The place was quickly filled with diners and the pleasant din of a nice restaurant in France. The menu was varied and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. I loved the classic touch of the server bringing us a large chalkboard with the day's specials written on it to help us decide. I sprung for the ceviche, followed by the chicken cordon bleu. This is the type of place where there is probably not a bad thing on the menu. My husband got the marrow appetizer and the 24 hour marinated pork breast entree. Kiddo got an amazing-looking meal with chicken, vegetables, and spätzle. Everything tasted fantastic! If you're thinking of coming here, don't hesitate to take the plunge. After driving through quaint villages and the gently rolling hills, we arrived at this friendly place for a good meal. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who showed us to our table and took our coats. Once seated, our drink orders were taken (when in Alsace, go with a white -- vine to table here and it doesn't disappoint), and we were quickly served. I decided on "Coq au Riesling" with a side of Gratin Dauphinois (coq au vin with au gratin potatoes to any English speakers). The kitchen was fast and service was attentive, and I was soon enjoying my meal. It was perfect! Tender chicken in a savory cream sauce with mushrooms, and a perfectly cooked potatoes with a crisp of cheese on top. I would definitely order this again! I was too full for my own dessert but got a few bites of crème brûlée that one of my fellow diners ordered. You won't be disappointed if you get it. On the left hand side is the Gourmet Tempel if you like, that's where we had our Christmas meal. They had 2 menues for choice: one with about 7 courses at EUR 48, the other one with 4 courses at EUR 32. We all had the 4 course menu, and it was delicious. Introduction with a little soup of fish, main course with wild pig filet, hand made small chocolate balls, mijam! The wines were local ones from Alsace, a fine Gewürztraminer, not to sweet, and the red wine good, but didn't try to take the attention away from the meal. The dessert deserves being mentioned explicitly: it was Apfelstrudel with Vanilla ice (now if you think that is not classy enough - go there and try it!). The plate was nicely decorated, and the piece of cake was really a large one. If you keep in mind that this was the last course half the piece could have done it, but they didn't go for the saving, they gave out pretty large pieces. The only thing needing to be mentioned is the service, which didn't really fit the place and teh ambition it has. No doubt, the 2 young girls did their best and didn't do much profoundly wrong, but they were missing the souvernity it needs in such a place, and one of them was even a bit unskilled. If would be the maitre there, I would defenitly give them clothing rules.. Anyway, all in all it is a great place!

That deserves its own stars :) This resto is 1 of 1 option on its road but the owners treat you as if you had many other options; the service is really friendly and quick. I had a tarte, which is the same thing as their pizza, and it was edible. Way too much cheese and not enough ham but after a long day on the road it was the friendly service that counted.

Their portions are closer to big US-style platefuls than in other French restaurants we've been to on this trip.
