I was raised in Jalisco, so that's where I went. It takes courage to open a new and smaller business next door to a larger competitor! If the larger competitor is the one who opened a new location next door to the smaller mom and pop shop, then it could be considered bullying. Either way, I chose Taqueria Jalisco.
The ambience is clean, pleasant, and bright, good even for families and small groups.
I was surprised to discover they have table service. I was welcomed, allowed to choose a table, provided a menu and a quick explanation of drink options. They also brought out some complimentary charro beans, chips and salsa. The salsas were mild but tasty. The chips were thin American corn chip style.
The charro beans were excellent, with great flavor. I appreciated the fact the beans did not have large chunks of pig skin /fat floating in them like many other places in town. These were delicious.
I chose a Sprite and ordered the tacos de bistec, and added avocado and cheese at an additional cost. My meal was served promptly and it both looked and tasted great, a bit salty, but I like that.
The staff and owner were present, helpful and friendly, despite the fact I was there late and the last customer after a long day.
I enjoyed Taqueria Jalisco and, if you like Mexican food, I think you will too.
