Overall, a very bustling spot with decent pastas and appetizers. Reviewing visit several months ago They started us off with bread which was good and then we got an appetizer and two pastas. Arancini was solid. The pastas were a little bit salty, with the meatball lacking in flavor and texture. Overall, the pasta with the shrimp and sausage was pretty flavorful.

An Italian spot on a lively street. I'm assuming due to the popular location, the prices reflect demand, so expect that. The inside looks really cool and is multistory. I imagine it gets loud and fun at times. My dad and I asked to sit outside to enjoy the weather and had no problem getting a table but it took 15 minutes after we were seated for anyone to bring us waters and take our drink orders. Also the table was still sticky from the diners before us. I ordered bread for the table and a Caesar salad. My dad ordered the Salsicce e Rapini pizza and a lasagna to go. Our waiter brought out our food. My Caesar was good, nothing too standout but yummy. His pizza was good as well, and we noted how we could taste the freshness of the ingredients used. However, he had forgotten the bread and had to bring it out after our entrees which was disappointing. It came with delicious pesto to dip which was needed as it was literally an untoasted baguette sliced in half. Once we arrived home, we realized the waiter never brought us our lasagna to go, yet we saw in our receipt we were still charged $26 for it. Not a terrible restaurant but with so many other choices in the area, I can't say it's one I'm ever recommend.

Pooh and I arrived in Montreal today for a few days of R&R. Both of us felt like Italian food so we yelped and found Weinstein and Gavino's. We read the reviews and decided to try it We started with the Mexican Spritzer which was basically a margarita with bubbles it was great!! We started with the fried calamar. It was easy to share with two different dipping sauces. The calamari was crispy without being greasy. I have to mention our server Joe-Louis, he was fantastic and had a great smile. He suggested the wine choice and was right on. Both of us ordered the Mac&Cheese and the wine he picked really cut through the fat and melded well with the pasta and cheese. He came by a few times to check on us and answered all our questions; he even talked about himself when he asked about him which was nice that he felt comfortable with us. His section was super busy and he still had the time to talk to us and he talked to his other customers too and that means a lot. We will definitely return!!

Despite the Formula One crowds packing downtown, Wienstein & Gavino's really delivered. I was expecting chaos with how busy it was on the street, but the service was attentive, friendly, and surprisingly fast given the circumstances. I had the linguine and it was absolutely fantastic; fresh pasta, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. A lot of reviews mention inconsistency or long waits, but that wasn't my experience at all. For such a high-traffic day, everything from the food to the service exceeded expectations. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Montreal, especially if you're looking for hearty Italian in a fun setting.

Super quick! Super tasty! Our waiter was punctual and funny. (Music was slightly loud though)

This was my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Montreal. The place was so vivacious when we showed up for dinner at about 6 pm on a Thursday. No reservations, and we were instantly seated. We received amazing bread served with olive oil/balsamic vinegar instantly. It was SO good! We ordered a Caesar salad to share and pasta pomodoro also to share. The Caesar salad here was both gigantic and amazing. I loved it so much. The amount of dressing was just perfect in every bite. The shaved Parmesan was generously applied as were the croutons. Great salad! The pasta, also shared, was delightful, with a beautiful portion of fresh mozzarella. I had a glass of Chianti, which was quite good and we took tiramisu home - it was delicious! Our server stayed right on top of everything and was just wonderful!

I posted a review of W&G's 13 years ago, and yesterday we returned for lunch. We'd just "done" the Museum of Fine Arts for 2 hours and needed to get off our feet. The restaurant was open and looked very quiet. Given how "hopping" it is in the evenings, this was quite the contrast. We sat right by the window looking out at the sidewalk, very pleasant. We were just a little hungry, so we shared the arugula salad and a mushroom pizza. SO delicious. The servers were very attentive and friendly, the price was moderate. We took the leftovers back to our hotel and will be enjoying them soon. I noticed that Yelp says "limited" vegetarian options for W&G, and I dispute this! We are vegetarians--There is a lot to choose from in their menu and we have now been here several times, not getting the same things at all. Always pleased, return customers.

It gets loud and full of students. The food was not as good as I remembered last time. Too much sauce and not a lot of flavour. Service was impersonal likely due to the high turnover. Worth checking out at least once in your life, maybe better on a week night.

Salmone all grigla. I didn't like the sauce on it.

Was in Montréal from out of town. Landed quite late and wanted something yummy but close to the hotel, and landed on Weinstein & Gavino's. I would say this is a great place to father with family but I know you could find a much better Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. It's got a nice overall vibe. I really liked my salmon, it was very good and not fishy at all. I wish I had ordered it without whatever sauce was on it. The orzo was yummy and the fresh vegetables were good too! Our waitress was very kind and attentive to our table even though we were being chatty and taking a while to order.

    Polpo

Customer service is amazing, sat us down instantly. I order the polpo, grilled octopus, presentation was great, a little too salty for my liking but if you like a lot of salt you would enjoy it. The ambiance is pretty chill, they use warm lighting and play chill music. I ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta, and it was delicious. Everything I got from here was good, will come here again when I get the chance.

After a leisurely afternoon exploring the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, my cousin and I were craving a good meal to cap off our day. Wienstein & Gavino's, located just a short walk from the museum, felt like the perfect spot to unwind and indulge in delicious food. The inviting atmosphere immediately drew us in, and from start to finish, it was a memorable dining experience. Wienstein & Gavino's is a great spot for anyone looking for a refined yet cozy atmosphere with Italian-inspired dishes. The service, food, and ambiance make it a solid choice for a relaxed meal in Montreal, especially if you're near the Museum of Fine Arts. Whether you're in the mood for a comforting pasta or a light seafood appetizer, this restaurant delivers a memorable dining experience. Video review will be posted on TikTok @Foxy.appetite and Instagram @Foxyappetite soon! In depth review: Ambiance: The space is warm and stylish, with a cozy bistro feel and plenty of seating. While it's large, it never felt too noisy, and we were able to enjoy a peaceful meal upstairs. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between lively and intimate. Drinks: My cousin had a Long Island Iced Tea ($11.30), which he liked for its well-balanced mix, while I went for an Italian Pinot Grigio ($11.25). Both drinks were refreshing and paired well with our food, setting the tone for a relaxing evening. Food: We started with the calamari ($23), which was light and crispy with two great dipping sauces. For my main, I had the Ravioli alla Gavino ($24)--the ricotta and spinach filling was creamy and delicious, though I'd have liked a bit more seasoning. My cousin's Fettuccini Carbonara ($25) was the highlight of the meal: perfectly cooked pasta in a rich, smoky sauce. Service: The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable, and the meal was paced perfectly, allowing us to enjoy every bite without feeling rushed. Value for Money: At just over $100 for both of us, the prices felt fair for the quality of the food and the experience. The portions were generous, and the overall meal was satisfying.

I ordered via Uber eats. My delivery driver kept saying I made a great choice and I should eat in the restaurant next time because it's really nice. I ordered the Pizza Funghi E Cipolla and the Gamberi Macchiato pasta. I loved everything about the pizza except the goat cheese, it just didn't mesh well for me. The pasta was good but I was expecting it to be spicier, similar to Fra Diovolo. Overall both were pretty good and I would order from here again.

Service was great! This Italian food was awesome. I wasn't a big fan of the calamari but everything wise was so yummy!!!

THIS WAS AMAZING…read more food here was flawless, every dish was absolutely perfect and creative. the ingredients are top shelf quality and put together with tons of care. I had the most amazing meal here. Genuinely the BEST beef tartare i've ever had in my life, it was chopped perfectly and flavor wise just absolute perfection. Rich, cheesy but still fresh and the beef flavor was present and well seasoned. Focaccia was great as well, the grill flavor really stuck with me and was a perfect touch of crunch and flavor. I enjoyed my leeks as well, i've never had them prepared this way so it was a unique touch. Their cocktails were good with some nice twists on classics, I got the oolong old fashion which was a pretty classic old fashion with a slight tea after taste. the highlight of the meal though was the desert . it was brûlée bananas with a chocolate cheesecake and omg that was the best touch to the meal ever. we got the wine pairing with it as well and they went together like bread and butter. the wine was sweet but had a fruitier taste to counteract the richness of the banana and chocolate. it was the most delightful experience and wasn't a bank breaker either. service here was attentive and amazing, extremely friendly and informative. the ambiance was on the fancier side, with darker lighting. during my time in montreal, this restaurant easily took home my favorite.

I was really excited to try Cadet because it was a Michelin recommended restaurant but…read moreunfortunately the food was not as expected. The restaurant had a vibrant vibe and minimalist. The service was friendly but they seemed short staffed that night. We were trying to refill our water glasses but it took a while since I couldn't find any waiter or waitress around. Now let's start with the food: Focaccia: 5/5 bread was warm, toasty and tasty but the dip was the highlight Leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, tobikko: (2.5/5) too creamy with a hint of mackerel and leeks Calamari chou-fleur, asian pear, chili beurre blanc: (2/5) very soupy and too much cream and not flavorful Black cod miso sauce, daikon, kale: (2.5/5) cod was tender but my bite had too much miso on it. It was extremely salty and not well balanced Beef tartare with mushrooms, Asiago: (1/5) mushy texture and way too much Asiago cheese. Flank steak with burnt chili salsa, szechuan pepper sauce, pickled peppers: (2/5) steak was not tender at all and the sauce was overwhelming Fried sea bass with bok choy, soya, nuoc mam (3/5): presentation was great but too many bones with too little meat. Flavor was good and I enjoyed the warm crispy fish with the Vietnamese style salad Overall, my special dinner was disappointing. I felt like the main ingredient never shined and their cheese or cream or sauce were just too overpowering. I really wanted to like Cadet but it fell short of my expectations.
