This is a quaint seafood place frequented by celebs. The restaurant is located in Cascais center, between the bay and the fish market. If you enjoy seafood, this is the restaurant to visit. We went as a group of 10+ with a reservation. It got pretty busy at dinner time. Try their recommended Portuguese red wine. It was one of the best that I have had. We did the Menu 3 with Seabass, Tuna, Swordfish and Sole. The fish was perfectly done and served with garlic olive oil. The service was exemplary.

We enjoyed the outdoor seating. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Will definitely try again.

Food was quite good, nice outside seating on the beautiful Cascais city center. We would definitely go back.

Wasn't impressed with this restaurant. We ordered the garlic shrimp which was just basic and then the Seafood stew. Pretty much inedible, the fish was awful (two kinds), it was way overcooked and tasted terrible. There were 4 tiny mussels, a few shrimp and all that awful fish. You pay for everything (as is usual in Europe), the bread, water, olives but the breads were quite good for dipping. Maybe get out of city center as this place is overpriced and not great quality.

Foodie from New Jersey , USA. Fantastic meal.. shared the 89 Euro shellfish paella. Could feed a family of 4. Tons of 4 different shrimp , lobster , mussels . Rice. Ate outside , side block, charming place with nice service and excellent 4 euro red table wine . Best deal in Cascais.

I cannot say enough about this restaurant!! It is spectacular. Fresh fish, amazing service, great location and super quaint. We came for a quick lunch before heading to the airport, we are sad to leave Portugal but so glad this was our last meal. We ordered a whole grilled Seabass with vegetables and it was absolute perfection!!

Going to buck the trend here and give O Pescador 3 stars only. Yes, it's got fresh seafood (so does dozens of other restaurants in the area). Yes it's got a lovely outdoor patio with street musicians and lively people watching, but doesn't that describe several other restos up and down that same street? And yes, you can have three courses and wine for about 50 euros which is likely half the price you'd pay in London, Paris, Madrid, or North America. But you're not in those places, so you don't get extra stars for that. That'd be like giving the hot dog guy at Fenway Park five stars because you can't get hot dogs in Paris. I had the seafood salad (excellent) and the Cataplana for one (menu doesn't have it but I asked and they offered for a small price adjustment -- ie. divide the 2p price by two and add 3 Euros). The salad was great (and quite alot) but the Cataplana was only so-so. Lots of shellfish (shrimp, clams, mussels) and a ton of big chunks of meaty fish. But the fish was overcooked and the whole thing was a bit bland. (I've had better Cataplana in Toronto.) Wasn't happy with the bread/olives trick (3.5 Euros pp and they just put it on the table with a quiet "you'd like bread and olives right?"). I should have been wary of that as it's not my first time in Europe but I was tired and not paying attention. The service was OK, the patio was nice and they gave you an enormous amount of food. But the quality just wasn't there for me, and it left me with a "ho-hum" impression.

Wow. Great fresh seafood! This is a must do when your in Cascais! We had the steam clams, oysters and mussels and they cooked it to perfection with garlic olive oil. The octopus was perfectly cooked not too burnt perfectly grilled. my wife had the shrimp which she loved as well. Overall great meal.

They describe it as a gastronomic experience, so to say that my friend and I were excited is an understatement. Already sat on the table were some tasty morsels - the bread Selection with homemade butters, tuna pâté, crab pâté and cheese that was marinated in olive oil and paprika. This was a charming start to the meal and experience. We quickly followed it with starters of roasted scallops with sweet potato purée and bacon and garlic Shrimp and green wine sauce. Our excellent waiter recommended the veal entrecote with onion purée and the whole grilled seabass for main course and we went with his recommendation. He certainly knows what he is talking about. Lesson learned - listen to your waiter! Making room for dessert is a speciality that my friend and I have mastered over the years. This time we made room for Cheesecake with Passion Fruit Coulis, Dark Chocolate Dome, Caramel and Cherry Ice Cream and Sardine Ice cream. Not our usual trio but tasted great. All the while, we watched the beauty of the ocean from our elevated view. It was an amazing way to spend a lunch. Highly recommended for anyone at any time. Unfortunately, it ended up being the most disappointing--and most expensive--meal we've had during our month in Portugal. The experience got off to a poor start. The hostess wasn't welcoming, and when I politely asked if we could sit closer to the window, I was told those tables had been reserved weeks in advance. We had also made a reservation for our anniversary, so that was disappointing. We were seated behind a pillar instead. Throughout the evening, not a single member of the waitstaff smiled. They all looked unhappy to be there, which created a surprisingly cold atmosphere. None of the staff ever came by to ask how our meal was, and no one acknowledged our anniversary. The restaurant itself wasn't nearly as elegant or luxurious as its reputation suggests. Aside from the lobster tank, the décor and atmosphere felt rather ordinary. To make matters worse, our view overlooked a wire fence and a parking area instead of the beautiful ocean setting we had expected. There were also several odd service issues. I ordered a gin martini. They said they were out of green olives, so I requested a lemon twist instead. The drink arrived with black olives and a lemon twist, which was confusing. As for the food, the complimentary bread with the crab pâté was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, everything after that was underwhelming. The sea bass was bland and forgettable, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mushy. What made the evening especially disappointing is that every other restaurant we've visited in Cascais has been wonderful. Friendly, smiling staff checked on us, made us feel welcome, and served memorable meals--often at much lower prices. Given Mar do Inferno's reputation and premium prices, we expected an exceptional dining experience. Instead, we left wondering how it has earned such glowing reviews. I genuinely hope management takes a close look at the service, atmosphere, and food quality, because right now the restaurant simply doesn't live up to its reputation.

Our server was adorable and bubbly with a great sense of humor. She did get really busy though toward the end of our meal and it was a challenge to flag her down for our check. With that said, she provided exceptional service earlier. This is the kind of place you want to go to with others who love tasting a variety of dishes. I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. They were delightful, but kind of expensive as they were 1.70Euros each and were literally one bite, but a very flavorful bite at that. I also had a few glasses of their summer sangria which I rather enjoyed. I would return here when in Cascais again, but maybe with a different group of people so that we can treat it as tapas as it should be instead of individual dishes. There's so much more I want to try from their menu!

The puree of the avocado and mango with the prawns was a winning combo! We were both pretty full but ate every bit of the pork beef cheeks which was served with au gratin potato that had a hint of dill in it which I was surprised I like as I'm not a huge dill fan..
