We (3 of us) ventured into the square to see "Syrenka", the symbol of Warsaw, and all of a sudden we all felt a bit peckish. Looking around, U Fukiera stood out. It had once received a Michelin star, had beautiful entrance clad with seasonal flowers, and a reasonable menu. We sat inside, but outside in a small courtyard. Lovely. All tables had crisp white table cloths and cloth napkins. The table settings were lovely inside. Our waiter was friendly, chill, and knew how to recommend the menu. We ordered starters and drinks. The starters are substantial - like, a whole meal substantial. 3 starters filled us up to the rim, and I did not even have the pierogi (not GF). The herring was very good. The chanterelles in sauce were delicious - in season right now, and very well prepared. Drinks were good. Music was horrible. Please consider something TOTALLY different. Good for groups, romantic dates, and in-between snacks alike.

So so good. We split the duck done to perfection. Crispy skin and enough. The ambience is just delightful all around. Such a sweet and accommodating waiter(who was also a tennis pro) staff and service. We got lucky to see the owner who sat beside us and apparently is a little more than famous in Poland for cleaning up the restaurant industry. Like Gordon Ramsey. Just marvelous. Yum

The food at this place is delicious! Prob the best veal cutlet I've ever had in my life. The potatoes were so crispy and buttery as well, and the mizeria salad was very refreshing. Friendly staff, great bread and dip for the table. Old school ambiance and a lovely dinner.. would recommend to go here to try some local cuisine! PS. Portions are insane! One main dish is more than enough for two people..

U Fukiera is located right on the main market square of Warsaw's Old Town, a playground for tourists. Usually, a restaurant like this wouldn't be high on my list of places to visit, but I must say.. the atmosphere of U Fukiera is by far the most beautiful of any restaurant I've ever visited so far! The romantic setting is decked with candles, antiques, mirrors, chandeliers, tablecloths--I even saw a parrot sitting in a cage! And despite this place being a "splurge" by Polish standards, it's still an absolute steal for Western European or American standards! After starting with some bread and extremely airy, whipped butter, we moved right into our main courses. I had the whole trout, which had been marinated in a dill cucumber brine, stuffed with pickles, and baked in pastry. It was served with two baked potatoes on the side, and though the fish was quite bony, it made for a delicious seafood option. We also got the half duck roasted Polish style--this was a HUGE portion that was more than enough to share--the duck was extremely tender and flavorful, and on the bottom sat a thick gravy that added a lot of flavor to the already meaty, flavorful poultry. In the bowl also came a baked Antonov apple, which had been cored and stuffed with a jam-like filling; there were also three pieces of what tasted like fried gnocchi--chewy dumplings made from potato! Yes, the food here was definitely good, but if for nothing else, come see the romantic setting that U Fukiera has to offer--order right, and you won't even have to walk away with a "splurge" restaurant bill!

Located in old town of Warsaw, walkable from our hotel, this place is highly recommended for it is very approachable for Americans. Apparently lots of Americans have visited here which is a plus because we wanted something that the kids will enjoy. I have been effectively on the road for months, traveling south and north of China, and then Cambodia before hitting the plane to Warsaw, I was a bit delirious at this point so imagine my surprise when they presented me with a menu that rocked my world. It has all sorts of "weird" dishes. For instance, tripe soup. fried kidneys. varies meat dumplings. local beef tartare. Imagine that I'm in food heaven. This restaurant hits the spot. I had the local beef tartare which is simply divine. The tripe soup is somewhat similar to the ones I had in Swabia, Germany. Stuttgart has a version of it which is amazing and this is similar which I was happy about. Finally the fried kidney is the best I've ever had. The kids had lots of fish and dumplings. I had so much dumplings that I couldn't finish and I had to take some home. We sat at the courtyard which was lovely. I loved everything about this restaurant and would recommend others to check it out when in Warsaw. Very inexpensive for Americans.

Stroke of pure luck. This restaurant was advertised in the Lot Airlines magazine and located close to our hotel. One of the best meals in 30 odd years of travel. The food, wine and the after-dinner cognac were first rate. The atmosphere changes from room to room. We were seated in the red room. It was fabulous. Service was excellent. A dinner for three with starters and a great bottle of red was less than an average meal stateside. But the food..... DAMN! The Polish steak tartare is not to be missed. The lamb chops were PERFECT. The goulash was amazing. A great dining experience. Not to be missed when in town.

Beautiful place. I liked the atmosphere but have to say that most of us ordered fish and non meat dishes and they were just ok. My son ordered the duck and he loved it. I would come for the history and atmosphere

    Lithuanian dumplings.... Yum!

I read mixed reviews on Fukier. I had made reservations months before visiting Poland, and I actually considered canceling our reservations after reading some negative reviews on google maps and trip advisor. I'm glad I did not. Great food and great service. Additionally, prices are not high. They may be high for Poland, but they are very reasonable for a large city (we live near Tokyo). Our entire meal, (3 people), a bottle of wine and appetizer cost us less than $200 (equivalent). The Lithuanian dumpling appetizer was delicious! (Try with the butter). Our entrees consisted of the breaded veal fillet, lamb chops, and duck breast. All were perfect and delicious. Our server was very attentive. The decor was interesting. And the Old Town is right out the door. I say, "go!"

CHARMING!! The only thing that comes to mind about this place. It is located in the middle of the touristic squares in old town. The dark and antique decor alone draws you in. I personally panic in cluttered environments, but this place was just too adorable. The food was surprisingly good as well. The pierogi were the best we've had in Poland this far. The lamb chops were tasty, but the stand out of the night were the lobster crepes on the savory side and the hazelnut waltz cake. Made for a very enjoyable experience

U Fukiera is a fancy restaurant on the Main Square in the Old Town. It's run by a celebrity restaurateur. As can be expected, it's rather pricey--not insanely so though. The food is old-school Polish: meat, fish, and games in large quantity. I had the pork cutlet. In the menu it was described as "monstrous". And indeed it was. I don't know from what mutant hog they cut out such a huge chunk of meat. While the quality of the food is beyond reproach, I can't say that I enjoyed the atmosphere here. The decor of U Fukiera is comically gaudy. Baroque might be the word I'm looking for. It feels like the residency of some old hag jilted at the altar. Likewise, the wait staff exhibits the sternness of an eccentric spinster's butler. It all felt a bit odd to me. Very "Old Europe".

    Sour soup with white sausage

Very traditional Polish restaurant - makes you feel like your visiting grandma for dinner: lace, fake flowers, bird cage (including bird), lots of wood, etc. A nice menu, albeit pricey. The herring was amazing served with pickled cucumbers. The house cured meats was very generous. The veal pierogis served with crispy pork rind were overstuffed, moist and tasty. The sour mushroom soup with white sausage was delicious! It's right on the main square in the center of old town, so very convenient and not at all touristy! Service was very dry, almost unfriendly (minus 1 star).

Based on some other reviews I was iffy about this place. First off, if you're some kind of business people that are used to a more generic environment when you eat you will not like the decor. If you have any appreciation for vintage and antique items, you're going to love it. The collection is wonderful and well staged. Next for food. I ordered the foie gras starter and the duck breast main course. Both where excellent. I order foie gras any time I see it on any menu, so I've had it prepared MANY different ways. This was in my top two. It's savory and sweet and the texture mix really did it. It's also the largest portion of meat I've ever been served. The duck breast was equally well prepared and delicious. The service was attentive without being annoying. Go here! Really, it's lovely.

The dim-lit ambiance, the dark wood accents and white tablecloth gives that formal yet cozy environment and with that, comes an exquisite menu that will leave you with a very pleasant and memorable experience. Reservations are highly recommended which I did have so check-in was a breeze. The waitress was very knowledgeable with the wine list and menu items which was extremely helpful when deciding among the various delicious sounding items on the menu. I heard that the Steak Tartare is a must here so I ordered that and to my delight, it's the best steak tartare I've had in all of Poland. It's prepared table-side from a very charismatic chef which added to the excitement and enjoyment of trying this tasty item. The Beef Wellington was also a delight. The buttery and slightly crisp puff pastry melts in your mouth along NG with the tender and juicy beef in which the demi-glace adds additional flavor to the already mouth-watering profile. Just pure gloriousness. The Bluefin Tuna was the final item I tried and the tender, fresh and scrumptious flavor of the tuna paired with the black truffle, avocado, artichoke and teriyaki sauce...so good. I unfortunately did not have enough room for dessert but wow I watched the items pass by me landing at other tables and I was so wanting to try one of them but not one single bite more of anything could've fit in my stomach. That's why there's always a next time :)

Our server was very nice, and the ambiance is great- white tablecloth and dim lighting really sets the tone. For our meal we had the beef Wellington, steak, pork rib, asparagus, fries, and mashed potatoes. All of which were delicious! The beef Wellington stood out as the favorite- it was beautifully prepared. My only comment on the meal is the avocado sauce under the ribs was surprisingly sweet, not my taste but the meat was tender and juicy. Overall, this has been the best meal we have had on our visit here to Warsaw. Highly recommend!
