Expect nothing from the aides (they absolutely do not want to be bothered) and the nurses are glorified dispensaries. Well, only if the patient is wide awake and willing, otherwise they just move on. (So expect to find your loved one in excruciating pain). The nurses don't care for the patients well being; they don't have the time nor the inclination to help. Expect soiled sheets, diapers, repeat falls, 10+ minute wait times when you pull the emergency cord, disdain when you ask for clean sheets (only bc they're disgusting), extreme bed sores, patients naked in common areas (routinely) and general disdain for any request. If you're looking to place anyone here they must be nearly self sufficient +. Walk the third floor, smell it. Understand you're putting someone in the care of a building that offers meals and little else. Absolutely willing and able to provide photos.

They are hungry, their phones were taken away, they are in diapers that get changed once a day. It is horrible. Check the Medicare violations. I added my review to Google last year, after the gross neglect here directly resulted in my family member's death. Reading the reviews on here, I am more horrified than ever. They aren't doing this for free! I have no idea how this place is getting away with swindling patients, medicare and insurance to get paid large amounts of money to NEGLECT patients. I do not know how this place is still legally allowed to operate. The Michigan Department of Licencing and Regulatory Affairs and the Department of Health and Human Services needs to, at bare minimum, conduct a mystery/secrect shop audit so they can see what really goes on behind closed doors. -------------- My loved one was transferred to the rehab here after a hospital stay. Rehab, not nursing home. This is a place where he was supposed to regain some strength and mobility. He had developed a manageable bed sore in the hospital. This bed sore grew exponentially in size and severity during the approx. 2 weeks he was here and looked infected. He was not receiving proper wound care or meaningful repositioning. The standard for bed-bound patients is to reposition them every 2 hours at minimum - particularly if a bed sore is already present. This was NOT DONE. He often waited very long periods of time in his own urine and/or excrement before being changed, greatly increasing the risk of bed sore infection in this sensitive area. He went into septic shock due to an infection and passed away. DO NOT entrust this place with your loved ones who may require any sort of advanced care or wound care. The purpose of my review is to warn others. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Later that same…read morenight, he suffered three heart attacks, followed by mechanical removal of the embolism, and two strokes between January 8 and January 18. After spending a month in the ICU and then another month at a specialty care hospital, my husband arrived at Pomeroy on March 6. At that time, he was still not meeting his ADLs and had a Stage 4 infected wound. I share this background because it's important to understand how complex his care needs were. Out of five facilities, Pomeroy was the only one willing to accept him. Others were unable or unwilling to take on such a complicated case, and for that alone, we are incredibly grateful. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to my husband's well‑being. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exemplary care provided at this skilled nursing facility. Ray, Kelly and Jolisa, RN, consistently went above and beyond, ensuring strong communication and attentive medical oversight. A special thank you to Kelly, Wound Care Nurse, whose expertise, dedication, and kindness have made a meaningful difference in my husband's healing and comfort. The CNAs--Makela, Felicia, Octavia, and Jay--have been truly wonderful. They are patient, respectful, and consistently attentive, always treating residents with dignity and warmth. Their teamwork and positive attitudes have made a very difficult time easier for both my husband and our family. I would also like to recognize Tony and Bri, Physical and Occupational Therapy. They have been incredible--working tirelessly with my husband, encouraging him as they help him practice sitting up and standing. Even though progress takes time, they have never stopped believing in him or motivating him to keep trying. This facility is fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate team. I am deeply grateful for the care my husband has received and would highly recommend Pomeroy to anyone seeking quality, patient‑centered skilled nursing care.

She initially went to a nursing facility in Shelby which was horrific, but in a hidden blessing had to be sent to the hospital again for a surgical procedure. She was in a bed ridden state and Pomeroy Sterling Heights (Feb 2024 - April 2024) was 1 of 3 facilities I did research on and had received an above average rating from multiple research sites (Google, Yelp, various 3rd party home care sites). We were thankfully accepted and received A Class service. We did have a couple of hiccups but No Place is Perfect. The staff, Especially the Nurses and CNAs were SUPERSTARS!!! They deserve Praise and definitely a Raise!!! We would like to give a Shoutout Everyone - Front Desk, Social Services Staff, Custodial Staff, Cafeteria Staff, and Especially the Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy Team, Nursing Leads (Eugene, Manny, Ray), Kelli the Wound Specialist, Betty the Nutritional Guru and MAINLY the CNAs for their HARD Work and Nurses for Caring for my Mother!! Our Family would recommend Pomeroy Sterling Heights for their Rehabilitation Wing and Staff!!!

My sister who has ALS was brought here from the hospital based on a social worker recommendation as a good place to rehab after breaking her ankle. While PT and OT worked within her physical limitations no one ever knew when they would be coming. There is no schedule or feed back unless you happen to catch them with resident The nurses were pathetic. Of the 3 weeks she was there I can only count one instance where the nurse extended any hands on care to her. That nurse was a midnight shift nurse who had 30+ years of experience. Nurses distributed medication only and not in a timely manner. If meds were ordered for morning it was not unusual to receive them in late afternoon or not at all. Multiple times pain meds or regular scheduled meds when ask when she would receive them was answered with the "I'm busy and I'll try to get to her soon" Aides were deplorable . My sister was told many times to not ring for help between the hours of 4-6pm as they were too busy handing out trays and feeding people. With my sisters ALS somedays her arms could not move to feed herself. On those days her food tray was left on table with no help in sight. There was actually one aide who cried the whole time she gave my sister a bed bath - seriously wept. Call buttons go unanswered for an hour or more. Aides will come into room ask what you want and then leave for 2-3 hours. Honestly they would only help if family was standing there demanding help We had to hire people to come daily to help my sister with simple task and so that person could get help from staff for my sister and feed her. There was at least 4 residents who had outside help come in. If we would of known that they were not family members while touring that would of diverted us to another rehab facility immediately HUGE RED FLAG Up until my sister broke her ankle she was able to walk a few steps and sit in wheelchair due to her ALS It was her hope that this facility could help her learn how to transfer to wheel chair and hopefully her ankle would heal while there. None of that happened. Without outside help and occasional help from OT or PT she would of sat in bed 24/7 We brought these issues to the assistant director of nursing attention and she actually witnessed personally the deplorable condition my sister was left in after the aides put her in bed without having her breathing machine on, the tray table across the room so no access to call button or water and dirty linens left on floor Her answer was to hand the family a complaint form Don't be fooled by the staff schedule in front lobby- it was infrequent that people scheduled were actually there Terri the corporate person who toured us before admission told many lies. She had no knowledge of staff to patient ratios and answered many questions with "I'm just filling in here and don't know how it works in this facility" We should of ran then . Don't let the nice surroundings fool you if you want your loved one to heal and be cared for in a human way.
