This review is only for My Canh's freshly pressed sugar cane juice. Firstly, I don't know here else in Montreal I could get freshly pressed sugar cane juice, so I was very excited to try theirs! It took 5-10 min before the order was ready, as I suppose the juice had to be processed upon request. The price was a bit steep (6.50$) given that most of the cup was filled with ice, but the flavor was really, really worth it. The juice was fragrant and refreshing, sweet with a slight citrus taste. If it was cheaper, I would get it every other day!
We visited Restaurant My Canh for the first time today. The service was very good and fast. The waitress and waiter were both friendly and spoke English very well. We ordered the fresh spring rolls, which were nice and fresh-tasting but perhaps had a few too many raw beansprouts in them. The dipping sauce was nice with lots of chopped peanuts on top. My husband and I both had pho. Mine was with rare beef and well-done beef and there was plenty of both. My husband's was the dac biet house special with rare beef, well-done beef, tendon, tripe and meatballs. His also had plenty of protein in it. The broth was delicious and the soup was served piping hot. There were lots of beansprouts, basil and lime served on the side. The prices were also very fair. We would both definitely recommend this spot!
After my first day of my workshop, I was hungry and ready for dinner. I went back to my hotel room to drop off my stuff, changed into a pair of shorts, put my hair up, and went out. The funny thing is that one of my colleagues from the workshop and I crossed paths moments later outside our hotel. I think he was shocked to see someone spot him in casual clothes and earbuds. As for me, I really don't look all that different in any setting. Anyway, I decided to give Chinatown a closer look and went back there for dinner. The first Vietnamese restaurant that I approached was My Canh. I looked at the menu. I saw pho. Perfect! I walked in. A man with tattoos on his arms greeted me. It was just me, so I got to choose any table for two by the wall. I chose number 14, as it's my lucky number. Hey, why not? I ordered the imperial rolls. I got the regular, meaning that there is pork in the two rolls. I also got a large bowl of pho, with rare beef and beef balls. I didn't wait long to get my food. Both the imperial rolls and pho came together. I took a chance and went with the former, which were piping hot! The imperial rolls were tasty. I liked the pork and vegetable filling. They were crunchy and yummy. My pho was delicious. The broth was flavourful and good. I got a decent number of beef balls that were cut in half. The rare beef was tender. The bean sprouts, mint, and squeeze of lime all went into my bowl of pho. It was so good! All my hunger pangs disappeared as I polished off my meal. I paid at the front counter with a credit card. All went well. Staff were friendly to me. I used the washroom. It was clean. There is a sign on the front door that says that you must be a customer to use it. I enjoyed my meal. I'd come back again to try more items off the menu. (313)
My mom and I had lunch here and it was pretty good. I had the medium sized Phnom Penh Noodle Soup (aka Hi Tieu Nam Vang) $11.50. My mom had the medium sized "Mi Lakay" with the broth on the side $12.50. My noodle soup had 2 shrimps, some slices of pork, a slice of pork liver, 2 slices of pork heart, some ground pork, 2 slices of Cha Lua (Vietnamese ham, usually found in Banh Mi), fried shallots, and some tiny dried shrimps, with rice noodle. I was disappointed that it didn't come with tapioca noodles, as this dish is supposed to, but the rice noodles were satisfactory. I usually hate organ meats, but these slices were really thin, and didn't look gross and all organ-like, lol, so ate them, haha. They were ok. The broth was really fragrant, a bit too oily for my tastes (probably from the fried shallots), but really flavourful. I would have liked to have some vegetables in this dish, even though that's not the tradition, but hey, they already broke tradition with not using tapioca noodles, so why not add some Nappa cabbage or Bok Choy, right? ;) My mom's "Mi Lakay" was wheat noodles (the same type used traditionally in wonton noodle soup), BBQ pork slices, 2 shrimps, ground pork, a shrimp cracker, fried shallots, green onions and a leaf of lettuce. Since she got her soup on the side (aka dry style), they mixed a sauce into the noodles. This sauce was a bit oily and a bit salty, as per my mom. Nonetheless, she enjoyed her meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Our waters were refilled frequently, like topped up as soon as our glasses dipped below half - what service! :) There was a slight issue with my meal initially, for some reason they put wheat noodles in my soup instead of rice noodles. I noticed this as soon as they brought my bowl and notified them immediately. They were very apologetic and brought me my correct order promptly. Our orders usually come with bean sprouts, chili peppers and lime on the side, but we didn't want the 2 former items, so we just got limes. The restaurant is a very casual eatery with a cutlery caddy and condiments at each table. It's not fancy eats, but it's pretty tasty! Street parking only, since it's in Chinatown.
Pooh and I came here for lunch today because we were craving soup and Pooh thought of this place. We started out with vegetarian spring rolls and I had Tonkinese soup with flank steak and Pooh had the Tonkinese soup with grilled chicken. Everything was great and as soon as you sit down they bring you complimentary hot tea. The place looks grungy but the food is phenomenal.
*home delivery review * This was so perfect for that stormy/cold rainy day. This is the most delicious, clean-tasting, authentic pho I've ever had in Montreal. I was already a loyal customer before, and will continue to be during Covid with their delivery. Generous portions with all the toppings. Fresh ingredients, authentic flavor... 10/10 for sure!
Almost four years ago, my friends and I ate here after I looked up the resto to celebrate one of our friend's bdays. Boy, was I not disappointed by the taste, quality, and price, and so were my friends. I had eaten practically everything offered on the menu at home or at other Viet restaurants except Mỹ Cảnh's Mì la cay. I haven't found it at any other Viet restos in or outside the island. Mì la cay can be ordered with the soup on top of or beside the noodles. I still remember eating it four years ago, and it did not disappoint two weeks ago. The xá xíu (char siu pork) went along so well with the noodles and fried shrimp fritter and dried onions, not to mention what devil's seasoning is in the sauce I asked my mom about it, and she told me that it has Chinese influences and that the recipe is kept secret-no wonder I can't find it on the internet! I guess I'll just stop by Mỹ Cảnh every time I crave mì la cay.
We two came for dinner. Passing by the window for hundreds of times, I finally decided to give it a try since I love vietnamien crepe. The crepe is 14$ what I think a bit higher than other places. The crepe was very crispy. I use the lettuce to wrap the crepe and mint. The taste was rich,crunchy and zesty with the sauce. Very tasty. Yummy... My husband had a beef pho. He thinks it's average. I also saw a group of seven girls ordered several General Tao chicken with rice. I bet that dish is pleasant too. Will come back to try other dishes.
We ordered bun rieu and bun oc. Both weren't too bad but it was the same broth, except one is with snails and one is with crab paste. Staff was very friendly.
Eating pho in Montréal is a must, so we went to Chinatown. Parking was difficult to find as it was New Year's Day, but eventually it was found and we went in since it wasn't as packed as other places. We were seated quickly, and after perusing the menu, ordered the large number 14 which is rare beef and well done beef pho for $16. The soups came out quickly, I'd also ordered extra noodles for $3 and we ordered pork imperial rolls (what egg rolls are called here), and pork chop, egg, and rice platter. As can be seen, the soup was plentiful, very hot, and the broth was delicious as it should be. Plenty of tasty beef, and the noodles were soft and sticky. I put in hoisin, and not hot sauce which I'm not so into. I also ate the fish cake from the platter, which I've never had before but was really soft, not too fishy, and melted in my mouth. Service is pretty fast, considering they're nice, elderly gentleman and a lady here, but they definitely have many years in this business. This is a no frills place so don't expect anything fancy. I come for the food, not the ambiance. This is a real gem in Montréal Chinatown
It's inevitable that my husband and I travel and seek out Vietnamese restaurants. There's so many styles and ways to make pho, and we are so interested to taste them all. The pho here was really delicious and I would really recommend this in the midst of Chinatown in Montreal! Would definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you're in a major need for a hangover cure = pho. Don't forget to add hoison sauce to your pho!
Had lunch at Pho MC in chinatown location. The spring roll (pork, shrimp and vermicelli wrapped in rice paper) were freshly made pair with tasty peanuts sauce. The imperial is great, filled with chicken and shrimp, it comes with the usual fish sauce dipping but I prefer to pair it with peanuts sauces. Their pho are okay, too much MSG though and it made me super thirsty but taste not bad. They will need to work on their service, one of the waiter was completely on a cloud. The pho arrive but not the usual plate of chop suey and lime. So I asked him if he can bring me one, he said yes but instead of bring it to me, he prefer to clean 4 tables before bringing it to me. No smile, no apologies, rude.
I really felt like a bowl of hot pho soup and decided to check this place out. The Phnom Penh soup that I ordered was ok. The broth was acceptable, and the shrimp were fresh, but it didn't strike me as especially tasty. I found the portion to be on the smaller side vs other Pho places that I've visited. The service was quick and warm.
I stopped here for lunch and even though, the place is known for their Pho, I felt like having some crispy fried noodles. I picked the crispy noodle dish with beef. After a few minutes, they brought me a complementary cup of vegetable and noodles soup. It was nice and refreshing. My dish came out shortly after and I was really surprised on how small it was. There were not many noodles and the beef pieces were just about 6-7. Not bad tasting, but for the price I paid CDN$26 (with tax) I thought it was a bit steep. read more
This is a Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal's Chinatown. The atmosphere is casual and prices are reasonable. Service was courteous and attentive. We ordered the following: 1. Menu item 40. Com Suon, Bi, Cha, Hot Ga ($18). Grilled pork chop, shredded roast pork, meat cake, egg served with rice and salad. 2. Menu extra. Le "Mi Lakay" ($15). Noodle Soup with beef, shrimp, and shrimp pancake. Comes with soup on the side and bean sprouts. 3. Jus de Canne a Sucre ($6.50). Sugarcane juice. Yes prices are higher. That $15 dish was only $12 in 2019; a 25% increase. The grilled pork and shredded roast pork were delicious. The Le "Mi Lakay" was quite interesting, especially with the shrimp pancake/cracker. There are wheat noodles, pork slices, 2 shrimps, etc. We ordered the soup on the side so we can would add the amount we wanted. The ingredients were customized by the restaurant so you won't find this exact dish in Vietnam. I've had fresh sugarcane juice in Asia. I loved their version which tasted better. I found out in Vietnam they typically add an extra fruit; this restaurant added cumquat. There are plenty of tables. The decorations are barebones. There is a bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance. There is an ATM near the entrance. They accept cash, credit, debit. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Had food two times here, affordable price, amazing broth and pork woupe! I will say the price of rice related dish is kind of expensive, but their medium size pho is other restaurants' large(almost) so choose pho and porridge would be a good idea. read more

I ate here after trying several of the Vietnamese / Chinese places in Montreal's Chinatown and found it to be a truly wonderful and authentic experience. The spring rolls are thick and the peanut sauce wasn't runny as other places will have. I orders the Bun Bo Hue which is a spicy beef noodle soup ( a must try alternative to pho) and found it to be authentic. Although it lacked the rau ram ( herbs) the broth was clean and just a bit weak on the spicy side. The meat was traditional bun bo meat with tendon and flank instead of the usual pho meats. Once small gripe was that they didn't turn on the air conditioning but so j was sweating like a fat girl on roller skates but it was still a wonderful meal. They also accept credit cards! read more

One of my favorite viet restaurants in Montreal. Aside from the normal pho and com dia, they also have a few other plates from southern Vietnam. The service is quick and the food is delicious. The price is also very reasonable. Every time I am in the city, I try to stop here. I would definitely recommend. read more

The restaurant has a very High quality/price rate. I had a lunch combo with a Soup and a chicken vermicelles dish. For 10$ I ate absolutely fantastic vietnamese food, tasty and full of various flavors! You can guess that it is very fresh. They serve Unlimited Jasmine Tea. The place is clean but very simple. The service is very nice, Quick and attentive to your needs. I ate by myself but had a nice table and the waiter even gave me a chair to put my bag on. Nothing wrong to say about this spot. It was almost full. I will definitely advise everyone to try it again and again! read more

A great place for pho! The pho is big portion and cheap and remember to order 炸油条 with it, it's a magical combination. Their rice is pricey and not so good compared to pho. read more

This place has some of the best Vietnamese food I've had, even compared to the places in Los Angeles. For $11, you can get a huge bowl of pho (size large) with a LOT of meat and noodles. The broth was really flavorful and the meat was tender. I ordered the rare beef and well done beef bowl and it didn't disappoint. Usually the amount of meat and noodles is disproportionate, but this time I found myself with meat to go with my noodles even at the end of the bowl. My only complaint would be that the broth in my brother's rare beef pho was rather oily. We also tried the bahn xeo, which was very good too. The shrimp had lot of flavor while the chicken did not, but in all was very good when paired with the vegetables and seasonings. read more
