Renowned for being among the city's longest-standing restaurants, it has become a cherished staple. A distinctive feature is its offering of Cabrito, a traditional and delectable north-Mexican baby goat meat, known for its tenderness and juicy, flavorful profile. The dining experience begins with a delightful assortment of tortillas, tostadas, and enticing sauces. Our dining journey at La Fogata commenced with the must-try queso and chorizo starter, a flavorful prelude to the main course. The Cabrito, a consistent star, never fails to impress with its succulence and taste. A visit to La Fogata wouldn't be complete without indulging in their refreshing cucumber lemonade, a palate-pleasing delight. For dessert, the flan steals the spotlight. Flamed with liqueur, it not only satisfies the sweet tooth but also adds a touch of theatrics to the dining experience. The ambiance is complemented by the melodic tunes of a pianist, creating a harmonious atmosphere for diners. La Fogata excels not only in its diverse and exquisite menu but also in the quality of service provided. A visit here promises a delightful blend of tradition, flavor, and a touch of culinary artistry, making it a destination worth revisiting.

The table side dishes are, in my opinion, a big part of what makes it so special. The melted cheese, which we got with chorizo on this occasion, was awesome, with never ending fresh flour and corn tortillas. Also, don't forget to get the flan. They pour a flaming liquor on top, which goes out shortly after it gets to the table (perfect timing). I didn't try it on this visit, but I was told that the dish to go with is the cabrito- tender baby goat. It's a huge Fred Flinstone sized portion.

And who is this person? A friend of a friend? YOU tried to speak in Spanish? OMG I hope this works out. And it did, beautifully. Carmen and her sister Elsa did all the food and the decorations for a party of about 130 with seeming ease. Elsa transformed a raw space into a fiesta! forever! event. Gorgeous colored tablecloths, centerpieces, huge paper flowers, sombreros, candelarias. The whole thing was just perfect and probably the best that place is ever gonna look. Carmen, the chef of the duo, cooked, set up, served, cleaned up and generally made everyone as happy as pigs in shit. And I dont use that very graphic phrase lightly. On the menu: small homemade corn and flour tortillas, fajita, chicken, pork asada, pork belly, gorditas, quesadillas, poblano with cream and corn (veggie), towers of trompo (marinated for days), a huge salsa bar, aguas frescas (fresh juices) of watermelon, mango, pineapple and all the serving ware included. Oh, this all cost us $20 a person & $15 a table. Your quote may be different but I was mightily impressed. It was like I walked into a portal to mexico, minus the scary drug guys and iffy food (but plus a lot of scary relatives.) It seems like that dynamic duo can handle any project you want to throw at them. And believe me, you should throw every event with them. People will be raving about it for years -- and I didnt have to lift a finger. Only a fork.
