We had reservations for a party of 2 on a Saturday at 6 PM. When you check in, they give you a slip of paper which has a QR code on it for you to access the menu later, and we were promptly seated upstairs. The menu is conveniently available in several languages (you select your language at the bottom of the main menu page). We were at a long table for 6, with us sitting on the inside and another couple sitting at the end, and the table settings in between us were cleared, so it didn't feel like we were on top of one another. I appreciated that the server gave recommendations that would be good for two people. We went with most of his recommendations (shrimps on garlic sauce (it's labeled as spicy, but it's really not), clams on garlic, tiger prawns grilled on bed of salt) and added some of our own (razor clams and lobster roll). All the seafood tasted fresh, bursting with flavor from the buttery garlic sauce, which we sopped up with garlic bread. The bread is brought to the table when you first get seated. It's not free, which I was aware of, but I knew it would go well with the dishes we ordered. The razor clams were juicy and sweet. The lobster roll was good, but not something I would order again when there's so many other fantastic seafood choices. I usually don't drink beer, but felt that it was appropriate since we were at a cervejaria, so I ordered a bottle of Sagres Bohemia. It went perfectly with the seafood. My SO, who doesn't drink alcohol, got peach iced tea. I wanted to get the prego sandwich for dessert, but my SO was pretty much full at that point, so I ordered a tarte whisky and a cappuccino for myself. The whisky ice cream layer in the tarte was nice and refreshing. I was shocked when we got the bill and it came out to less than 50€. This meal would have cost so much more in the US. You pay via tablet at the end and I left a generous tip in appreciation of the wonderful meal and service. They get you in and out of there quick, but it never felt like we were being rushed out. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some fresh, delicious seafood in Lisbon.

It's a more casual and warm vibe than a lot of other more traditional fine dining experiences. Think warm and cozy dining room, no white linens, somewhat open kitchen in the corner. The food was of course the star. It was truly exceptional, as expected. The suckling pig was probably my favorite dish but the tenderloin was also a highlight. In fact, though I've nearly explored Lisbon to my heart's content, I would consider returning just to dine here again. For this visit, we opted for the à la carte menu and added the bread service and Chef's Surprises (€15)--an absolute must. The bread was accompanied by a uniquely nutty olive oil (so good I hunted it down at the market to bring home) and a deeply smoked butter that was truly out of this world. I won't spoil the "moments" and Chef's surprises that were sprinkled throughout the meal but they added an element of delight and anticipation throughout the night, with each one memorable and mouthwatering in their own special way. Alma's cocktail menu is uniquely rooted in Portuguese ingredients, but what impressed me even more was their thoughtful mocktail selection, a rarity at this level of dining. I got the Soul (elderflower, lemon, cucumber and egg white) a delightfully refreshing treat that I hope to one day recreate at home, while my boyfriend got the Tamashi, a cocktail made with Amêndoa Amarga Ámen (a local almond liqueur) and Angostura bitters--a lovely, marzipan-meets-citrus drink that gave us the chance to sample local spirits. On to the entrees... since we were dining a la carte, we chose an item each from their chef's classics menu and the seafood (Costa a Costa) menu. FOIE GRAS: seared and served with grilled apple, beetroot and granola... as well as an aromatic bitter coffee foam that cut through the unctuousness of the intensely rich and buttery foie gras to add a roasted, nutty, almost smokey flavor-- just wow. the textural contrast of all these elements made this a truly mind blowing and innovative concoction~ BLUE LOBSTER: poached to buttery smooth perfection, this was a more quietly elegant dish served with roasted leek and corn in a creamy nutty almond emulsion with bright orangey citrusy notes... a gentle symphony of well-balanced flavors Because I simply could not bear to have the meal come to an end, we had to finish off with dessert. The Bola de Berlim was essentially the Portuguese version of the German Berliner, fluffy doughnut holes filled with decadent egg custard (instead of jam) accented with a fragrant calamansi sorbet... a divine and elevated take on this classic Portuguese beach treat. While we only ordered drinks, two entrees and a dessert, our meal ended up being so much more due to the anticipation of the surprises and moments, which were all nothing short of amazing and turned the evening into an immersive journey. It's absolutely bustling inside; there are several tables inside and outside, and you can generally just seat yourself as long as there's an open slot. There are very few tourists here -- another great sign -- so the menus will all be in Portuguese, and it will be hit or miss as to whether your server can translate for you. However, the menu is pretty simple, so it's easy enough to intuit what they say (or to just use Google Translate) -- the menu is spread across three blackboards, one for daily specials, another for seafood, and the last for other meat dishes. Everything is just twelve euros for lunch, and it also comes with a drink and bread. You genuinely can't go wrong with anything on their menu. My mom and I both ordered from their seafood menu, and the fish is super fresh and grilled to perfection. It has a perfect char on the outside, and is super flaky and tender on the inside; they add a hit of salt and a side of lemon, but the fish honestly doesn't need much else. The fish also comes with a side of boiled veggies and potatoes, which are a great, neutral accompaniment to the fish. I ordered the swordfish, and my mom got the sea bass, but we ended up splitting both of the dishes between us (especially since they both conveniently came with two pieces). It started off with great service and personality from the owner. Restaurant was cozy and simply decorated with framed photos and African masks. Food was just excellent. The beef samosas were complemented with the freshly made hot sauce. Our grilled chicken was super delicious in a light coconut sauce. The curries were just the right amount of heat.
