I think we were the first to arrive for dinner around five. We quickly settled on the option for a "carte blanche" chef's choice (four courses plus extras for 50 Euro). That sort of dinner is my post-night-flight ideal: Something exciting to keep everyone up late enough to ward off jet-lag, gladly entrusting many of the decisions to someone more awake. They suggested it would be reasonable to split that for two between our family of three, given the kid's smaller appetite, that was definitely the correct call. The meal was phenomenal, every dish was a beautiful blending of textures and flavors. They cleverly paired the dishes for each course. Everything looked perfect, starting with the food, but the whole dining area was a lovely space, including the view into the open kitchen. Even the flower arrangements around the dining room were strikingly beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a beer from Utrecht's own Brouwerij Eleven to accompany my meal. Koenraad's selection of beer is smaller than their extensive wine list, but has a reasonable amount of variety. I didn't look at the wine list in detail, but the other parties present seemed pleased with their selections.

I ordered it with baked mushrooms and cheese and the whole thing blasted me into a parallel universe where everything tastes amazing. With a still water I paid ~$18 USD and I'd happily do it again. There's an enormous old-style chandelier in the center of the dining room, several large fireplaces and tarnished mirrors that provide a large visual space. The service is good, there's a bar inside and a coffee shop with WiFi through the next archway. A+, would eat again!

First of all, when walking in you are warmly greeted. I was waiting for a friend and so the women showed me the different seating areas to choose from. I love the variety! My favorite is the couch... It could be my living room... Filled with tea :) I mentioned the type of tea I typically enjoy and I was taking through the varieties they had that I might like. There's a wall of tea to explore! We got very educated on how it's premium and the different types. It's not just tea though... They have bites! Either low or no sugar treats that are delicious. I got the jam cookie. So perfect! The tea is the main event though, right? And it was so good. Mine had a taste of honey while my friend's was stronger. Just mention what you like and they will find something right for you. They can also add more water to the pot so you can get sometimes 3-5 pots from the one set of leaves! Also, you are served which I find lovely. I can't wait to go back and take my husband. It was so nice to escape the cold, hang out with a friend in a cosy shop, and have amazing tea.

On the lower ground floor, you'll find the dark yin space, including light teaware made of glass and porcelain. Upstairs you'll find the lighter yang space with dark tea pots on the floor. Add to all this the soft voices of the sweet owners who patiently tell you all about the origins of their loose tea leaves and you'll float to another world. To China where most of their tea comes from. Or to Taiwan where their fabulous Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea is born.
