On October 21, I went to my parents grave site. My parents have a bronze marker with the American flag draped over the sides with stars on the corners of both sides. It looks like a blade from a lawn mower scraped some of the stars off my mom's side. I talked to Vicky Williams and Scott the Manager about it. I had to call several times and the still have not gotten back to me. My Dad was in the service and served our country. It is a shame that this cemetery doesn't care about what there cemetery looks like. They like to take your money and then after that, if there is a problem, they do nothing about it. About 3 years ago we said goodbye to my wife's great-grandmother. We visit the cemetery annually to wish her a happy birthday and sometimes will pop in just to say hi. On Sunday we stopped by and this is what I saw. I'm appalled and disgusted that they left the grounds in this kind of shape to the point that the headstone is submerged in mud. My wife was so upset at the sight and I was angry. This is not at all how a cemetery should be. This speaks volumes. I'd say maybe it was due to a recent burial but the whole area looked awful with mud all over the place and then there was the hole by the driveway covered with a piece of plywood that served no purpose. I know this is not locally owned anymore and others have complained but I suppose now it's my turn. This is not ok. read more

I met with Morgan today and had a very pleasant experience and look forward to hearing from him when my work order is complete. He mentioned he's only been at Resthaven about five weeks, I have no reason to doubt I will be satisfied. Morgan also walked me around and pointed out the work that they have been doing to fix the flooding. Again, I'm completely satisfied until I'm not. Angry doesn't even come close to how I feel. I've put in multiple complaints to see no resolution. Today after a not so nice conversation with Mark, I was hung up on. The way business is handled within the office is very frustrating! These pictures are a week and a half apart. In the first set of pictures there is a wooden stake in the ground above the headstone. In the last from today that wooden stake is gone, leaving a hole. So obviously someone has been at the site and still nothing done. read more

I would give this place a 0 if I could. They took over a YEAR to place my mother's headstone. They were much more efficient in taking her money when she prepaid years ago. The upkeep has been horrendous. Most recently, they placed heavy boards over her gravesite and had a truck drive over it to access another new grave site. This happened on Tuesday (these folks are our relatives). Today is Saturday, and I found the board still covering her grave, deep muddy truck tracks, and her headstone is now covered in mud. Is there any plan to clean this complete mess up?? The complete lack of disrespect for those that have passed and their families is disturbing. read more

We buried our grandmother there in 1972 and for a while Resthaven was maintained. It didn't take very long for the cemetery to go downhill. Flowers have been removed when told they would not. Two of our family's gravestones were chipped by mowers. One gravestone had the flower pot bent - again by a mower. This was never repaired. Too many times my family has had to deal with issues. My mother passed recently and had made some of her final arrangements with Resthaven. Morgan Hester helped us immensely with the remaining arrangements, including legal requirements, choosing graphics on her marker, and explaining the burial and grave preparation timeline. As we spoke, he was patient and attentive and answered our questions diligently. More important than the professional aspects of his service, however, were the many ways he showed my brother and I a genuine caring and comforting attitude throughout the whole process. My mother had already paid for everything, so there was no monetary incentive to be as heartfelt as he was. He walked us to the grave and showed us where she would be inurned. He continually expressed his sympathies and talked matter-of-factly about how he could tell what a good mother we had and how much she obviously meant to us. Morgan was precisely what we needed at a very difficult time. read more

My family has repeatedly called only to be hung up on when we are trying to get answers on the flooding issues. My grandparents' headstone is covered in mud and dirt and there were tire tracks right on top. Mark is incredibly insensitive as he hangs up rather than listening to concerns. They post on Facebook to honor veterans on Memorial Day, but how can I when I can't even see my veteran grandfather's name through the dirt? They also said that anybody who shows up (to a plot they own) will be turned away. Good luck turning the news teams who catch up on this away. read more

So many people have said that the operators of Resthaven don't care about the families of those who are interred there. Today Mark from Resthaven went out of his way to make contact with my mother, he left such a friendly message on her answering machine just to reach out and make sure that during the Covid pandemic that she is not in want of anything. He was doing a file review of those who own plots at Resthaven to help with their planning and to assure them that improvements are being made to the entire cemetery. With that kind of personal attention how can you question the caring nature of the staff. Sadly Mark was too late, my mother has been occupying her lot at Resthaven for nearly 3 years. I give this business a big fat "0". If I had known about all of the problems with Resthaven, I would have never purchased a plot across from where my Mom is buried. When I visit her grave, it's often in poor shape due to water accumulation, dirt, and grass overgrowth that obstructs the bottom portion of her marker. It's terrible. read more

On September 4,2018 Cleveland based television news station channel 5 interviewed Betty Drennan about her complaints regarding Resthaven. I accessed this news video through the news5cleveland.com website. On December 26,2018 Cleveland based television news station channels 19 (CBS) and channel 8 (Fox) also did news reports about the conditions at Resthaven. All three television reports contained video footage of the flooding of headstones and the mud around headstones denying accessibility to those who wanted to visit gravesites. A Better Business Bureau internet check on my part revealed that there have been 111 complaints about StoneMor properties (they own Resthaven) in the last three years. Internet reviews of Resthaven have all unanimously yielded bad reviews. There are also complaints about a nauseating stench in the mausoleum. Complaints about Resthaven have gone on for at least five years in internet reviews posted by many individuals. Photos of headstones (including my parents) show an inordinate amount of abuse from heavy equipment driving over headstones. Resthaven's failure to abide by their contract promising care and maintenance of the cemetery is beyond unacceptable. I have filed a cemetery complaint with the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing. This form REPL-18-0010 is available on line. It is a short form and easily filled out but it must be mailed in. I encourage anyone who has a complaint about Resthaven to fill out this form. read more

I personally love Freedom Chapel.... I find it to be very peaceful inside. However I have to admit that it is still very hard to go there because I have a very dear friend who is resting in the mausoleum..... Miss her. read more
