The Rosti did not disappoint. Full disclaimer: Rosti can be a bit heavy with the cooking process that can include butter along with some bacon. Yes, the Rosti had the expected greasy texture, but just enough to make it savory without overpowering the various ingredients. I would recommend this restaurant if you are interested in trying the traditional Rosti dish in several varieties.

They definitely have it down! There was a line of waitresses (only women waiters work there) they were allocated per group in line and walked you to your seat. There is no menu - everyone gets the same thing your only choice is what you get to drink and if you want your steak rare, medium, or well-done. When the plate of food came out, my husband and I thought it was a small portion and then realized they they give you another helping after you finish the first one. The sauce is very unique and flavorful but, I am not sure I would agree on the food being worth the price. It was a unique place to experience while on vacation but, I won't go out of your way to go there.

My venison was lovely as were the accompanying sides. There was a wide variety of side dishes in small portions and I appreciated that. Since this place only had 3 French reviews, I wanted to write a comprehensive English one for non-French speakers so they can also enjoy this gem. Located in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois by the France/Switzerland border on the France side, La Table a Raclette specializes in fondues. Their options include raclette, reblonchonade, savoie, suisse, etc. For non dairy options, there are many meat items like hamburger, tartare, steak, salmon and escargot. Prices are also very reasonable (much cheaper than Geneva less than 15 minutes away). Our total was less than 50 euros despite ordering way too much food and drinks: ***decent wine list. We got local savoie wine and champagne for only 3-4 euros per glass! ***fondue savoie - I chose this one since it does not require a minimum of 2 people. A generous amount of 3 cheeses (comte, beaufort, gruyere), 7 huge fingerling potatoes, and a large basket of baguette pieces. Needless and sad to say, I only ate a third of my food. If you do not have a large appetite, this fondue is enough for 2 to eat. ***steak (entrecôte on the menu) with French fries, garlic green beans - there are 2 size options (300g, 500g). I think the 300g one is equivalent to about 10oz which I personally find enough to eat. Their medium rare is a true steakhouse medium rare with pink in the middle ***like typical French restaurants, you start with a basket of sliced baguette ***we also had small salads which were very necessary amongst the heap of bread, potatoes, cheese and meats All of our servers were very friendly but we only spoke French to them so I am not sure about their English speaking abilities. If you do not have dietary restrictions or many questions, knowing minimal French should be fine to order a great meal though. The restaurant itself is a quaint chalet style with a great terrace. Renowned for serving authentic traditional Swiss cuisine there are hearty dishes on the menu .I found the quality lived up to its reputation for the cheese fondue which was Gruyère and Vacherin cheeses with some kind of wine. Pair it with l the onion soup. Both were delicious. I recommend visiting one of the best in Geneva. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic and service was good.

I was walking around and stumbled by accident across Restaurant Les Armures. This restaurant welcomes everyone with open arms and staff is more than willing to help you navigate through their Swiss Menu. I walked in around, 17:30 (5:30pm), during their busy time and I asked if they had any open tables available for one person. The manager was so kind and graciously let me dine here. He did say, "As long as you can dine in an hour and a half, you should be fine. We do have reservations set past 19:00 (7:30pm)." I accepted his offer, "I appreciate it, I don't need but an hour." The atmosphere is very historic, dating back to 17th century. Here you will enjoy exquisite dishes and wonderful Swiss hospitality. The staff is more than happy give you great recommendations and help translate menu. They offer great choices on their menu. I wanted something completely local. I settled on, "Féra fumée du Léman" - Smoked Geneva Lake White Fish. My waiter also recommended something on the sweet side for dessert, " Mousse au chocolat suisse et Ovomaltine." - Swiss Chocolate Mousse with Ovomaltine. Every dish was delicious and worth the price. Next time you're visiting Geneva, stop by here and enjoy great hospitality and cuisine.
