in off the street with no appointment and get a cut that blows away ANYTHING the Strip can offer (and go compare prices too...). And not only that, but with no appointment and no connections, you get be in the hands of a Ricky Hoover who will NOT let you leave unless you are 100% happy with your cut and be in a shop that doesn't settle for anything but the best for its customers. To Elliot, Ricky, and the people who's names I haven't gotten yet -- thank you very much. Best cut and best shop in Vegas. Many will still say UFC's Conor McGregor is the best MMA fighter in the world. And thus, he could go anywhere when he's in town. So it stands to reason and I'm not surprised one BIT that he goes to Elliot & Co. when it's time for a fresh cut. Elliot: my two friends (two brothers who fight professionally "C.N." and "A.N.") literally call you their "brother" and they respect you incredibly both as a person and a businessman. What are the main things a dude asks of a Barber ? I believe I speak for the majority when I say skill, personality, cleanliness, and consistency. Ricky at Requiem Barbershop knocks it out of the park, every single time. He is such a professional at his craft that every cut is exceptional. He has confidence in his self, which just increases my confidence that I'm getting a quality haircut. I live 45 minutes from the shop and will continue to make the drive because that's just the type of place and Barber that we are talking about. Easy to converse with, knows exactly what I want and how I want it, passionate about the work he does, passionate about his clientele. The shop is clean, esthetic, organized and comfortable. Ricky Hoover is such a great person overall and such an amazing barber. I only go to him because he takes his time with you and your hair and won't spare any minor detail to ensure your complete satisfaction. When you're there, that whole hour is just you and him in there and he makes you feel like you're right at home with some great tunes and great conversation. I've been going to Ricky for about 3 months now and all I can say are great things about him. He genuinely cares about you as a client and is down to earth, I've been to barbershops where the vibe seems like you are wasting their time and it's almost awkward. Hands down my favorite barber I've ever been to. Ricky is extremely knowledgeable, sincere and a true master of his craft. He gave me advice on what to do for a dry scalp problem that has plagued me most of my life and with his help I was able to get rid of the issue. Ricky does amazing cuts and styling. I've never had to go home to wash my hair and style it myself after getting a cut from him (unlike most places). On top of that he holds a great conversation and really cares about his clients and their needs. Requiem for the win! read more
