Cute, quiet little outdoor courtyard restaurant located within a hotel serving vegan Filipino food. The patio is scattered with small tables and surrounded by the yellow walls of the hotel and lined by flower boxes. It's a really lovely atmosphere. We came for brunch and it was a perfect sunny spot. I did not expect to find vegan Filipino food in Vienna, so this was a great surprise! The menu has a "regular" version (with meat) of each dish and an accompanying vegan version - it's nice that they had this flexibility. We ordered Marvin's Seitan Bulgogi, vegetarian lumpia, and ube cheesecake. Wasn't too impressed by the seitan bulgogi or lumpia - it wasn't exceptional but still pretty good. Possible that we just didn't order the best items on the menu. The ube cheesecake was very tasty though! Overall, I'd come back for the novelty of having vegan Filipino food, the hope that the other dishes on the menu would be better, and the pure ambience of the restaurant. read more

OK FOOD, TERRIBLE SERVICE! My friend and I, both of us Filipinod, decided to come to this restaurant and was blown away by how unprofessional and rude the staff were. Side note: This sneaky restaurant would put "reserved" on tables that actually aren't. When we got there we were just standing and waiting for them to actually give us a table, and we ended up sitting in the lobby. Took them a good while to take our order. The food got there and it was OK, nothing special. Then, the female server's boyfriend and dog came and sat next to us. They started hardcore making out and she kept playing with the dog and did NOT even wash her hands, just proceeded to serve food to other customers. After we were done with our food, we waited 30 minutes until my friend finally got sick of waiting for the bill that he called the male server and asked for it. When he gave us the bill and we asked if we could pay by card, he asked for a tip and we said no. Why would you have the guts to ask for a tip if your service was incredibly slow, the female server was non-hygienic, and the male server was rude? So as soon as we paid, the server left and didn't even say thank you for dining with them. Just a tip: Do not go to this place. In the service industry, service is EVERYTHING. This review is for the wonderful Pinoy (Filipino) restaurant in the Hotel am Brillantengrund. The hotel itself looks like a cool small hotel to stay in but I go there for the restaurant. Instead of the usual hotel restaurants, the restaurant in this inn is a Pinoy cuisine eatery. Mama cooks in the kitchen and man can Mama cook! My very favorite Filipino dish is Bicol Express - a rice dish with chicken, anchovies, chili peppers, and coconut milk. The Bicol Express that Mama cooked in Brillantengrund is the best I have ever eaten. And of course the menu has all the favorites like Lumpia, Pancit, Adobo, Bisteca etc. Take a break from Schnitzel, sushi, and Italian food - this Pinoy restaurant should be crowded every night!
