Arizona Foundation Solutions - Measuring horizontal cracks in a concrete stem wall

I had a great experience getting the free estimate from AFS. Due to a miscommunication, I missed…read morethe initial appointment. David S., the estimator, was very understanding. We talked on the phone. I had many questions. He took the time to answer them all. With rescheduling, the office staff were always friendly and accommodating. David S. was knowledgeable and informative, but never sales-y. After the inspection, he emailed a report with the measurement data, a diagram of the home indicating where repairs would be made and several options. No repeated calls or pressure to schedule work soon. The foundation stabilization and repair options included installing helical and push piers, underpinning, the poly filler, stem wall patches and repairs. There was a lot offered and the overall total was very costly. I do understand I'm not just paying for getting the piers installed, but all the knowledge, time and coordination to get there. After the initial freak-out at seeing the cost, I know I can discuss with David S. what parts are critical and how to reduce the total. There were various degrees, like a base package versus something that had more features. Some items AFS would be contracting out, so there's potential to save if I hired those contractors directly. I believe the specialty of AFS is installing piers. If you only need foundation patching, you might search for structural concrete specialists. As some reviewers noted, utilizing AFS will be much more expensive in those situations. Ask your contact. If you're a homeowner reading this, you're probably worried about some things you've seen in your home. The last thing you need is the added stress of someone trying to get you to sign off on a project. Of course, if it was urgent...fortunately, my home isn't in danger of falling down tomorrow. I'm grateful AFS provided a no-cost, no-pressure assessment. David S. provided the data for me to make an informed decision. He didn't use any and fear or pressure tactics. When hiring a contractor, I want one that I can have a collaborative conversation with. I can't speak to the installation itself, but if I decide to go with piers, poly fill or underpinning, I feel good reaching out to David S. to further discuss and make changes to the solution. I haven't decided on what to do with the foundation. There are more urgent home repairs. I also wanted to make sure I found root causes and to make sure those were addressed. Something I learned through this process: if you're seeing signs of foundation settlement, look for areas that are wet by pushing a stick around the perimeter of the house. Even if unused, sprinkler systems, irrigation or service lines can have water leaks that will cause the soil to expand and shrink. Those lines need to be repaired or if unused, capped off. I have unused sprinkler lines running right along the back of the house! Oh, after scheduling the appointment, AFS sent a book about foundation issues. It cost a bit to send. I support reducing waste. If you don't want the book, I wonder if you can ask them not to send and email a link instead!

We were referred to Randy S through another company…read more We had an issue with our air conditioning unit & circuit breakers being exposed to a water leak from an upstairs unit (we are on the second floor). We wanted to make sure since it was a slow leak that there was no mold growing behind or inside the unit. Called this company and they were able to set an appointment for us the following day. I had explained we had a prior test done through our building's subcontractors, but we wanted a second opinion and to ensure every measure was taken before we were going to get the work done with our buildings team. Johnathan P arrived early the following morning and was extremely thorough in his work. We received a full report the following day that broke everything down as far as the visual inspection what it revealed and the readily visible water and suspected mold impact on the building materials and with in the HVAC closet. The environmental assessment was similar to the contractors our leasing office used but the surface sample mold spores taken the previous company failed to test for. Randy was supportive with our concerns was available through text messages if we had a questions and along with the report he provided us very descriptive information with what we were actually dealing with. This company was wonderful to work with and higley recommend We were in an unfortunate situation due to our living conditions that we were unable to choose this company for repairs and had to go with a quick fix from our rental property. Eventually after battling back and for with the leasing office they FINALLY had a subcontractor come out and clean all the coils to the unit as it in fact had questionable and concerning mold growth. We would not have known this if we hadn't had Adaptive Environmental Consulting Group come out and do the professional analysis that should have been done to begin with. Also, the leasing office wanted a copy of this report and we were unwilling to do so because they were not willing to reimburse us the cost of this 2nd opinion. It was a terrible situation and eventually got resolved, but apartment living you are stuck with whom they chose to take the cheapest route possible.

I asked him if the toilet leak could be causing that. He said "I dunno, it looks nasty."' I showed him the vanity. He didn't even get down and actually look IN it. He just peeked inside from afar. Then i showed him another room and said that it's musty smelling and he didn't seem to know much about that. I called someone else when he left, and right over the phone she said "of course the back up from the toilet could be making you feel sick. There's bacteria and maybe mold in there.' Ahhh. So much more pro sounding than 'that's nasty.' Also he was supposed to call if not coming at the certain time so I could put my dog away. He didn't do that and was really nasty about it when I asked why.

So convenient. I inquired online about the "Mow Hoe & Blow" service options, since our ask was a lil beyond standard maintenance, and I received a response the same day, within minutes. Although we have no grass to mow, we had leaves everywhere, overgrown bushes and trees and some tree limbs had broke due to months of neglect during monsoon season. They got us on the schedule same week,, text updates when they were on the way and prompt arrival right when schedule. I didn't get before pics of the front, but the before & after was impressive. I did call early (7:45 am), the male that answered sounded sleepy and I apologized for calling that early. I proceeded to tell him I was calling from a business looking for a new cleaning company but he hung up on me. I tried calling back and was sent to vmail. If this is the kind of customer service they provide over the phone we definitely don't want to do business with them. RESPONSE: I'm sorry but it was a deep voice who answered so I assumed it was a man. And yes, I did state why I was calling but since you hung up on me you must not have heard me. You say the called showed up as spam, then why bother answering. If you decided to answer the call you should have taken a few seconds to listen to the caller instead of hanging up. RESPONSE: Just giving my honest review. Thank you
