Went to the RTC splash pad today. On weekdays parking in the garages are free after 5 pm. There is also street parking but parallel parking stresses me out so I prefer to park in ramps even if they can get a little crowded. There were shady areas to sit while my little one enjoyed the splash pad.The grass nearby is artificial so there weren't many bugs which was a plus. Diaper changes can be a bit awkward since the nearest public restrooms are a bit far though. read more

Reston Town Center is a thriving community of restaurants, specialty shops, and retail stores. By far, the restaurants, outnumber all of the other choices. You can pick up something quick at Sweet green or indulge in a meat coma at Fogo de Chao! You can pick your price point, with a wide variety of choices and selections. I recently attended an event at Paddywax Candles in the Town Center that I really enjoyed. Parking is easy at the 4 garages located throughout the Town Center. I was also impressed that there were guards patrolling when I went both during the day and in the evening. It gives you a secure feeling. Everything is well taken care of and looks great. I mean, what can I say about RTC?! It's an OG location for hanging out...different age ranges. It did slow down a bit for a while, but now I feel foot traffic has increased. It is home to many restaurants (Mon Ami Gabi, Jackson's Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge, Fogo De Chau, etc.) as well as coffee spots (Starbucks, Tatte Bakery & Cafe) and Pitango. There are also many stores in between the restaurants such (Apple, Sephora, phone providers, etc.). The movie theatre name changed to "Look dine-in cinemas". I have been here different days, different times and the crowds always vary. It is Definitely nice to walk around, and they have ice skating (when the weather permits). There is plenty of free garage parking available, some parallel parking available. read more

Boy, this place has changed a lot since we lived in Reston many years ago. Many of the restaurants and stores have turned over and the charm just isn't there for us anymore, plus they want to charge for parking in the decks during weekdays. We used to enjoy a little craft gallery, Williams-Sonoma, animation gallery and more, and they're just not there anymore. The buildings seem to get taller and more crowded. A lot has changed at Reston Town Center since I left Northern VA 5 years ago. Certain staples are there like the water fountain plaza, the common area where people congregate and where concerts are performed, and not sure if it still gets transformed into a skating rink in the winter. Was back visiting friends so watched a concert there from afternoon until evening. There are the usual shops and restaurants that offer variety of cuisines like American, Thai, Japanese, Spanish, Mexican...there's ample garage parking. Vibe is great for just walking around,walking your dogs, chilling on the restaurant patios.Major retail shops like Sephora, Anthropologie, Paper Source are there. During summer there will be flea markets, art events, wine and food fests... sure place to check out and enjoy the vibe! read more

I had to attend a meeting at the RTC and I was shocked at how empty the RTC seemed the two times I had to be there. I had not been since the good ole days when there seemed to be a lot more variety of stores and restaurants Il Fornaio is gone, Clyde's gone, McCormicks gone, Mon Ami Gabi gone. Only upscale steak houses and a smattering of businesses left there. A lot of retailers are also missing. It's a great place to explore if you don't need to park a car. If you are driving, don't bother - too many better options nearby that are more accessible and won't give you a headache getting in and out. The convoluted parking situation makes this place a nightmare and is the reason RTC is no longer a top shopping destination in northern VA. The parking towers themselves are a hellscape. Narrow, winding, and the only open spots are usually ones you can't actually park in and possibly will be towed from. Then you gotta sign up for their app, not park mobile or another universally used parking system, their own stupid app! I'm aware they "tried" to improve things by making paid parking only for certain times and days of the week, but even that is hard to determine and none of the signage throughout the lots provide clear info on this. I feel sorry for the businesses that have been impacted and in many cases, shut down due to RTC's mismanagement. Thankfully, many of them have other locations or have moved out of RTC but it's such a shame what has become of the town center since they bungled the parking. read more

Choices, choices, choices. This neighborhood is dense with restaurants, retail shopping, office spaces and apartments/condos. There's even a hotel here. Wide sidewalks, plenty of shade and good markings at the crossings. This is near the soon-to-be-opened Reston stop on the Silver Line so I'm sure the clientele will change somewhat once that happens. The square is surrounded by high end shops and nice restaurants. In the center there's a little amphitheater and lots of flowers. We were at a hotel two Metro stops away, and were happy to find so many restaurant options. The big downside is that the walk from the Silver line Metro station is very dark and through a construction zone. I would NOT recommend walking this alone at night. Since this is an outdoor shopping center, bad weather also makes it less pleasant to visit. That said, it looks like there is a great variety of stores and restaurants ranging from fast food to casual sit down to fancier options. I'm hoping that once the construction is done, the walk from the Metro will be well marked and well-lit. Would definitely come back and shop/eat more next time I'm in the area if this is the case. read more

An upscale shopping center targeting urban professionals, Reston Town Center offers a really nice selection of stores and eating establishments ranging from Jackson's to Mon Ami Gabi to Not Your Average Joe's. Great place for picking up gifts or just to stroll and browse. Paid parking is, as others note, annoying and confusing. But my solution is to simply Uber over or carpool over (e.g., for lunch) - so RTC has lost a bit of my business since there are plenty of other options in the area as well, including Tyson's just a bit further away with free parking and an even wider selection of stores. read more

I don't want to Reston my laurels, so I'll write a review of this "modern style village-esque" Mall. I'm not a big fan of the Reston Town Center. They're trying to be all cool and European but what you end up having is a really difficult place to park and lots of fancy overpriced shops - most of which don't appeal to me at all. Unless you have lots of money which I guess a lot of the people in Northern Virginia do, then don't even bother coming around these parts. And the salad bar that they have here is not particularly great either. read more

It's a beautiful outdoor shopping area. Very clean and safe. Great in the spring and fall. Tons of restaurants and it has really been expanded since my family has lived here for 20 years. You can ice skate on the rink in the winter months and bands play during summer there. The downsides are all the new construction of apartments there. The pay to park is also a huge problem for many people. That's new and clearly hurting the shopping income as many stores have closed, ex. Panera, Crate and Barrel, Victoria Secret. The parking is free on weekends and holidays but if you can find free parking nearby do it. read more

We used to enjoy going to Reston Town Center. The Apple Store there was one of our favorite "Go To" locations and the restaurant selection is pretty good. **Jackon's never failed to please!** Since the paid parking kicked in (seriously?) with the goofy one trick pony RTC-only parking app (heard of Park Mobile?), along with the confusing and threatening signage (going to disable my car eh?) well... it became a "oh yea, paid parking, lets go to [fill in blank] instead!" when someone in my family mentions RTC. At this point we have all but stopped going. We visit our "friend Jackson" and his mighty fine eats once in a while now but it is a rarity. And RTC was our "go to" :-( My family of 5 drivers rediscovered Tyson's Corner, & FairFax Mall. We found the Potomac Town Center with a huge Apple Store that was not crowded and all brand new restaurants. We started going to The Promenade and Atlas Walk Way which is much closer to our home with a great theater and an intimate European style coffee bar and pastry shop called Trummers (try the beignets!) and it reminded us that "intimate" is what RTC truly lacked. We called Boston Properties at 703.579.6720, the parking fiasco headquarters, and expressed our discontent. It's funny what a little $ slap in the face and goofy app can do. The parking at RTC is the most ridiculous I've seen... they boot and fine if you are 1 minute late... (even if you've never been fined there before...) once booted it can take up to an hour for someone to come get the boot off and take payment for the fine which in most cases is $35.00. Many businesses are closing due to lack of business because of the pay for parking situation. Do yourself a favor... find another more friendly place to go. Please do not touch RTC with a 10 foot pole because they are going to start charging for parking on January 3rd, 2017. :( I have heard that staff are not very friendly and helpful at all. I'm giving them 1 star. The not so friendly folks at BP Reston Town Center have seriously have not been courteous and helpful since they changed the street and garage situation on January 3rd. That was totally uncalled for and unfair to both the residents, workers and the patrons of RTC. Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma are shutting down operations and leaving at the end of this week because of the unfair parking situation that Boston Properties has created. :( read more

Another gentrified town center built for people my age to shop, eat, and do whatever. I almost lived in Reston nearly three years ago. This would have been a big bonus. Many of the restaurants here are terrific, and some of the shops are too. It just keeps growing and growing in store numbers! I like walking around here when I can because it is pedestrian friendly. However, unlike Mosaic District in Merrifield, parking is not cheap. At least if I go on the weekend parking is free (Jackson's customers have free parking regardless). The Metro stop cannot open fast enough. That alone will bring in more foot traffic. My advice is to get here early. Less noise, easier parking, and no hassles. Have fun! read more

12/3/19 Back on Black Friday, I had just finished my shift at work. I saw a lot of vicheles parked in the lot that are not normally there. The sounds of lot noise could be heard. As I approached the loud noise it soon became clear it was people sing Christmas songs. I like Christmas mas, but not the obnoxious songs that go with this season. If you work in retail, you will get a repeated dose of it again and again. Normally starting before or after Halloween. I would never subject my employees to the musical torture..., but that is just one man's thought. As I neared the horses in a carriage, the thought to take my wife on a carriage ride crossed my mind. I will look into this. I saw people ice skating and it looked fun, but the ice skating obstacle courses I saw on tv looked more entertaining that going around in a circle. Finally I saw stores open along the streets of Reston town center. The stores were still open, but I did not feel like going into them. The sounds of people song was nice to see, but not the music I was hearing. Still, it was nice to see people smiling and having a good time which is what this season is meant for. Definitely the place to go on the weekend if you live in Reston and are too lazy to go into DC. Tons of restaurants, alcohol, people and their adorable dogs (!). It's a vibrant little slice of city in an otherwise boring town. There are shops, too, but mainly just stuff you'd see in the mall... Victoria's Secret, Teavana, etc. Good place to meet people and mingle. Bonus points for the gorgeous fountain, even if it sprays water all over you. read more

This used to be the crowning jewel of Reston, but after greed set in, there really isn't an incentive for me to go. There are plenty of other similar venues that are so much better and you don't have to pay for parking. Rockville town center is nice and you get two hours of free parking. The Rio has a nice lake. The Dunn Loring metro and the Mosaic are so much more amazing. Tyson's corner center has an ice rink and it's clean and amazing. All the shops basically you can find a similar or better version elsewhere. There just isn't anything that draws me there anymore. read more

Reston Town Center was certainly a shopping or eating option prior to the start of paid parking, having to get that parking validated, and using a shady mobile app to manage payment. Reston Town Center offers no unique retail store that is not FREE to park at many other areas in Fairfax or Loudon counties. The shady app they encourage you to download asks for so many permissions, it is a security risk of your private data getting compromised or you being tracked everywhere you go. In light of Reston Town Center being nothing particularly special, with the added parking fees and shady mobile app, I would encourage anyone to avoid this place until the greedy parking company stops this nonsense. I am handicapped and managed to find a close on street parking space BUT the sign said I had to pay (really for handicapped) and by apple pay which I don't have. Never have I been able to walk into a restaurant here without waiting to be seated, until now. Ohhhh, its the confusing paid parking in the middle of nowhere? Got it! I visited RTC to attend a conference and was appalled after being gouged by EZ Pass rates ($16.95) in ridiculous traffic during "peak time", now I have to pay for parking, by this time I've spent over $20 without leaving my car. The stores here are basic and definitely not worth a leisure, return visit. Reston Town Center is over. I'm sure everyone already knows that the vendors have a lawsuit regarding the change in the parking situation. The parking situation is strange and confusing. First of all, they want you to download an app. Okay, what about grandparents who don't know how to do that? Well, then there's a pay station option, but it's only in certain garages, and it's unclear what you're even supposed to do. I tell you what's really unclear--if anyone's even checking this shit or if it's a Santa Claus "he sees you when you're sleeping" type scenario. The "which vendors validate which garages website" is an upsetting rainbow of confusion. I'm a tech savvy millennial and even I hate it all. I like some of the stores and restaurants though. It's a convenient meet up spot. We come here often to catch up with friends. There are a variety of places to eat and shop. You can get your dessert fix here as well. They have a movie theatre and around November, the Ice Skating Pavillon is open. Free parking is a plus but the lots can get full pretty quick. read more
