Currently in the middle of a 12-day stay, and I could not be more pleased! They upgraded me to a one bedroom suite, which is spacious and comfortable. Many terrific amenities, including the outdoor pool and spa area. Every person on staff with whom I've come in contact is engaging and truly appears to enjoy his/her job. Housekeeping is so sweet and accommodating, making sure I have enough coffee for the in-room coffee pot. I know "home away from home" is cliche, but the Residence Inn lives up to that motto! read more

This Inn is definitely one of best Residence Inn I had stayed so far. They have a good location and the rooms are very spacious and clean. Most importantly the staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was nicely presented and very well maintained. The staff was very attentive in keeping up with everything that was needed during breakfast. They even have small refrigerators to store the milk, yogurt and other cold products. It was very nicely kept. The room was very clean and well organized. It was a small apartment but this one was perfectly organized to be comfortable. The bed is far from the kitchen and the dining table was not inside the living room but next to the kitchen. We booked this hotel on the same night we were staying so the price was probably a bit high from regular rates but it was worth very penny. It is located about a block away from the beach. It is a bit away from the downtown area but just a quick drive or you can take the hotel complimentary shuttle, which runs until 8:45pm. They also have plenty of complimentary parking on site. Overall, good location, comfortable rooms with hot breakfast included, free parking, and attentive staff. They are pet friendly for an extra fee of about $125 per stay. I definitely would stay here again. I had a quiet night and a nice room. There were a few hiccups. Checking in the person stopped to answer phone and left me waiting instead of putting them on hold. When this happens it is really irksome. Then in my room, the sponge, dishwashing liquid and do not disturb sign were all missing. And my mobile key would not work. I had a let check out and was taking a shower when I heard someone banging on my door despite having the do not disturb on the door. I had forgotten to lock the door to prevent entry so it was startling. I went to the door and asked what they wanted. There was no response. I looked out to see a worker leaving. So I guess he planned to enter my room if I hadn't been there?!! Breakfast was disappointing especially since other people commented that it was good. I just grabbed coffee, which was wasn't very good. The bananas were overripe. And nothing else appealed to me. Certainly have seen better breakfast at a Marriott Residence Inn. read more

Arrival to Amelia Island was quick and easy. There is beautiful & warming entrance to the Marriott. Checking in was easy and I arrived at a perfect parking spot time. The room was spaced nicely. I was comfortable with the view because it gave me an upper hand on traffic. I enjoyed watching the people on riding scooters and just walking enjoying this beautiful island. I was particularly intrigued by the nature walk right off the parking lot. In case you are a city girl like me, seeing otters, alligator and turtles in their natural habitat. The hotel staff ( breakfast crew, clerks) provided great customer service. It is very beneficial that a shuttle is able to transport you to locations on the island. I was thankful for assistance of Arnold( shuttle driver) for restaurant recommendation and directions. I would advise you to find out the housekeeping schedule. Checked in on Wednesday and as of Saturday housekeeping had not serviced the room. Make sure you catch breakfast in the morning... delicious. We visited Oct. 12-15, to get away after being recluses. My partner and I are in our mid 60's and require rest and comfort. We have sleep apnea, and had requested two queen beds. I thought The Marriot ñame guaranteed excellence. We had our Westy with us so were placed in the pet area(more like the (dog house). The room was musty and unclean, layers of dust, the phone in outside area was crusted with dirt, the lamp layered with dust, the fridge drawer was missing, and the bed had a sway on each side. Everyone was polite, and set with platitudes, which one must understand is more insulting then stating the obvious, such as we are sorry. We could have moved but at our age that was wasted time and energy we didn't need to expend. They offered us 20% off two nights which was insulting. As if that was sufficient for our discomfort. We had to wipe down surfaces and get our own towels because they were never dropped off! The hot tub had bugs in water the pool was cold but otherwise fine. We usually stay at Hilton's. Thought we'd give Marriott a try. Never again. We left worse than we arrived, sinus problems and back pain. Soo disappointed. The Hampton Inn has cheaper suits in same area! read more

Having read about recent renovations, I must admit that I expected it to be a little nicer but, for two nights, it was fine. The room was clean enough. My pet peeve is finding other peoples' hair in the bathroom, which unfortunately I saw when we checked in. Otherwise, I had no issues with the room. The breakfast buffet was varied enough that there was plenty to choose from for the two mornings that I was there. The location, a short walk to the beach, was excellent. I stayed here during a holiday weekend and it was understandably busy but the staff was very friendly and patient. read more

I just wanted to take the time to compliment your staff in such a tough time for the hospitality industry. They were always happy, attentive, and visible. They made our stay so much better. The breakfast options were great. It's so nice to have a hot breakfast back. The kids absolutely loved the pool and the ice cream social. I think the housekeeping staff did an amazing job collecting used items and trash from the hallways in a timely manner. The front desk staff was so great and endured countless stories from my dad. The location was great. The hotel not so great. It was old worn looking and not very clean at all. The worst part was the bathroom sink bubbled up to a waterfall of water any time someone in another room used something like shower or toilet that needed to drain. It was nasty dirty water and we couldn't keep our stuff near or use bathroom sink for the 2 days we were there. It was a smelly older looking dirty Marriott property and we were very disappointed. Yes, this is where I want to stay. A very friendly check-in. A most beautiful property. The place looks better than the photos. Manicured grounds. Beautiful pool, an area with seating right next to the pool. Very nice parking with security walls on the sides and back. Mature palm trees. Air conditioning greets you once you enter the automatic sliding doors. A very well stocked beverage and snack area for purchasing favorites. Lobby is so clean and modern. Plenty of lobby seating. The room was even better. A suite with a king bed in a separate room, a nice bathroom with shower, a fully equipped kitchen with large fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker. For a longer stay, this is the place. Rental bicycles are available. Hot breakfast. About a .4 mile to beach on excellent sidewalks. Close drive to about anything you may need or plenty of restaurants. Bed is really comfortable. Sectional couch, table and plenty of kitchen counter space. I'm home. The room is spacious and the bed very comfortable. Also nice touches like citrus water in the entry and a bottle of water as you are leaving, along with a free shuttle into town during your stay. We came to the island for a marriage retreat over the weekend. We were welcomed by Sandra immediately upon entering the doors. She had our room keys, pamphlets, maps, etc all ready & waiting. We checked in on the mobile app prior to arrival which she thanked us for. Her soft voice & genuinely kind spirit was uplifting. We loved our beautiful & large suite. Full kitchen, living room, large bedroom & bathroom with wonderful lighting. Great view too! Breakfast was good. Hot food & excellent service! I didn't catch her name but the little elderly lady who served us was so joyful and you could tell that she enjoyed her work. I do wish that they offered real maple syrup instead of the fake syrup & more fresh fruit options would be nice. We will definitely stay at this location again and recommend to all our friends. The newly remodeled lobby is gorgeous & was nicely decorated for Christmas. We were given small trinkets to take home to our children. I genuinely have no complaints. The lobby bathrooms were being worked on over the weekend, so the staff graciously offered access to a suite on the 1st floor. Ample parking and only a short walk to the ocean. We walked to the moped rental shop and had a wonderful time riding around the island, checking out the fort and different shops. Amelia island adventure rental is who we rented from. We had a delicious lunch at Gilbert's Underground Kitchen which is only about 8 mins from the hotel. We can't wait to visit again and hope to see Sandra's smiling face! This is a very nice hotel about three blocks away from the ocean in the pretty coastal area of Fernadina Beach/Amelia Island. Arriving around 9:30 pm after attending a local wedding we were greeted with a large cooler of icy lemon/lime water in the clean and fresh smelling lobby. The check in was very quick and friendly. Our room was really chic and very clean. We had a kitchenette with new appliances, a living room with a comfortable sofa and television. The bedroom was inviting. Ours had a king size bed with crisp white linens for a very good nights sleep. There was a large flat screen television and adjustable recessed lighting. The shower was sleek and modern. The sink area was separate from the shower area and I liked that. There was a coffee maker on the marble kitchen counter top. Several bags of coffee and sweeteners/flavored creamers were offered. Also a bag of microwave popcorn was available. Nice touch. Adjacent to the lobby was a little gift shop. In addition to many snacks and drinks there was cute beach jewelry and souvenirs. The pool and hot tub area was nice. Between the comfortable lobby area and the outdoor pool was a courtyard. When we arrived late evening they had a fireplace lit in the courtyard and lots of patrons were out enjoying that. Check in time was four o'clock. This is a little late for me. I called ahead to see if there was any chance of an earlier check in and was told it would depend on availability but if we arrived early they would gladly hold our luggage in the lobby. Check out time is 11. Who ever wants to leave a really nice accommodation? Once we settled our things in the room we ventured out for a walk to the beach. It's not a bad walk, maybe 7 minutes and there is a restaurant with outdoor seating right on the beach. Saturday night when we sauntered over there was a live band playing. They close at 11 so don't dilly dally! Also close by on the beach side are plenty of surf shops, a Dairy Queen and a beach entrance with 4x4 driving accessibility. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic. Lots of offerings...eggs, sausage, waffles and all the other goodies you can think of such as fruit, cereal and yogurt. The coffee was good. There is also a little putting green in the courtyard. Check out was a breeze. read more

They have music playing all day even though no one is by the pool area (cold outside) that i can hear loud and clear in my room. Not good if you're looking just to relax or sleep in. Our floor had broken ice machine that we asked about so we did not have to go to another floor. The staff could care less. Made no effort to get it fixed. What an awesome place to stay, Although the customer service at the front desk falls short, the room staff are awesome and helpful and polite the rooms very nice and modern. They had Nacho Night which was cool with wine. a great pool. The only issue was the front desk person when we checked in confirmed the wife's name and instead of Welcome to the Residence Inn was "Can I have your credit card for incidentals and charges." Later I called down for extra pillows from the Room phone and instead of Hello this is so and so how may I help you....She said her name and I said may I get 2 pillows to our Room, she said "YEP". You got it YEP! Seriously? It maybe the work force they have to choose from in Fernandina? Had it not been for front desk staff I would have given this place 5 stars. read more

Love this hotel and the staff. I had an issue with the first room and Robyn at the front desk was so sweet and apologetic. Immediately changed my room and was just so kind and sweet about the entire thing. My room, a king suite, was super clean, loved the big kitchen, and spacious. The pool is awesome, big, and easy to access with lots of good sun for tanning. A quick 8 min walk to the beach, or take the free courtesy shuttle to the beach. The free breakfast is actually really cool - tons of food options and healthy options too! Close to just about everything you'd need and awesome deal $$. Would highly recommend. read more

I am a Marriott fan. I travel a lot and try to stay loyal to the brand. That being said, this was an exceptional residence. They are all clean and organized, but this location went above and beyond in many ways. They were very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast was also very good. Many times the Residence breakfast is stale bagels and powder tasting eggs. This location had freshly made eggs and even had an omelette stand. I am not sure if they always do the omlettes. There was a big show I'm town, so they may have done a little extra. We will stay there again. read more

Restaurant food god breakfast and lunch very good. Dinner. It served here but go to the Weston down the street to the reserve the best on the island . Check-in was wonderful, staff is amazing, 1st room given was dirty. I was willing to get past the fridge & plates because I bleach everything down 1st myself BUT pulled the sheets back to spray them down & they were filled with pee stains.., this the bathroom, hair all on the floor of the shower.. Called front desk they UPGRADED US to ANOTHER DIRTY HANDICAPPED ROOM. Checked out, went next door the the Hilton. Staff is great, rooms are dirty. read more

The Residence Inn is a really nice place to stay. The value is great, breakfast every morning, a kitchen and a living room in every room. My husband wanted to give it three stars but I won. We did agree the bed was uncomfortable. I liked that it was only a few blocks off the beach. The staff was very friendly. The Wi-Fi is free too. They offer a BBQ and some other event during the week. Our maid service wasn't that great even though we tipped her. Okay, I guess 3.5 would be my final rating. Oh yeah, the 4 star rating returns because the hotel is adjacent to the most wonderful nature trail. We are runners and we ran it every day! My fiancé (at the time) and I selected the Residence Inn for our honeymoon hotel and booked it via priceline.com. It had really good reviews and was a newer hotel so it seemed very ideal. We got a great rate (it pays to go during the off-season) on a king size studio suite which had a kitchen, a small table to eat at and a small living area. It was perfect since we were staying a week and we didn't want to feel cramped in the room. Before I start with some of the positives, the only negative I had was that the Wi-fi didn't really work in our room. It worked great in the lobby and though we weren't on our phones a lot, if we were trying to look up a restaurant or something about the island, it was difficult in our room. Some of the perks of the hotel was that it had a pool and a hot tub which was never really busy. There was a workout room which looked great but we didn't use. They had a great outdoor patio area with a fire pit and a grill that the guests could use. They offer rent bicycle rentals for $15 a person for an entire day right from the hotel. It's also right off a nature path which we rode when we rented bikes for the day. The complimentary shuttle was great because we opted not to get a car that week so having that at our disposal when we didn't want to walk was perfect. All of the staff was super nice and accommodating and we are already looking forward to going back. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. read more

I called the hotel a few days prior to arrival for some information and while waiting for a staff member, the recording said something along the lines of "Residence Inn, where we take care of you." Did they ever! It's a Residence Inn, not a Ritz. Being a Marriott Rewards Platinum Member, they offered a room upgrade at check in, poured 2 glasses of champagne during the arrival process, gave us locally made white chocolate fudge/bottled water and told us to take something from the market. Nice perks along with the free parking, free breakfast, free wifi and a ridiculously clean hotel. The room was a nice, 2 room suite with full kitchen, 2 tv's, pull out couch. Highly recommended for a stay on Amelia Island. It's off the beach, but only takes a minute to walk to the corner. read more

I would give 5 stars for hospitality and staff friendliness. Everyone was wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was very good and had a lot of variety. The staff kept the breakfast area and tables cleaned at all times. The location is good and near a trail for bike riding and the beach is walking distance. Another positive is the air conditioner was quiet and didn't wake me up when it came on. The hotel is in need of renovations which is the reason for 3 stars. The beds were not very comfortable and the showers were dated, dirty and have low water flow. The bathroom shower and toilet area were so tight it's tough to shut the door. Interior painting definitely needed. It was nice to be able to rent bikes but they were old, with rusted chains and could use a cleaning and tune-up. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the hotel. I had problems with the air in my room and they sent Mike immediately. Then when it didn't work they moved me too an upgraded room without me having to argue with them. The pool was very clean and there were always seats and chairs. Breakfast is the standard gate for a residents inn but the lady who cleans the table was super sweet and helpful. The rooms are spacious and having the kitchen is a plus. Some noise from neighbors but nothing I haven't heard in other hotels. read more

Ok whatever happened to good customer service? I would like to be able to say I had an excellent stay as some others have had here, but mine was far from pleasant. Me and some family came in 2015, we found that the hotel was overbooked with them attempting to accommodate a huge family reunion. This hotel is not set up in my opinion to handle huge groups like this. This party was so big that they utilized almost every aspect of the hotel, from the pool area to the courtyard including all seating and both barbecue grills. Also each morning they overcrowded the dining area and the staff was just not equipped to handle a group of this size. We had bike rentals and there was some confusion with that as well. What made this even more disappointing was that guests were complaining about all the confusion and management didn't seem to be equipped to solve the complaints. At our request they did however give a discount and offer a complementary two night stay, unfortunately when I called to take advantage of that, it appears that I waited to long. Apparently there was a time limit associated with it. It would have been nice if we were informed of that. The manager Mr. Hartman wanted instead to offer twenty percent as oppose to the two nights. So unprofessional!! Now I know why the staff is so unorganized.. We won't be back.. read more
