The waterpark has three…read morepools with water slides, hot tubs, basketball nets, splash pad, and lots of games for the kids. A perk of staying overnight or having a seasonal site is that you can get in line for a nine am open to get a table or loungers by the pool but don't leave your stuff unattended for more than 20 minutes or you may lose your spot (per the rules). For adults on a Friday night you can typically enjoy a live band and dancing at the tiki bar and/or soak in the hottubs and on most Saturday nights the band is at the main stage where you can dance barefoot in the sand under the stars, sit with friends at a picnic table, or enjoy the massive bonfire at the back. There are movie nights for the kids, killer fireworks for Canada Day, Santa visits for Christmas in July, kids go around to seasonal sites for trick or treating in August, golf tournament fundraisers, and I'm sure more that I've forgotten. Note, the unfair negative reviews prompted me to leave this. Clearly this is a park for fun and excitement so complaining about otherwise is lame because you didn't do your research. And as an attractive single woman that frequents the pool, I have never experienced a group of learing men or swingers in the five years I've frequented Lilac Resort.

The entertainment is incredible, always something happening at the pool Stage/tiki bar/main stage. My family has made so many incredible memories here throughout the years and we are always looking forward to our next stay. The resort let's you bring in your own food into the pool area (no franchise food) and your own alcohol. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the event weekends (Halloween in August, Christmas in July etc) are phenomenal. Staff is friendly and the owners are very easy to talk to. Lilac resort used to have mini golf, and I think they should bring it back!... Yes, I am that old! Just saying in regards to the review mentioning "swingers" that is nonsense, I've been a loyal guest since I was a kid and never seen anything remotely close to a "swingers" hub . Lilac is an excellent family vacation destination. Definitely check it out! You gotta book fast though, usually a year in advance for certain weekends.

My son (age 46) and I (age 75) visited Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge for the second time this past…read moreweek. This is my 33rd fishing trip to Manitoba and 18th lodge visited. We were the first group in for this season. Other than being very cold and rainy it was a great trip. Nothing has changed since our first visit in 2019. In my opinion this is the best overall lodge in Manitoba. There are so many different ways that this lodge is superior to others but let me try and highlight a few. Let's start with the booking process. Pit, the owner and General Manager, appears to sit at his computer 24 hours a day. When you contact him, you get an almost immediate response. His communication is clear and to the point. When you book you get a provisional slot hold until you make your deposit. You can send in a check or use a credit card. Once you book his wife, Julie, takes over and contacts you about any special requests you may have. If you have any special dietary requests, booze orders or the like she makes sure it happens. Next are the lodge facilities. The cabins are immaculate and appear brand new. Ours had two bedrooms each with a mini split heater and AC and a living room with a fireplace. There was also a screened in porch. A short walk to the main lodge itself which houses the dining room and "Big Mollys Bar". The bar is unusual in that it includes a happy hour before dinner where the drinks are free. At most lodges I have fished the groups tend to keep to themselves. One impact of the happy hour is that most groups become very friendly. Secret spots and lures are shared freely and you make new friends. We have already made contact we people we met at the lodge and are making plans to met again next year. On to the food. Most lodges have a fixed breakfast. At Aikens you can order whatever you want for breakfast. I had asked Julie to have some hot peppers for my omelet and they sure were hot! The shore lunches were also unique. The lodge has prepared several sites throughout the lake with picnic benches, metal roofing to protect from the rain, propane cook tops and chopped wood for the open firs. This not only keeps you dry and comfortable but dramatically reduced the food preparation and cooking time. The lunches themselves are not just the old fried fish but included different variety of batters and baked fish. Dinner at the lodge was also special every night. Julie cooked for us a few nights and she is the best chef in Canada. One night we had a pork chop that must have been 2 inched thick but was still moist and tender. Steak night riveled any steak house in Winnipeg, The staff were also exceptional. Pit, Julie and Patrick are all co-owners and unlike many other lodges are on site. This ensures that if any issues arise, they are dealt with quickly and properly, They have hired a great group of young ladies to work the dining room and cabins. They are friendly and hard working. The guides are also good. They tend to hire young men in college who work there for4 to 6 years so you always have an experienced guide who knows the lake in your group. The newer ones receive formal training from Pit and Pat and also learn from the more experienced guides. The fishing is also good. The boats are newer 18-foot Lunds powered by 60HP Yamaha motors. They have very comfortable cushioned chairs, depth finders, live wells and trolling motors. Most lodges have. 16-foot boats and 20 or 30HP engines, benches and no electronics You can really cover a lot of ground quickly with these 60 HP motors! It was very cold (low 40's) and rainy during our trip which impacted the fishing. However we still managed to catch several pike on the low 40s and had an afternoon during which we caught walleye over 22 inches for 3 hours straight. I made the "century club" by catching 4 walleyes totaling over 100 inches in the same day. We can't wait to return next year!

I can't say it enough times, all the staff at Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge are exceptional!

Bonus points that you can reach the next door Elephant and Castle pub without going back outside. Lobby Starbucks had an actual barista but not breakfast food. Wifi works well. But closet is tiny. There's no safe. Toilet paper is sandpaper. Toilet itself had flushing issues. Gym is tiny without many machines. Smells of chlorine from the pool next door. I appreciate the electric tea kettle in the room. Club on 12th floor is solid - I like there is attendant there for breakfast. Breakfast is decent: pancakes, croissant, scrambled eggs, sausage links. During the day that are soft drinks, chips and cookies. Again always very clean. Friendly service all around & and Elephant and Castle in the same building. I am a fan!!

They brought me hot water and an assortment of tea. Thank you!! ( and no charge) Some unpleasant things We found the bed very soft ( and prefer firm bed). They have some rooms with firmer tempurpedic mattresses, but they are above and below an event space that had events planned during our stay and the staff said people report they hear the party When a room opened up after parties were done they did not remember to give to us, though they said they would When we returned for 1 night, they DID assign us a room with a better mattress (219), though it was not tempurpedic. It was more firm. We are in an adjoining room (338) and the person next door is showering and blowing their nose nonstop. It's like I'm right in the shower with him. Other guests also complained about hearing entire conversations from the rooms next door. Excellent location as it's a quick walk to The Forks for food and entertainment, plus the river walk area for running, skating, walking or biking.

It's clear that the current owner has tried to update the place to look more like a Motel 6 than what this beautiful building should be. Cheap renovations and tacky Target bargain furniture and light fixtures have stripped this place of its charm and history. All of the beautiful wood in the unit is painted white now and the hallways are a horrible and depressing dark grey. The furniture is cheap and over sized for the rooms. Room 619 had a bed so tall we had to ask to switch rooms. The front desk suggested they bring us a step ladder instead. Seriously?! We finally switched to 808 which had two regular sized beds that were a normal height and we didn't have to be watched as we went to the bathroom. Not sure why washrooms that face other units don't have window coverings! There are absolutely no amenities in the rooms. No fridge. An $8 plastic bottle of water. A Nespresso with coffee only. You have to ask for tea if you want it. Toiletries in the bathroom need revisiting. They're the same ones from 2010 from L'Occitane; tired, dated and horribly scented. More hotels have switched to more sustainable and options but here, you will still get a shoe mitt and shower cap. One bonus was two robes in each room. There is a small gym but no access to a pool. You can pay $12 next door. Apparently yoga is included, but no one told us about that upon check in for our weeklong stay. The wifi didn't work after the first night and staff weren't overly helpful about it. At $252 a night, this is not what we were expecting. Had we known how downhill this place has gone, we'd have opted for the Holiday Inn. Parking is $22 a night and the front entrance is permanently occupied by crowds of smokers. It's absolutely disgusting. This place is for sale so we really hope that the new buyer will help bring this beauty back from the depths of sadness.

On my last stay the hotel was fully booked and there were some issues with noise which kept me up really late at night. The staff on duty tried to help, but at the time couldn't identify the issues and with a fully booked hotel, I was stuck with lack of sleep for two nights. Although they couldn't help in the moment, the manager called today, apologized and talked me through the situation. Not only was I not expecting a call, but to speak with someone that listened, showed empathy, truly cared and asked how they could make it right... That's the kind of hotel you want to stay at. Of you have a choice of where you can stay. You can't go wrong here.

The downside is that there are foreign transation fees which can add up. Homewood Suites was not able to honor my Discover card reservation even though Hilton website allowed me to use without assessing any foreign fee. The previous Hilton hotel which was the newly opened Hampton Inn Winnipeg Airport was able to call into corporate to do a manual Discover card charge. So, I tried this approach but it could be that Homewood Suites was just too new in the system. Oh well, I can't complain since my girlfriend found the decor interesting even though Hampton Inn was her preferred choice. This extended stay hotel had a nice room layout with 1 bedroom, living room, and full kitchen. The bathroom was a bit cramped since the door had little clearance with the toilet sticking out. The bed was fine but I preferred Hampton Inn for some reason. I found it a bit lumpier here and my back noticed it. The breakfast was actually much better than Hampton Inn with scrambled eggs and sausage. I found Hampton Inn to have the processed egg with a slice of cheese folded inside not as appetizing. For the amenities, I found it much better than Hampton Inn. There was a large sized pool which was much better to swim in compared to Hampton Inn. Also, there was a pool table to play billiards which was nice just in the back of the breakfast/dinner sitting area. The exercise room was really nice and found it very similar to Hampton Inn. This hotel also had a shuttle bus to transport to airport was well as nearby Polo Park mall. In my opinion, this location is much preferred over Hampton Inn being only at the airport. Polo Park had so much to choose from in terms of dining/shopping/etc.
