I work in Rolle and I enjoy going to the cap Breton at lunch time to have seafood. Specially their seafood soups is delicious.

Hostellerie du Château - Top floor duplex suite. Roof is so low; you'll hit your head constantly if you're over 5 feet tall. Spiral staircase in center.

Phillip went out if his way to make sure our stay was comfortable. The first night here I had jet lag pretty bad from our 11 hour trip. Instead of having dinner with my business associates, I went to rest. Phillip said he would make me dinner anytime I woke up, no matter the time. I got up at 10 pm and he made me dinner and dessert. I'll be back for sure.

Just a generally horrible experience overall. This is the only real hotel in the town of Rolle and…read moreit's very nice from the outside and I'm sure it can be pleasant in the winter and spring months, but it was unbearably hot during a heat wave last month (June 2026) and it has absolutely no air conditioning. My friend and I rented the most expensive room in the hotel which consisted of the two top floors and it was unbearably hot, with no ventilating windows as they all faced up on the ceiling! Heat rises and being in the top floor made it even worse. The hotel provided one fan and some sort of portable cooling device, but it didn't work. The duplex room's design is also bizarre. Because it's a traditional slanted roof, some parts of the rooms interior were only 3 feet high near the closets, and it was impossible not to knock your head against the roof walking around. It also had a peculiar and awkward circular staircase that led to the bathroom downstairs. The bathroom was quite fabulous with a gigantic Jacuzzi bathtub and dual sinks, but was almost unusable because of the layout. The whole design of the room was extremely awkward. There was also a single bed underneath the second staircase that leads to the exit door. The stairs are narrow, vibrate and were difficult to navigate. I guess it would be convenient if you had six small children, but for two tall adults it was completely impossible to move around with the maze like design and ultra low ceilings. Maid service did not come and reception downstairs said we had put the "do not disturb" sign on the door, but we had not; in fact I didn't even see that there was a "do not disturb sign" in the room. We asked for a late checkout at 1PM which they said was fine. But when we tried to check out, they charged us over150 Swiss francs (that's nearly the price of a single room) saying that there were other people coming to book the duplex suite (on a Sunday night?) and I said we were not told there was a late check out fee or that the room would be occupied (I asked to see the other reservation and they declined to show it). I then went online and saw that the duplex suite room was still available online for booking that very day. So I don't think there was another guest booked for the duplex room. In the end the receptionist brought the late check out fee down to 50 Swiss francs, but it was still excessive and also with the incredible humidity and heat in the lobby it caused a lot of stress to me and my partner as we were having to argue about all the issues with the room. The reception basically has the attitude that everything is your fault. When I explained that the roof was incredibly low and I had bumped my head three times to the point that I had bled from my scalp she said "well you should've known that it was a low ceiling if it was on the top floor ". As well as that we should've known that there would be a charge for a late checkout, even though they didn't tell us. And we should've realized that the hotel had no air conditioning. Also, the breakfast is a complete joke in the morning so I don't recommend paying in advance for it. It's actually a shockingly poor breakfast for a hotel in Switzerland, with just some sliced bread, dry cereal, rolls, coffee and tea. Go next-door to one of the nice restaurants on the main street like Christian Bollat for a delicious breakfast. I have been going to Rolle for over 40 years as I went to boarding school there and return frequently for events. And unfortunately, this is the only hotel option in town. Next time I would rather just stay in a nearby town like Nyon or Gland as there are so many other nice hotels. I very rarely write a negative review but it was a terrible experience and the reception was extremely unapologetic and unsympathetic. My personal recommendation to guests is to stay here at your own risk.
