One of the best restaurants I ate at in Mexico! The food was so fresh and delicious! The atmosphere was not one of the rooftop terraces as common in this town, but rather the ground floor and still cozy and cute. We got one of the mezcal cocktails which was topped with egg white foam and was the best mezcal cocktail I had potentially ever? The tostadas are to die for! We got the cauliflower one as well as the octopus one and they were so flavorful and just overall the best! Must try in San Miguel!

This was a place on the list of must check out places. The 4 people in my group each got a different variety of tostada. I got the Peruvian cebiche and it was so different from any other ceviche I've tried, in a great way. It was so delicious! To wash it down I got a lychee martini which also was super tasty. We sat at the bar top and the service was great, everyone was very friendly. It's a tiny spot that's big on flavor, I definitely recommend stopping by.

My husband and I had a great meal here! We were only in town briefly. We split several appetizers. I had the smoky mezcal and my husband got a margarita. I loved that this place is tucked away, and we had a great waitress

Local restaurant with amazing Tostadas, salads, sweet potato fries and so many other delicious options. As for drinks, the basil sour is so yummy! Cute place, close to a major street, the Ancha, and not far from Parque Juarez.

Unbelievable!!! This place is worth traveling from across the world to visit. Unbelievable flavors and fresh, inventive ideas. Some of the best food I've ever had. It is small so make a reservation. You will not regret it!

Amazing gem! We came at 3pm on a Saturday and luckily snagged a spot at the bar. If you have a big group you'll need to get a reservation in advance as the place is really tiny and popular. Everything was so tasty, including the drinks. FOOD - Soft shell crab wrap - Shrimp tempura taco - Peruvian ceviche tostada - Sirloin and melted cheese tostada DRINKS - Passionfruit margarita - Basil sour

Absolutely fabulous food!! Have been here multiple times and enjoyed everything immensely!! Great atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend!

We were fortunate that our friend booked this place in advance. It is a tiny place that specializes in tostadas. The host was very affable and giggled all night. He was such a cheerful man. Most importantly the food was amazing! I've never had tostadas like this before and I've lived in California. The roast beet salad - superb! The grilled vegetables. Short rib, octopus and tuna avocado tostadas - were all delicious! Portions are generous!

This little neighborhood bar is SO cool. They don't have many tables (reservations recommended) but their food is outstanding. Their drinks are also incredible.

Dining at Tostevere was such a wonderful experience. My friend and I were visiting San Miguel for a few days and wanted to find a casual spot to grab a bite to eat. It's a small intimate space, but adorable and I appreciated the little nook in the corner that had cookbooks on display. (They had the Franklin BBQ book, so it was nice to see a little bit of home here.) We didn't have a reservation but walked in sometime before 8pm and had no issues getting a table. There were a few folks sitting at the bar and others already dining, so it was a good sign that people were enjoying the food end experience. Everything on the menu sounded great. I got the tuna tostada and my friend ordered the taco tatemado de camarón tempura and the tostada de esquites entrufados, but we shared that one and sweet potato fries. It was plenty for two, and we likely didn't need the fries. Prices were affordable and it was also a pleasant surprise that they took credit cards. If you're looking for a delicious, no frills dinner, look no further.

Best Meal I have had in San Miguel. Go with a big appetite so that you can try as many of the amazing things on the menu as you can. Lychee martini and passion fruit margaritas were insane. Every tostada was incredible. Service was amazing. I had originally called to try to get a reservation for a group of 9. They told me they had no availability, but that they would call me if something opened up. I am so grateful they called and squeezed us in because it was a truly incredible experience. If you can get a table, this restaurant is a must.

This is a small super quaint restaurant with excellent food and service Almost everything on the menu is grilled and good portions, so sharing is a good idea. Ingredients were fresh and presentation was stellar. I don't eat beets but what ever they did to this roasted vegetable plate was amazing. The soft crab taco was so good, and the sauce that accompanied it was so delish. No disappointments here!!

The food was great and the staff equally as fabulous. It has a very limited smile menu and the venue itself is extremely small, maybe 30 people at the same time. Make sure to get a reservation. Their food is fresh and delicious. We enjoyed every sumptuous bite plan ahead and get on over there!

Some of the best food in San Miguel. Be aware, though: it's popular, it's tiny and people reserve weeks in advance.

However, the staff didn't make us feel that way since they gave us the table with inarguably the best view of the city during the most photogenic time of the day, magic hour at sunset (Photo 3). How did we get so lucky since we made our reservation just the day before? And what better way to start than with a pair of MX$340 Carajillos, the Mexican version of espresso martinis (Photo 7). The use of Licor 43 lent a welcome sweet spiciness to the deep espresso and fit the moment perfectly. We were happy to receive a complimentary serving of warm Focaccia topped with a wedge of liver pate, olive oil, and chives (Photo 10). It was a nice surprise quickly devoured. Our first shared dish was the MX$365 Ensalada Luna, a hearty and enticing mix of greens, stracciatella cheese, speck ham, fresh peaches and figs, and quinoa in a citrus and vanilla vinaigrette (Photo 4). Our entree was the MX$406 Tacos de Lechon Rostizado, a trio of roasted suckling pig tacos with crispy skin cracklings, red onion, and fresh green salsa (Photo 5). The pork was fork tender. Nestled in a flour tortilla, the soft pulled meat stood in nice contrast to the crack of the skin. We went for a second drink, but this time a mocktail, the MX$195 Chilate, a refreshing alcohol-free blend of cacao, rice, cinnamon, and raw cane sugar in a coconut shell (Photo 6). While awaiting our dessert order, we were surprised by a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert, a bit of a head-scratcher. We didn't say we were celebrating anything, but hey, we didn't complain. The sparkler was already lit and the staff was harmonizing. It was a chocolate ganache cake with blueberries atop puffed rice (Photo 8). That didn't stop us from enjoying the crispy-sweet MX$289 Churros with cinnamon ice cream and champurrado chocolate sauce (Photo 9), while entranced by the nighttime view (Photo 2). The menu features a variety of atypical seafood tacos and tostadas, including octopus and smoked fish, which immediately caught my attention. I ended up ordering the Pescado al Pastor taco, which turned out to be a great choice. The chopped fish was marinated in al pastor seasoning and topped with pineapple, onion, and cilantro, with a lime wedge on the side. The combination of flavors was vibrant and very tasty. We also tried the octopus, which was excellent. I'm a bit of a sucker for octopus when it's prepared well, and this one definitely delivered. The ceviche blanco tostada was another highlight--a generous pile of diced fish with tomato, onion, and lime juice that tasted incredibly fresh and bright. The hibiscus margaritas were delicious and refreshing, and I would highly recommend them--especially if you're planning to walk to the restaurant. The restaurant sits up a fairly steep climb from the Parque Benito Juárez area, so it can be a bit of a trek. Fortunately, we were dropped off and picked up by our driver. From our third stop, Le Pegaso (review: https://yelp.to/rmPAJsgLVf), we had to cross the cobblestone streets around the central plaza, Jardin Allende. Our group was seated around a dining table. I noticed our Tequila Paloma was a bit skimpier this time (Photo 7), perhaps an acknowledgement that we were tapering off our alcoholic consumption. However, we ended up with the evening's best plate, a pair of Emmoladas, an enchilada-like house specialty filled with shredded chicken and covered liberally in a savory-sweet dark chocolate mole sauce (Photo 8). This obscure place from outside, when you walk in becomes what appears to be a Hacienda along with a patio, Terraza and balconies all around and cantina where you walk in! Not only was this place beautiful in the most traditional of Mexican styles, with tiled and wrought iron stairs to upper balconies, built in shelves and niches withing stone, wallpapered and muralled walls, a typical bar inlaid with the structure with magnificent woodwork and an excellent bartender I might add, clay flower pots galore hanging from the balcony flooring, and an incredible full skylight, wall to wall, but that's not the best of it. The food. The food was magnificent. I have had many a meal in Mexico, I have tried many, many styles of regional cuisine, but I had never ever had the specialty of this house - the Enmolada! The unique specialty of the house at La Cocina Café del Viajero are Enmoladas which are a dish consisting of tortillas in mole sauce... stuffed with fillings of almost any inkling! Enmoladas are a established indigenous dish made with corn tortillas that is coated in mole sauce. This is what I had to have. First let me mention that the food here is incredible, overall. We obviously started with bottled water, a couple of okay Margaritas and some Modelos. As is the custom, we had the Guacamole, which was extraordinarily excellent, with homemade chips, really, really good chips. Someone at the table ordered the Enchilada Capital with Mexican rice - extraordinary and very picoso! To make a long story short, my order of the Enmolada was exquisite. Most folk like me, were only familiar with enchilada sauce, but Enmolada sauce is unique. The enchiladas are smothered in mole sauce, offering a exceptional merge of flavors that stretch from spicy and sweet to savory and smoky. Totally overwhelming the palate, as your tastebuds go in a freefall. They compacted shredded chicken, then rolled it, then garnished it with fresh toppings of crema and cheese. Wow! Needless to say, this was an experience! An exquisite location, excellent service, terrific atmosphere and one of the most life changing taste adventures I had in Mexico. Try an Enmolada, maybe here, it's terrific.
