Zwettlers Wirtshaus is an absolute must-visit in Salzburg! This was one of those meals where every…read morebite was packed with flavor, and we left genuinely impressed. We ordered the mushrooms in creamy sauce with dumplings, and they were amazing. The mushrooms were rich and savory, coated in a luscious creamy sauce that paired beautifully with the soft, pillowy dumplings. Comfort food at its absolute best! We also had their signature oxtail, and this was the real showstopper. The meat was incredibly tender, rich, and bursting with deep, savory flavor. Every bite was hearty and satisfying, and the sauce was perfect with the sides. We paired everything with a Kaiser Karm dark beer, which was fantastic--smooth, rich, and a great match for the meal. For dessert, we had their Sacher Torte, which was also really good and a lovely way to finish such a flavorful meal. Service was fantastic and impressively quick. They offer online reservations, but if you can't get one, don't hesitate to stop by. There's ample outdoor seating and limited indoor seating, so walk-ins are definitely worth trying. The atmosphere has a great traditional Salzburg vibe, and the location is super convenient right in the heart of the city. Fantastic food, great beer, excellent service--highly recommend stopping here when you're in Salzburg!

We went with the local favorites The Goulosh plater with dumplings and a Bratwurst to share each. Although I never drink beer, I opted to try thier local brew. The Goulosh was the right amount for lunch and a huge dumpling ball to go with it. the Bratwurst was good but no bread with it. more of a meal with potatos. The restaurant is known for serving traditional austrian dishes, some left in their original state but some have a refreshingly modern twist to them. First we were served an amuse-bouche which was very nice, as a main I had the grilled char which was exceptional and I enjoyed every bite. After we ordered dessert we were presented with yet another amuse-bouche (rucola ice cream with chili popcorn, awesome combo, really interesting) and to round it up I indulged in a choclate cake which was wonderfully soft and gooey on the inside served with rosemary ice cream and berries. To be honest I haven't had such a delicious meal in a very long time. Simply wonderful. Staff was very attentive and friendly, prices are definitely higher up there (23 euros for a main) but totally worth it if you have something to celebrate or are just in the mood for a classy dinner.
