This feels like Israel to the left and Ishmael to the right to me. Ok, the vestments used by the clergy are super cool. However, he was worried because he didn't know what it means to be a Christian. We attended a baptism class and lo and behold, the South campus pastor himself, Eric, made the whole experience feel approachable and was so genuine. One thing that really stood out was when Eric shared that he doesn't have all the answers either--and that's okay. That honesty and humility solidified my s/o's decision. Though it's only been a year since we started attending, Gateway opens its doors to all those with a welcoming heart and a no-judgment approach. Heck, it's even their church motto, "no perfect people allowed". I'm personally drawn to sermons that pair Scripture with practical, everyday applications and personal stories, and Eric delivers every single time. He has a gift for making biblical teachings feel relevant and personal, so personal I swear I know his wife, Deborah, myself! Here's where I hate to complain but... the worship team has been going through some changes, and we haven't felt quite the same connection to the worship experience as we did before. I used to cry or rejoice when I would hear some singers perform, but now, I hold my breath, unsure if the newer singers (or former backup singers) are going to hit the high notes their being so bold to take on or hoping they'll remember the lyrics. It seems some of the singers we really connected with have moved on and while we COMPLETELY respect their decision, we miss them!

The Schoenstatt Shrine is perched upon a beautiful hill overlooking parts of Austin. Coming from the flatlands of Houston, TX, I was in awe of the gorgeous sight! When I'm in need of some peace and silence, I head straight to the shrine. Sitting on the steps of the shrine and looking out at the beautiful view, I can't help but smile at how God's creations can be so magnificently indescribable. The first time I came to the shrine, it was for adoration. I've been to adoration many times at different parishes, but nothing compares to my experience at the shrine. I enjoy being able to close me eyes and feel the wind with the shrine doors opened. It helps me to be at peace and makes me feel as if it's just Jesus and I there in the chapel. Not only are the adoration events spiritually refreshing, but so are the Sunday masses at 11am! Every week you can celebrate mass outdoors with some of the most inspiring and genuine people! The shrine is a place to spend time with Mother Mary, a place for reflection and a place to celebrate the goodness of God. The shrine is a home away from heaven!
