Restaurante La Carreta looks like nothing from the street. It's on somewhat-shabby c/ Nueva, and it is surrounded by restaurants staffed by waiters who hang out in doorways trying to hustle up business. But do yourself a favor: venture inside. Thanks to TripAdvisor, we went in, and though the interior was a bit sterile (and quiet- Ronda in December is not exactly bustling!), the food, particularly the mixed seafood paella, was truly remarkable. The menu is extensive, as many Spanish menus are, though the highlights here are the meat (which we didn't sample) and the paella. Unfortunately, the much-celebrated avocado salad was unavailable (we were kindly told that avocado season is over), but the other salad we sampled- the standard Spanish mixed salad- was tasty enough, as was the grilled-to-perfection chicken skewers. read more
