It is situated in the courtyard inside the small Hotel Vista Hermosa on Cuna de Allende, #11. A true hidden gem! I was surprised there weren't more people seated when we arrived, because when we left we knew this is one of the top restaurants in SMA! Everything my husband and I tasted was superb; from the hot bread and lentil soup, to the spaghetti bolognese and beef Madagascar; and each dish was not only cooked flawlessly, but it was served at the correct temperature (hot)! Unfortunately, we were too full to eat dessert. The owners are very kind, caring and attentive, which added to our positive experience. We will definitely be back time and time again, come rain or shine, because they have seating under the roof and inside the restaurant. We urge anyone living in, or visiting, SMA to give this a try. The weather was nice to be outside and we liked that the umbrellas helped with the shade . Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were a party of 10 and they made sure that we had enough shade. The menu has a variety of foods, but does not overwhelm. Each plate was delivered in a timely manner and hot even with a big party like ours. The flavors and portions are good. The only downfall which is not the restaurants fault was that we got visited by bees. The staff tried to do their best with them, but we also did not want to make the bees mad. Just keep in mind that you might get a visit from them while you are having your meal. Next time we are in Dolores Hidalgo we will be visiting again and trying different foods and maybe their desserts.

I did as I was told and reserved a table about two weeks prior for Jamie W and me on late Saturday afternoon at 5PM. As it turned out, on the evening before, we dined at Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar at the tony Rosewood Hotel. Even though it was much further away from the parroquia, it was a relaxing experience since the tables were well separated. Quince was quite the opposite. What I'm sure was marketed as high energy really came across to us as crowded and cacophonous. I'm willing to admit I might be a bit of a curmudgeon when it comes to fine dining, but the fully occupied tables were rather packed together. We were seated away from the viewpoint, so we needed to squeeze ourselves behind other diners to get our requisite snapshots. Service was attentive though the server appeared to be following a script since we weren't able to converse in Spanish. Of course we started with frozen cocktails and indeed they were. Jamie ordered the satisfying MX$220 Mango Margarita, a tall glass filled with traditional tequila, mango pulp, and lemon, while I went with the premium-priced, sunrise-inspired MX$420 Loquita. I think it was the Loco Blanco tequila that accounted for the price differential because the rest of the mix was mango pulp, guava, and orange juice (Photo 9). It was challenging to suck through the straw since it was completely frozen. Jamie decided to order the MX$220 Tortilla Soup which we shared. This was quite a tasty tomato-chipotle broth topped with pork cracklings and fresh avocado (Photo 6). It was particularly good when complemented by the basket of soft dinner rolls freckled with sesame seeds (Photo 7). We had a mixed experience with our mains. Jamie ordered the MX$320 Brian's Burger, pretty standard though the medium angus beef was quite juicy. It came with pepper cheddar, jalapeños, lettuce, and tomato on a gratefully soft bun. The rosemary fries got lukewarm pretty fast (Photo 5). So did mine as I ordered the MX$350 French Double Dip. The shaved ribeye just didn't do it for me because it tasted more like deli-sliced roast beef. It came with a slice of provolone and arugula inside the ciabatta bun. The cups of horseradish cream and the requisite au jus proved to be the most satisfying ingredients (Photo 8). We rounded out the meal with a MX$130 Noha Mineral Water and a MX$100 Lemonade to freshen our palates (Photo 9). Meanwhile, there was a steady rotation of tables surrounding us, but we apparently missed the acrobatic tightrope walkers and strolling violinists we saw on YouTube.
