    Dead rats everywhere.
    Min Y.

So the location is really awesome. It's very close to the Mall and the Metro is a few minutes away on foot. We ubered most of the days back and forth. I did have a few major issues with this hotel. 1. Breakfast quality. It was terrible. And I mean I can tolerate alot but what was served most mornings were close to being I edible. They also really need more coffee stations. It always seemed to be out. 2. Elevator situation is no good. The two banks of elevators are not enough. And one seemed to be out of order frequently. Ask for a room on the lower floors so you can just use the stairs. 3. Rooms are really outdated. I couldn't believe the condition that the kitchen cabinets were in. We were in a 2 bedroom suite and they were also tiny. 4. Parking situation. Okay I understand we are in a major metro and parking is scarce. I opted for the on-site parking and paid the daily fee. But the entrance way into the parking lot is ridiculous. There is an odd 30 degree bend right at the entrance. If you have a long vehicle you will be definitely scared of scratching your vehicle. 5. Rats. I mean they are everywhere. Saw two dead outside the property. One dead in the parking lot. But I think this seems to be a DC wide problem. Overall if you stay here it's more for the location. As far as residence inns go it was way below par. Will try other places next time.

I did not stay here but came for an event. The venue seems to be for a breakfast buffet. It was clean and simple. Customer service: Good. Parking: Free for this event but usually not free. Location: Next to Fire Work Pizza!

Pubic hair left on the bed/pillow. Sick. Fire the last housekeeper and hire someone who actually cares about their work.

How does one pick a hotel out of so many to choose from, that has pubic hair on a supposedly "clean room" on multiple areas of the bed? Next, the TV does not work at all no matter how much we tried to angle, push buttons and so on. When we tried to call the front desk person three times and no answer. And finally the sofa bed had zero bedding. I must say, as an avid traveler who tries to enjoy the time with my family, this hotel has only potential but fell short in every way. 1. Fire the housekeeper for being so damn lazy and putting myself and others at risk. 2. Fix your phone issue or make sure training is reiterated to the staff to make sure hospitality is the core of the training. This lazy and ineffective manner must stop before people lose their head. 3. Fix your damn TV's so that the item isn't just a piece which collects dust. 4. Make sure the bedding is completed on the sofa or at least have the items readily available to so travelers don't have to bother anyone. If you choose this place in the future, just remember, I told you so. JB

Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse is dog friendly.

Excellent Location and Impressive Staff! Due to a bad experience at a nearby hotel, I popped in to the Residence Inn to check rates and ended up reserving a room on the spot. (This was at the end of August 2012.) Immediately, I knew my stay here would be fantastic. The front desk was well staffed. There was no waiting to address my many questions and Jeffrey Kimmey at the front desk was efficient and extremely accomodating. I later discovered the entire staff acted that way. Proactive, visible, and available, staff members extended constant courtesy. Upon check-in, the General Manager, David, helped me unload my car and also delivered my bags to my room personally. My room was a one bedroom suite with a kitchen that included full size appliances and cookware, plus granite counters, which I believe is typical of the Residence Inn. However, the furniture in the living room seemed more modern than I have seen at other Residence Inns. There was a chair that reclined, an ottoman that slid under the coffee table, and a red couch with contemporary design. I really liked my room and I slept well there. This is my first hotel stay where I experienced a good night's sleep every single night of my stay, and actually got to sleep late a few mornings! For the first time ever at a hotel, housekeeping staff did not wake me up with loud knocking at other rooms, slamming doors, nor conversation in the hallway! I did not know it was possible to sleep so well at a hotel. My room overlooked 14th street, the same street where the entrance to the parking garage is located. It was very quiet and I did not hear any street noise. Breakfast was pretty good. There was plenty of variety with hot and cold choices as well as healthy choices, my favorite being the yogurt granola mixture. I made it to just one of the inclusive dinner's / Manager's Reception during my stay, which happened to be eggplant night. The eggplant parmesan was very good. Once again there was plenty of variety, which included salads, a meat dish, cheese & crackers, fruit, brownies, cookies and so much more. The Manager's Reception occurs 3 nights a week and there was a calendar on the refrigerator in my suite with the details. Breakfast and Reception staff were attentive and proactive, bringing me to-go cartons and straws, and just always smiling. Safety and security is in full force here. Elevators can only be accessed with a room card. When my hands were full, hotel employees assisted me immediately with the elevators. The hotel is dog friendly and everyone was very sweet to my Greyhound. The location of the Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse is ideal. Washington DC is easily accessible by metro. There is plenty to do within walking distance. This part of Arlington is filled with great restaurants, bars, and plenty of shopping! My favorites include Fire Works, a restaurant next to the hotel, and Wylie Wagg for dog food & toys. I also liked the nearby Loft store and it was a treat having a Whole Foods Grocery up the street. To sum it up, my stay at this hotel was outstanding. My experience here restored my faith in the hotel industry.

Parking is extra, which we paid in advance but then it was on our bill at the end of the stay, so make sure to check if you pay in advance. The pool is small, and when I went it was crowded and parents let their kids just scream their hearts out, so we ended up only staying a few minutes. That's not so much the hotel's fault, but the acoustics really echo and a lot of parents think pools are babysitters and don't even watch their kids. The gym is separated into cardio and weightlifting equipment which is a little inconvenient, especially as only one room had a water cooler, but it has standard equipment. The lobby is spacious if you want to hang out a bit. The price wasn't too bad for a big, comfortable room and only a few train station stops into town. It's a decent option if you want to visit. The shuttle to/from the terminal was convenient. The front desk was friendly and efficient. The room was large, extremely clean, and well-appointed - and most importantly, quiet. There was a large fitness center (shared with the hotel next door) which had everything from cardio machines to free weights/kettlebells to a power rack. It explains why…read morethe Hilton Garden Inn Arlington is an excellent choice to stay at--beyond just being a very nice hotel. I was in the area to attend a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery and needed accommodations nearby, so I booked at the Hilton Garden Inn Arlington. I've been a Hilton Honors member since 2005 and have always enjoyed consistently smooth experiences at Hilton properties. Since the service was scheduled for early afternoon, we requested an early check-in to give us time to prepare. The staff went above and beyond: they coordinated with the head of housekeeping to have a room ready for us. When we arrived at noon, everything was spotless and waiting. The real reason for this detailed review, though, happened at checkout. I accidentally left my toilet kit in the room. Once I returned home, I called the hotel, and the team made the process incredibly easy and stress-free. I first spoke with Mr. Adam Shewan-Gezaw, the Housekeeping Manager, who quickly located the item and explained the return options. Then Mr. Garry Reynolds, Front Desk Supervisor, followed up with an email that included additional contact details for Mr. Shewan-Gezaw, Ms. Joanne Solis (Housekeeping Supervisor), and Mr. Dimitri Dittimus (Guest Services Agent). Mr. Dittimus even reached out to me personally to provide updates on the progress. Everyone treated the matter with genuine care and urgency, even though the kit contained nothing of significant monetary value--just a few items that hold personal, sentimental meaning to me. Their attentiveness and teamwork were truly impressive. I can't thank the entire Hilton team enough for going the extra mile. In the end, sometimes any hotel will suffice. But when you encounter conscientious, customer-focused people like this, you know you'll be in excellent hands. Highly recommend.

The Hyatt Place in Arlington was a wonderful stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed wasn't the best hotel bed, but it wasn't horrible. It just felt more like a futon than a bed. This particular one is in a decent location, close to a metro stop and within walking distance of some restaurants not too far away. The rooms are exactly what you'd expect from a Hyatt Place, with the bed(s), couch, mini-fridge, bathroom, etc... Yet my experience here felt a bit subpar relative to my other stays at Hyatt Place hotels. This is mainly because of two minor things. First, I felt my interactions with staff were a bit frustrating. They were perfectly nice and polite, but I feel a bit slow. Upon check in, they asked for a credit card to take a security deposit and I asked them to charge it to the card on file. They either didn't understand or refused. I gave them the same card I had on file. It was the same thing. But that always annoys me and takes up more time than necessary. At breakfast the next day, they rope off the lobby creating a single entry point where they check your name for breakfast. Typically the free breakfast at Hyatt Place hotels is open and you just walk in. While I recognize this method is susceptible to random people walking in to take advantage of the breakfast, having a guest list to check off for such a basic (arguably not even good) breakfast seems a bit uninviting and indeed, time consuming. This is a perfectly fine hotel to stay at when in the area. But compared to the standard Hyatt Place experience, it falls short. Three stars.

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

It has 2 window treatments: 1 for limiting light and one for blocking the light totally. Each of these work with a chain arrangement. It's just steps away from the main Shirlington shops, including restaurants like Busboys and Poets, cafes, and even grocery stores. The whole area around the hotel seems very walkable. It feels like a nice little neighborhood rather than just another hotel strip. The one drawback is parking. You do have to pay, and the garage is about a block away rather than right under the hotel. It's manageable, though, and, I think, the convenience of the area makes up for it. Overall, this Hilton Garden Inn is a really good choice if you're visiting the DC area.
