We ordered the Plat du jour for lunch, which came with an entree, the main course, desert and a glass of wine - for 9 euros! The salad was topped with the most amazing warm egg sauce. I've never had anything like it. The main course was braised beef and potatoes with a rich wine sauce. The food is simple, but outstanding, with fresh local ingredients. The service was friendly even though our French is minimal. We sat outside, in the shade, watching the canal go by. I would highly recommend La Restanque for the excellent food and value.

They offer a large selection of food, wine and drink items, as well as a Special menu (Menu du Jour). I picked the latter and I loved my duck leg quarter and the crispy hashbrown potato balls. Everything was cooked to perfection. You won't be disappointed. Nice staff, nice ambiance.

Beautiful setting with plenty of inside seats and outdoor tables in the serene park. I started with the tomato & cucumber salad with cheese. It tasted fresh and crisp but could have used some lemon zest and a dash of salt & pepper. Next, an appetizer of spicy beef balls. They and the tomato sauce they were in were obviously home made. They were good but not spicy. A lingering hint of black pepper. The "Bull Rib" sounded tempting so I chose that. It turned out to be a basic rib steak. Very tough and no flavor. No Salt or Pepper on the meat at all. The mushroom sauce on the steak itself was really good and the vegetables it was served with were also very nice. But in hindsight, I should have went with the Chicken.
