    1/2 pizza/1/2 Caesar salad
    Deborah K.

This was our first visit to Restaurant Santa Lucia. We wandered in on a busy Saturday evening as the surrounding restaurants mostly had line-ups outside their doors. Santa Lucia only had one table filled, so we decided to give it a try. The interior is really dated, but looked very clean. There was the typical Italian music playing in the background and it had the ambiance of a 70s Italian restaurant. The tablecloths are plastic red-chequered. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. My husband and I asked if the pizzas were big enough to share, so she went and got a plate to show us the size. We decided to share a pizza and a Caesar salad, so she kindly offered to put half a pizza and half a salad on each of our plates. The pizza was really tasty, with a fairly thin crust (just as we like it) and plenty of toppings. We had the Amatriciana which had ham, bacon, onions, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. It was nice and crisp on the bottom and piping hot. The Caesar salad was fine. It was perfectly dressed and tasted great, by my one complaint was that the bacon bits were imitation. Other than that we had no complaints about the food. We would go back.

The Manicotti was the star of the show (right). Fettuccini Alfredo was good, and carafe of sangria. Plus garlic bread!

Really good food and solid service. A nice date spot on a busy weekend night. Big portions - Manicotti was star of the show.

The Italian food is probably the best that I've had in a long time. The custome service is great and you can tell the food was made with love. Try the sangria too. You will thank me later!

One of my go-to places for pasta and pizza. Their sauces are delicious and they have a variety to choose from. The price for main dishes vary from around 11-16$ which is relatively cheap for a place in downtown. However, their cakes are very disappointing so it's best to avoid them. The service is quick and the waitress is nice. The place has a cute italian decoration, but it looks outdated. The location is in the center of downtown so it's very convenient to go there.

I think they do a very credible job with all their dishes and they have been very consistent over the years. Located on Stanley street they are in the heart of downtown Montreal and within easy walking distance of most of the local hotels. The food comes out quickly from the kitchen or pizza oven; I have found the table service to be very good even when the restaurant has been busy. Santa Lucia represents a good dining value in the downtown area.

I was happy to randomly try this place after getting back to Montreal on the train. Location is near downtown and I just googled mapped near-by restaurants that were still open late. There are not a lot of pasta dish options, but I got exactly what I wanted. I ordered Penne Romanoff and tasted a bit of the Ravioli Basilicata. They were both tasty, the first one is with vodka sauce and the second one is stuffed with ricotta, tomato and spinach with a pesto sauce. If I have a vodka sauce craving I might come back for it! Staff was also super friendly and the resto had a homey welcoming feel with dimmed lights.

    Hawaiian pizza!

Santa Lucia loses one star because of the atmosphere + interior. I read good reviews before I went with my boyfriend but hesitated to enter because of very old looking sign and exterior.. We went in, and there was one table of customers. Very not impressive. We stayed because we were tired of looking around for restaurants and hungry for Italian food. We ordered seafood fettuccine with white sauce and Hawaiian pizza. It was very authentic and we LOVED it ! Both dishes were very rich in flavours..! Seafood pasta actually had lots of seafood in it! Some calamari, many mussels, crab meat. It was very creamy and we ate every drop of the sauce with the bun that were given. Pizza was GREAT. Thin dough, rich flavourful tomato sauce, sweet pinapples and ham. Other table ordered two pizzas and it looked like the pizza was packed with meat! It looked very good. Service was not bad. I would give this place 5/5 if they changed the exterior and interior .. to dull and old fashioned. However! GO HERE! TRY THERE AUTHENTIC FOOD! It was so great that my boyfriend and I barely talked to each other while having late lunch :D We kept saying... wow..... wow.. it's so good.. wow... :) Price was around 25 dollars I think. which is not bad at all. You won't regret it. Go. Now.

Typical old Italian restaurant of Montreal. The salad looks good and great. The service is rapid and nicely done.

Extremely rich in flavor and delicious. They even placed the burrata on the side for my fiancé to have since I was unable to eat it. The service was great. They checked in often and were very polite. We were standing around outside wondering…read morewhere to go have dinner when the owner of this little place stuck his head out and said "come on in." With such a quirky start, we did just that. Inside this little place there are maybe a dozen tables ... mostly for two. The place was casual, unpretentious, and relatively inexpensive. Service was friendly and spot on. Now the owner who drew us in - whatever his name - does it all here. He seated us, we saw him clean off some tables, and he goes back and forth in the kitchen personally making each dish. He had only two helpers ... one doing dishes and the other helping wait the tables especially when he was fixing a plate. The meals are essentially light pasta with light sauces ... nothing much heavy here. It is meant to be a quick lunch spot, and only stays open a while after hours. The menu - posted in the front window - is written on a sheet of paper and usually is about 8 different pastas and sauces; after you sit at a table you will find that the current list is generally smaller as they have run out of stuff during the day. Be that as it may, it was pretty good food. We had the Canelloni Rossini (4 stars with a light red sauce), Penne Arrabbiata (4 stars with another very light sauce), and a Calypso Salad (4 stars with very nice greens). The big takeaway was that he can make any kind of quick pasta and put any one of his light sauces on it for a quick meal. The sauces were nice - very light but nice. The pastas could have been a bit fresher. Interestingly, they only take cash - and that is not mentioned on the front window. He does have an ATM machine inside to help you cover the cash, but he should really announce this out front, especially for all the tourists that are in Montreal. Our bill came to $70 and he wrote down $80 ... maybe he included the tip for us - don't know, but pay attention to your bill on the way out. In fairness, the prices are reasonable here - $4.95 for a glass of the house Chianti, and every one of the pasta meals were simply $9.95. Canoli were $6.00 each.

Of course after we ordered we discovered a have written, 8" x 11" menu on one of the walls. Would have been nice to have been directed to that earlier... anyway moving on. Another interesting thing here is they have an unlimited self-serve salad bar for lunch (unsure about dinner). They had kale! There were a couple of salad dressings and a variety of toppings. What was memorable was the sweet, sweet corn. Bread and butter were served at our table.
