I didn't like any of the samples I tried, so he gave me a few more options, including a frozen slushy that tasted like pine and finally a way too sweet sangria. He tried his best and was very helpful, but I just was not a fan of anything I tried. I've been to a number of wineries in VA, and while I haven't always liked everything I've tried, this was the first winery where I did not like anything.

I do with there were a better offering of snacks/food available inside. But, there has always been a food truck available with hot food offerings. As for activities I have been there once for an even Rusted Rabbit has hosted. While there I was able to sample/purchase some wine to try. The event was nice and very well thought out. We were located upstairs which has a balcony that over looks the back of the property. My friends have raved about their wines and even sangria. There has been people there singing and a band once. So it was nice to have some entertainment. I enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. We even sat down below the exterior where it was quieter. The staff have always been accommodating, knowledgeable on their product and kind. The grounds has always been well put together and clean. There is defintly attention to detail throughout the property.

Even the ride there set the tone it was scenic & peaceful, and full of wide-open fields that felt like a refreshing change. The wine selection was impressive, and I loved getting to explore different flavors. I figured out which wines I enjoy most, which ones aren't for me, and felt like I had a truly immersive first-time tasting experience. The staff at Summer Wind were amazing knowledgeable, friendly, and patient in answering my questions. Although I didn't get to order food this time, I saw plates coming out of the kitchen that looked absolutely delicious, so that's definitely on my list for next visit. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of areas to relax and picnic. There were lots of people out enjoying the good weather but it never felt crowded. It's a little confusing trying to figure out what things require a ticket/paid admission. On the map they provide, there's no indication that a ticket is needed for the mansion, but one is in fact required. However you have to buy a ticket at the Stone Barn by the entrance. You can try buying on the website but I didn't have great signal. Instead I backtracked to the Stone Barn to get a ticket but the prices were higher than what I was told at the Mansion and they appeared to be limited to timed entry and all the time slots were sold out. Long story short, I didn't see the inside of the mansion, but still spent a good couple hours exploring the outdoor areas. Which was all free so I count that as a win.
