This is definitely a locals place. I was definitely the only non Dutch speaker here. No English menus, not even the website. But being in a town with a hospitality school and a rec from one of said school's participants made me go for it. THey also have a nod from the Michelin guide if you care about such things, for solid cooking. It's not particularly Dutch in tradition, lot's of choices from all over Europe, very well executed.
I guess having been exposed to enough Danish, the Germanic rooted language crossover actually allowed me to somewhat read the menu without too much help. Now if I could just actually speak it! had hte scallops to start, the local steak and then a set of Dutch/Belgian and French cheeses. I got to talking to the wife who runs the front while her husband the chef is running the kitchen. The building was an old printing press from the earlier 1900s...it's a crazy beautiful space. It's obviously been modernized inside but everything around the core of the town is super historic and that adds to the charm of the area in general. Great local ingredients, solid cooking and a charming staff and environment. 4.3 stars read more
