Great experience here at the outdoor seating as we were walking around looking for a place to eat. Sat under the umbrellas watching the boats go by in the canal. Great location! We ordered the bread and butter which was great - bread was fresh and tasted really good with the butter spread on it. The crudite vegggies (carrots, cucumbers, endives, red peppers) were nice crisp crunchy and fresh tasted great with the red pepper hummus. And the veggie bitterballen were crispy on outside either a soft mushy filling on the inside. Service was friendly. We did have to ask for tap water instead of the bottled still water and they were totally fine with that. The hotel inside is really charming as I got to see some of it when using the restroom upstairs. There is also a cute library room inside. Seems like a very nice hotel. Overall great experience!

I was really excited to try this restaurant listed on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list, but it did not live up to the hype. The limited food menu was delicious (albeit with small portions and not very well timed), and the wine pairings were yummy; however, the aperitif drinks were not made well and service was underwhelming. The negroni was very basic, the dirty martini was made poorly, and the first champagne glass was served flat (little to no bubbles). Ambiance was a little stuffy and the wait staff made multiple errors (e.g. giving drinks to the wrong people and confusing the tasting menu), which they were quick to correct, but I expected more from such a highly regarded establishment. Overall, not worth the cost and I would not recommend.

Food was delicious! Fish, duck, chicken and steak were perfectly cooked. Server recommended a beautiful wine which didn't break the bank. Ambience was modern and casual. Great first night in Amsterdam!

Bavette, which was amazing and perfectly cooked (rare)

This place is stunning in its food offering. We began the evening with the perfect Bordeaux, after which we moved on to a delicious (and vegetarian - important for my fiancée) French onion soup. Delicious. Then, I had Bavette, which was immaculately tender and cooked perfectly rare (I'm certain by sous vide), and my fiancée had the pumpkin ravioli. Exquisite, all of it. The service was phenomenal, and we felt welcomed immediately. This place is part of a hotel, but you wouldn't realize it from the inside - don't let that deter you if you happen to be walking by!

The worst steak in Amsterdam. Beef looks nice but taste like chewing gum. Very disappointingNever come back again

5 star service in beautiful surroundings...would not think as much from the outside but a hidden gem inside..

The wine pairings were fantastic. We ended with a tasty Moscato.

A quiet spot with a small but good menu. The library is very cool and has a great ambiance. It is not a lively spot, but the food is good.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

I've always felt that whatever food you put on a plate should taste good together sausage with the mustard with the meat and the gravy and the mashed potatoes just seem disjointed to me. With that sad, I ate every drop of it and enjoyed it so maybe I learned something from this meal. ‍ My son took the alternative approach and ordered a meal with Indonesian flavors; chicken with peanut sauce was the main entrée and it came with french fries.
