having grown up in the dc area, and visiting my parents 1-3x annually, i'd never visited or even…read moreheard of this place until my last visit home, 2 months ago! mom used to volunteer nearby so she knew about this village, primarily for retired citizens, with a beautiful lake, tennis courts and several walking trails. the day after i ran 26.2 miles, we came here en route to the airport and it was the perfect place to get in some easy, gentle walking. in late october, the fall foliage was really peaking and i loved seeing the beautiful, rustic colours of autumn. multitudes of rust, gold, pumpkin, and chestnut coloured leaves covered the grass and walking paths, making for the most picturesque walk. i couldn't help myself from taking multiple photos and videos! i'd recommend coming here in the warmer months, perhaps with a standup paddleboard, kayak or canoe and enjoying the lake, and grabbing a beverage at one of the cafes after. very peaceful and a great hidden gem in the dmv.

Today I went to harris teeter twice, I returned because I'd forgotten to get certain items. While…read moreat the self check out I asked the attendant about using a $10 coupon which required a purchase of $75. I wanted to add the two purchases together since they were with in a hours time. I was denied because he stated that an etched in stone store policy required the $75 had to be within a single purchase ticket. I spoke with the manager who confirmed this policy and I defended my situation by stating that I'd been this before over the years. I think this is rude and for some peon junior big boy manager to impose this arbitrary decision on the customers who are to be catered to is a mistake and should be corrected down through the pecking order down to these clowns.

There is a huge PUBLIC SAFETY issue in the parking lot in the front of the Giant food store…read more Inconsiderate people park there as they wait for their passengers to come out of the store. They park in front where the loading zone is, where customers cross the lot to their cars and in the bus route. I watch this daily as I frequent the Village Center often. The Giant attendants ask the offenders to move on and sometimes they are successful. There is even a sign detailing that this is not a parking zone. Here are a few suggestions: 1. The attendants need to buzz Giant management ASAP when this happens to prevent the public safety issue, 2. The owner of the village center could paint the area with bold lines indicating a cross walk and loading zone, 3. Prevent customers from crossing in front of cars opening up a designated cross areas on either side of the loading zone. 4. Post a sign with consequences - like a FINE for violation due to public safety concerns. This is a SERIOUS issue. Anyone else concerned about this??
